Rebooting Classics, Is It A Structure That Works?

Super PolyPixel - Remakes, or reboots shall we say, are becoming a craze lately in many media industries. Hollywood for instance has been taking the time in recent years to remake those films we’ve enjoyed as kids growing up (at least in my case). For example, we had film remakes such as The Amazing Spider-Man, Friday the 13th, and The Dark Knight. It’s pretty inevitable that the video game industry will follow the same structured path, which we’ve seen happen with many classics in recent years.

TBH DMC:DMC never really felt like a reboot. At most it felt a story in alternate universe.

Dante overall design could've been better. By better I don't mean look like Dante from the previous DMC games either. I just got tired hearing the "he looks emo" or "he looks too much like the game's designer." I'm not sure what they were thinking when they design him.

The level design is where NT shine the most at. Imho it was way better than previous DMC games.

The story I wish they went more into detail not only about their parents but why Vergil dislike human.

If Ninja Theory had treated the fanbase better who's knows maybe the game would've sold more.

the fanbase needs to treat the developer good if they want the developer's respect

The developer specifically Tameem called the fanbase a "demographic that doesn’t exist". Basically saying their opinion didn't matter.

Heck Tameen even said "I don't care if it sells a thousand units or two million"

Well DMC:DMC ended up only selling 1.1million (of April 2013). It sold less than DMC 4. Even the sales performance on Japan chart was less than of DMC 4.

Yes it works. People enjoy familiarity. We are to reluctant change (cue in Xbox One DRM policy and such for example). Just look at some successful franchises that has not changed the core but just added different locations and different arrangement of colors for a new but tried and true formula.

yes it is, the only problem is that SO many fanbases today are full of entitled manchildren who complain about anything and everything especially change, i mean how many fans of mgs were pissed when snake was revealed to be old in MGS4, constant whining and now they defend him at every turn, DMC fanbase is a prime example, just from a reveal trailer they harass, threaten and curse the developers of the game, which actually turned out to be pretty good and true to the series, and are total hypocrites as well, they curse NT for making a dick joke yet four years ago those same people could be found saying, "First I whip it out then i ram it in" from DMC4
