'Destiny' could be a game for an entire generation, is highly possible, Provided by circumstantial evidence by Nintendo X Monolithsoft upcoming game called "X" which likely be an MMORPG, which could sustain WiiU for Years.

RuleNumber53945d ago

Yeah that's a good point. A game like that for the Wii U would be huge. I'd like to see a great MMORPG on the Wii U because we know there will be plenty coming to the Xbox One and PS4.

No matter how much I loved Xenoblade, dont mistake fan adoration for a console sales driver. JRPGs simply dont have that power anymore. Maybe in Japan...

xYLeinen3945d ago

People needs to start some serious thinking about what they think of Activision if they like Destiny.

Could be that Activision is giving Bungie what they want to make this title.

RuleNumber53945d ago

Especially when you look at how long the development cycle for this game has been. So far, they don't seem to be in a rush to get this game out the door. With how much Activision has invested in this game, it's paramount that it's successful, so it makes sense that they would provide as much support as Bungie needs.

xYLeinen3945d ago

I'm betting Bungie is calling the shots here tho. I think Infinity Ward did call the shots when they worked in vanilla "next gen" CoD. I also think that Bungie is to independent, and respected that Activision won't dare to apply the same business structure to Destiny as they did to Call of Duty..

there is a VIDOC of when Bungie and Activision partnered I think it is called O Brave New World. Tons of us Bungie fans were supper sketched when they announced this partnership because of the timing. Activision and Infinity Ward just split. But I believe they hold all rights to Destiny and Activision is just a publisher.

I cant wait to play this game!

GodGinrai3944d ago

I cant wait to play this with my friends..exploring the worlds..kicking ass with my buddies in tow. just, awesome!

"A game for an entire generation" needs to be on all platforms not just 2 especially when it's a bloody MMO.

Not announcing this for PC is crazy when PC is the home of MMOs.
It can't be pirated so it must just be a petty stance from Bungie. Same with Ubisoft with The Division.

RuleNumber53944d ago

The Division is coming to PC and current generation consoles. No way Ubisoft will pass up that revenue opportunity.

Truehellfire3944d ago

If they announce Destiny for PC they will have my money on day one. Was watching the E3 footage and I was really bummed that it hasn't been confirmed for PC.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter326d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell325d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig326d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast326d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g326d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka326d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai477d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface476d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard473d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
