Microsoft seems to forget that many of the folks who bought 360s where disgruntled PS2 owners who couldn't afford PS3 at $599, or couldn't wait one year late for the console.

They're coming home now.

You know what's funny? Some people actually think all Games at Microsoft conference are exclusives, instead of just 5 or 6 of them. Some of them are not even launch titles too. Ps4 has a stronger launch line up exclusives than Xbox cloud.

Sony has ME next generation and I have been mainly an MS gamer the past decade plus. So I agree with Edge. I don't see how anyone can argue "logically" against this assessment. MS has already made way too many mistakes and most importantly they lost trust. The biggest question now being asked is "when" will MS re-implement DRM.

Dropping DRM alone is far from being enough for them to even be competitive. There are a lot of little things they are doing wrong as well. If you go to gaming racing sites / forums. Forza fans are up in arms that their current generation wheels wont work with Forza 5. Hardcore and even mainstream gamers don't want a camera hooked up mandatory for ANY reason. Being able to turn it on or off doesn't matter. It should have never been mandatory. The price is also a huge factor considering ALL indications is it has less power all around vs the PS4. Also taken into consideration Kinect most likely is the main reason the X1 will retail for $100 dollars more.

Just way too many mistakes, poor message with horrible messaging (arrogant, snobbish, inconsistent, or flat out not answering straight questions with straight answers), unnecessary restrictions and requirements, more money ALL around (console and peripherals), etc.

Sony is without question the front runner for the next generation. It doesn't matter what MS showed or didn't show at E3 as far as games goes. Sony has proven themselves over the years to continually churn out high level exclusive IP's (sequels and brand new) generation after generation.

Meanwhile MS, other than their tried and true fab 4, all but bailed on the 360 consumers the past few years to push Kinect. Now they have made it mandatory. Didn't they get the memo? Motion controls are so last generation. Gamers want a gaming console, not a cable box that needs a traditional cable box hooked up to it to be a cable box. It just makes no sense the direction they are headed. Especially considering the X1 appears to be targeting North America the most where TV viewing is dropping year after year. SMDH

That's true, but another way to look at it is... Wow a site that's seemed to hate on most things related to Playstation for years is in love with PS4, so PS4 is definitely going to dominate!

It's still jumping to a conclusion, but at least you can see the thought process behind the leap.

I'd rather say that's because Edge is known to be harsh and was a little bit rough towards the Playstation (3) recently which makes this statement rather surprising. I'm not coming home, never was a Sony fan and never owned a Playstation. I've supported Xbox since I got an original in 2002. That support is now dead. I'll stick with the 360 for a bit and maybe find a new home on Playstation or go back home to PC. The wild card for me is if Steambox comes to fruition.

The only addition I would add to that is this is what reasonable mature gamers (who usually get labeled "PS Fanboys") have been saying for YEARS about Microsoft and their "tactics". If there is a competition is from Microsoft and SONY trying to win a market to get more money and until now what I see is a Microsoft with a 360 sells that are 4 times the sells of the original Xbox and with a new Xbox one which is not even out yet...... so we just can sit down a see what will happen.........to say that somebody will win is premature.
I keep saying have a lot of interest in buy both consoles, i like the two worlds, when I take the side of Microsoft is because I see a lot of unfair opinions against Microsoft.

It's well known that Edge gets hate on N4G.com and other places. The reason is simply because of the lower reviews they have give certain PS3 titles. They are the Eurogamer for the PS3.

Yeah, it's common knowledge that the flip flopping is going to occur at this site. But in this case it's all Edge. They are trying to sell hits & magazines and just like many websites they know what's going to sell them in this gurrent gaming climate.

I agree with you thomper I do see why people are not liking the Xbox one but for me it is the better console for what I want in my front room. I also thought the games I saw at e3 fit my needs better than what Sony were offering. Also people seem to be forgetting the one big market out there the none core market.

Microsoft's biggest issue at the start of last gen with the 360 as the lack of none core games and Kinect made the console a core and none core console. Now sony managed this to by move but move was not taken up by this market and if you price up a ps4 with a camera bar and 2 move and nav controllers it becomes more than the Xbox one plus it is only 2 player.

I am by no means saying the ps4 is a bad console as its not but gaming is about choice and I own a Wiiu at the moment and out of the one and ps4 I will be getting the Xbox one and I will end up picking up a ps4 some point later on in the gen like I did with the ps3.

It means you have an outside view of things, so if you DO endorse one side over another, it's not for any biased reasons. You can look at competing products, with no personal interest in which is better, and yet still objectively determine one to be better than the other.

In a lot of people's eyes, Edge already wasn't objective: they viewed Edge as leaning away from- or just being harsher ON- Sony. So when they read that Edge is saying PS4 makes the most sense(notice they even say "Right Now"), people can't help but to be taken aback.

It doesn't matter if Edge is biased one way or the other. The fact is that for many years, Edge was heavily a pro Xbox gaming site. So it's a huge accomplishment for Sony that they were able to convince a site like Edge to favor and endorse the PS4 for next gen. In fact, based on a lot of people's comments on here and on other forums, it would seem Sony has been converting a lot of former Xbox supporters to the PS4 these last couple of months.

Its the most respected magazine because it contains well balanced arguments & opinions, treats the reader as an intelligent, informed person rather than an obnoxious youth. It shys away from sensationalistic comments/headlines unless it has a strong argument to make and doesn't jump on any bandwagons to keep fanboys happy.

I have been an avid reader for more than 20 years. They offer good reasons for the review scores they give and don't give out perfect scores readily. I have never challenged the integrity of their reviews/articles.

Its the only gaming magazine that can compete with other magazine genres through consistent quality journalism.

I am not a Sony 'fanboy', PlayStation just happens to be my preferred platform for gaming. If there was a gaming system from a competitive company that I didn't despise, I would consider it in a completely unbiased fashion.

It was always gonna be my next console even before either of them was announced. I'm not getting either console until prices for both drop anyway so there's time for that to change (or not).

The only way I'm getting either of them anytime soon is if I see something that literally grabs me by the throat, looks me dead in the eye and screams "BUY ME NAO!!!". I'm yet to see that from either console so far and the games that come closest for me (KH3, FFXV) are still far off (one of the reasons I finally got around to getting a ps3 was in anticipation of Versus XIII).

In the mean time, I'll continue to enjoy both my 360 (nothing beats playing Halo 4 with my buddies) and my ps3 (Ni No Kuni is the most addictive RPG I've played since KH2) that I got in December.

This article would have been relevant during or immediately after E3. However since the Xbox 180, things have drastically changed for MS. Those of you who have seen the retail numbers already know that I am right.

Edge also has a very well established rep for being a team player for a certain company. Open any issue in the past year and count the playstation related ads and you will see why edge never bites the hand that feeds them.

In short, while I still believe MS screwed up big time they are still far from being out of the race. And if I were an edge subscriber I would be insulted by their insistence that I buy anything just because they said so.

The hate for the system is STRONG. I can bet EVEN of they didnt have the DRM and 24 issues there would STILL be hate, folks would still find something to bash the system for.

Im really looking forward to 66 player battles on Battlefield 4 on (a next gen system) im looking forward to alot of the new features and experiences this coming winter.

I'll stick with the proven awesomeness of Xbox Live and Skype. There is almost no difference between the two consoles in terms of performance and games are purely a matter of preference, especially since the best ones are coming to both consoles. It comes down to which console lets you interact with your friends better and for me that is definitely One's edge. I could care less about the $100 difference and so do a lot of gamers. We know what we are signing up for with XBox Live, the same cannot be said for PSN.

As a 360 user i am disappointed by what ms did with this next gen. first they wanted to force people to be always online and charge for used games and second i do not want that kinect forced in to my hands,they really need to make kinect optional and drop the price to 400. I will wait a year to see what the next gen consoled do and decide later, as for now i have plans to upgrade my PC.

I think a lot of people are giving the new xbox too big of an early grave. I'm a ps3 owner and down the road I'm probably going to get a ps4 ( gonna wait till people buy and test both consoles first :P). I had a xbox 360 before but sold it. I think they were both great consoles but I found that sony's free online won over me even if it didn't have cross game chat ( which is a game changer) !

People are looking at the new xbox like any previous generation console and laughing out loud that is has cable tv box inside of it and how it's so much less powerful than the ps4. I'm not a fanboy of either side , I just like to play good games and a console that works and that is functional ! The new xbox if marketed correctly until it's release might attract all sorts of new consumers which weren't previously interested in the console market. The new xbox is obviously aimed at the casual gamers market, most people who might buy the xbox will just use it to play some games,but use it mostly as a TV set up box, and the kids can game whenever they feel like it. + you won't have to miss your shower or movie or whatever because of the xbox one's reminders and streamlined TV to games feature thing.

Granted this is not what I, as a video gamer am looking for, I'm used to having my cable box, games and such seperate, but look at how consoles became DVD players and then BLURAY players through the generations and some people in fact bought the ps3 because it was a cheap bluray player at the beginning.

Anyways I think that these articles about the doom of the xbox etc... are just internet rumors and fanBOYISM. People should respect what both company are trying to do in terms of changing both the video game industry and the entertainment industry as a whole. I know many american friends who are off their tits excited about the fantasy football feature and will buy the xbox solely based on that "minor feature".

All in all people should take a deep breath and in fall 2013 let the consumers decide which console is best when we'll finally have them in our grasps and can make our decisions based on experience and not rumours and speculations.

But in terms of my personal excitement, I'm more inclined to go with the ps4 as my next video game machine, they've got my sold up till now, yay Japan ! Good luck to both competitors and may the best one win, FIGHT !

Can I ask all of you PlayStation fans a question
Do you all think the gap in preorders are due to people actually thinking the ps4 will be a better system or a result of MS shooting themselves in the foot(drm, price,ect)
I ask that cause look at it this way
Lets say hypothetically each system special features work as Sony and MS advertise(I say that cause for.some reason everything sony say y'all take it as absolute truth and everything MS say as smoke and mirrors)
I have seen features from the xbox(live tv, nfl, ect) wheather you like them or not
That are exclusive to.that system
I haven't seen anything from sony that the xbox cannot do

i think what it is some of what you stated, but i think it is more of a value issue.

as for saying you have not seen something that can be done on Sony's ps4 machine that cannot be done on the xboxone. well Like you as of right now there is nothing on the xboxone that i could not see Sony being able to implement on the PS4 and vice versa. the systems Hardware of both machines are pretty robust.

THE MAIN POINT IS VALUE OF WHAT BOTH ARE OFFERING.

and right now Sony is offering more software free game's for your money. unlike xboxlive Sony does indeed have more free to play multi-player games that you do not need a required, playstation + account to access, also they have cross game chat and party chat with no playstation + requirement, and while you have a playstation + active accout you get an instant game collection of not just free PS4 games but also PS3 and PSVita games along with Playstation free indie Mobile games.

To top that off Playstation Home has over 400+ free to play Games on that service with many of them online multi-player for gamer's to play. that is once again with out the need of a playstation + requirement. also many services outside of gaming like netflix, or Hulu + do not require playstation + added to the subscription cost to use those services.

as a matter of fact, let me ask you a question do you think Microsoft's loss ing xboxlive gold sub.'s of being down by 13% has something to do with Sony offering a better value for the consumer money?
