Ugh. I really hope it comes out sooner. What else could be coming out between December and April? Certainly nothing I know of.

mrbojingles3946d ago

Well they already said "spring 2014" and spring doesn't start every year until March 21st, so,... April is better than June

PopRocks3593946d ago

I said between December and April. As in what comes out during January, February and March?

Dj7FairyTail3946d ago

Do anything big even come out January from Nintendo. Nope.

_QQ_3946d ago

My guess would be whatever the third Sonic game is will release between January-March.

Prime_283946d ago

Bayo 2 is rumored to be coming in March.

BosSSyndrome3946d ago

Where did you see that? Not skeptical, just want to see for myself.

_QQ_3946d ago

I wish i really hope so, i would guess Q3 2014

Theyellowflash303946d ago

That's where third-parties need to step in. Nintendo can't release games every single month.

PopRocks3593946d ago

I'm really quite shocked that I received so many disagrees for saying Nintendo should bring out a Mario Kart game sooner. And for questioning if there's anything to hold us over between that and 3D World.

This is such a weird community sometimes.

What are we gonna play from January 'till then?

fattyuk3946d ago

The same games you've played from January 2013

mrbojingles3946d ago (Edited 3946d ago )

Um, well here's the line up for 2013:

8/2013: Pikmin 3, Splinter Cell
9/2013: Rayman Legends, Wonderful 101
10/2013: Batman Arkham Origins, Assassin's Creed IV, Wind Waker HD
11/2013: Donkey Kong Country, Call of Duty, Watch Dogs
12/2013: Wii Fit U, Super Mario 3D World

2013 games don't stop playing in Wii Us across the globe once the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, 2013

As for January through April, I don't know but Bayonetta 2 looks almost done and has been playable at public shows, not to mention that Yarn Yoshi looks nearly done too.

Wii U in 2014 has: Yarn Yoshi, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, SMT x Fire Emblem, and others. So I'm guessing Yoshi and Bayo 2 make it out in Jan/March repsectively but we don't know yet. Of course we don't know what's coming January, February, March. That's 7-9 months away.

Redempteur3946d ago

I don't want to be rude , but you realise that
splinter cell , rayman , batman , creed, call of duty , watchdogs are also available on the other consoles, right ?

Increasing your list with multiplats seems like a last resort , done only to hide the fact that most of the big releases ( mario kart , smash bros , bayonneta and so on ) are in 2014.

Dj7FairyTail3946d ago

Sonic Lost Worlds in October

Theyellowflash303946d ago

Why don't multiplats get counted on Wii U? Sony and MS rely on Muiltiplats all day. Why can't Wii U owners look forward to them?

GenericNameHere3946d ago (Edited 3946d ago )

So the PS4 and Xbone are expected to release this November, and Nintendo is missing a huge game during the holidays...

You know what? Never mind. Mario Kart Wii also cane out in April, in 2008. However, people are saying, and even Nintendo is acknowledging, that the Wii U has not sold well. Mario Kart sells, and in the holidays it could sell even more.

Realplaya3946d ago

Mario Kart was never meant for the holidays. But they did say that they have unannounced games between now and 2014 so expect the unexpected.

Dj7FairyTail3946d ago

aside from Mario Kart 7 but it was finished before Holiday with the help of Retro Studios.

Dj7FairyTail3946d ago

Pikmin 3 in August
The Wonderful 101 in September
Zelda Wind Waker HD and Sonic Lost World in October
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze in November
Super Mario 3D World in December

I would just like to point out that pop rocks asked if anything came out between dec and April he did not ask what Nintendo games are being released between then. I really don't understand why people insist on making digs towards nintend when people say 3rd party games ( even if multi platform) may be released during that time frame. Not everyone each console. Not to mentionit is an article about Mario kart a Nintendo made and exclusive game so again I don't understand some people's comments. It almost seems like people have to make sure they grow their epeen on a daily basis by trying to insult another console.

Another way to look at it is this way. Why even ask the question about games when either

A) you only own a Nintendo system, therefore, any third party game released can be viewed as an exclusive since you only have a Nintendo system....

Or

B) you own a Nintendo system plus either a Microsoft or Sony (or both) console, therefore, you will buy Nintendo made games and if/when third party games release you buy them for a different console it's still a game to play.

It still amazes me how much joy it brings people when taking digs at other consoles in particular Nintendo systems. Is it because people are mad that 3ds a shittty HH (spec wise) is stomping on vita's face, pushing it harder into the mud each time it grasps for air? Or maybe because the wii sold 100million consoles this gen beating both Sony and Microsoft?

If you don't like Nintendo that's fine but Jesus people lets be realistic Nintendo can't release a major game every month for both 3ds and wii u. It's just not going to happen.

Lastly I would like to point out wii fit U is not a game and anyone thinking other wise is an idiot. Also what big N needs to make instead is a wii sports 2 adding more depth to the current games it alreadys has as well as even more sports and adding in the resort title. What happened to that golf and baseball sport demo they showed back in 2012? The one where you in golf the gamepad is used as the tee and in baseball the pad is used as your glove? They need to add that crap and I bet it would sell like hot cakes.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.

gold_drake7d ago

there wont be a new one until the switch 2 comes out.

nintendo needs their bangers early on

The Next Mario Kart Desperately Needs A Good Gimmick

Mario Kart 8 has been out for nine years now if you include the Wii U version. Despite the Switch port continuing to sell insane numbers since it came out in 2017, many people believed that a new installment was way past due. When the Booster Course Pass was announced instead, it was a bit controversial, with one side of people stating that it was time for a new game, and the other side believing that this was the best course of action and that there's nothing else Nintendo can do to innovate the franchise.

There's nothing wrong with the games, but after most of them being very samey, I got a bit bored. I liked MKDS because it added a mission mode, yeah it didn't have maybe as many as I'd like but it was decent for variety.

I really prefer the new Mario Party for the different types of games in it.

Mario Kart doesn't really feel fresh because you know what to expect for every new game pretty much. The single player mode of DKR was far more in depth a game vs Mario Kart IMO, MK is probably better for multiplayer though.

-Foxtrot305d ago

It needs a campaign mode like Crash Team Racing with open hubs, driving around the Mushroom Kingdom, selecting your races and the like. Have a system like the CTR tokens within the races that then unlock secret racing cups later on or the time relics to unlock other things.

There's nothing wrong with the games but when you've had the same set up for so many games it just gets a bit samey after a while.

They could even have something like a track creator like Modnation Racers or something.

Neonridr305d ago

I always enjoyed the single player aspect of Diddy Kong Racing myself.

Knushwood Butt305d ago

After starting with the first game on SNES, I think the last one I bought was on the DS.

Phlacky304d ago (Edited 304d ago )

I think the next gimmick should be interactive tracks with obstacles and traps such as maybe throwing a shell ahead to make something fall on another player Also have water and mud parts that effect handling more also fire parts that can cause you to over heat if you stay in it to long etc...

Yi-Long304d ago (Edited 304d ago )

I don’t think it needs ‘a gimmick’ so much, because gameplay is pretty much perfect right now, but I would like the next Mario Kart to do either a ‘track-builder’ thing, so you just get access to the tools and make your own tracks (think Modnation Racers or LBP Karting), and/or expand upon ‘Mario’ Kart and open it up to the rest of Nintendo IPs, and just do a ‘Nintendo Kart’, so we’d see more of Zelda, but also Starfox, Kirby, Metroid, Valkyria Chronicles*, etc.

* I know, technically not ‘Nintendo’.
