Hey, At Least It Comes With a Headset

The fact that Sony came out and fixed everything the PS3 was lacking has pleased many people. In addition of making the PS4 an easy machine to develop on, Sony shocked the gaming world by delivering a $399.99 price for the PlayStation 4. One of the many PS3 complaints was the lack of a headset included in the box; of course Sony offered a few “additional cost” options a few years later such as; the wireless Bluetooth headset and the Wireless Stereo Headset. However, the fact that the Xbox was able to fit that small part into its box still left many gamers baffled by Sony’s weird and anti-consumer friendly decisions.

It comes with a headset. That's cool, so I don't have to buy one, lol.

Think its better, way better, that the headphones they put out for the PS3 work on the PS4.

PCs too.

sobekflakmonkey3952d ago

Yeah, I use the PS monitor and the PS headset for PC gaming, and sometimes the headset for my PS3 lol the monitor is fantastic and works extremely well with my PC, its a super clean monitor, the headset aint anything to complain about either. I'm glad I got them.

DarkBlood3952d ago

do you guys know if i can talk to them without needing a headset?

since im kind of hard of hearing and all lol plus i dont have a device that syncs with my implant yet anyways so best i can do is listen to them from the tv

shikamaroooo3952d ago

Ps Eye lets you hear peoples Voices straight from the TV, as well as being a Mic itself.

KwietStorm_BLM3952d ago

You can hear better from the TV than a headset?

GunsAndTheBeast3952d ago

@shikamaroooo Just like Kinect 2, minus the NSA listening to you.

DarkBlood3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

@KwietStorm im hard of hearing or "deaf" if thats easier to understand lol i wouldnt hear anything from a headset and as for my implant i dont recieve sound the same way a normal person would mine is done digitally

and i dont have the program yet to wirelessly connect to any bluetooth device

mattkelly19913952d ago

It comes with a headset and it's still $100 cheaper.

Godmars2903952d ago

Probably because its a $5 headset lol.

Thomper3952d ago

$5? That's being generous ;0)

claudionmc3952d ago

Well... then $105 cheaper ;)

maniacmayhem3952d ago

Isn't Kinect 2 one big headset with a mic?

Yes it is..

PerryCaravello3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

Is it taking pictures of your penis while you sleep?

Yes it is..

head·set

Noun
A set of headphones, typically with a microphone attached

GunsAndTheBeast3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

Kinect is crap. Deal with it. How many hardcore gamers will play with kinect do you think? We're too lazy for motion controls. I'd rather sit on my fat ass all day long rather then waving my arms like a tard, and lose a couple of pounds.

Seriously though, most people won't use kinect for hardcore games, it failed last time, it'll fail this time too.

elhebbo163952d ago

@guns "Kinect is crap. Deal with it" you replied to the wrong guy.

Hicken3952d ago

Why don't you buy an XBOne and show us a picture of you with the Kinect 2 on your head, maniac?

maniacmayhem3952d ago

Why, when I can place it next to my 55 inch plasma and talk to my friends from my couch?

Mikeyy3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

While your friends and everybody else mute you because the kinect just picks up all the noise from your TV.

Kinect users are instant mutes.

Hicken3952d ago

A headset is meant to be worn, oh, I don't know, ON YOUR HEAD.

Therefore, unless Kinect 2 can be worn on your head- like every other headset in the known universe- your initial comment was wrong.

maniacmayhem3952d ago

Oooh I get it now, you actually took my comment literally. My bad...let me explain for the hard pressed and anal up tight folks.

*ahem*

Since the Kinect 2 comes with every Xbox 1 and since it CAN pick up and transmit voices I can only assume through investigations and worldly experience with similar tech that it functions just like a headset one would wear on their cabeza.

There ya go Hicken, I have broken it down so even toddlers, special needs and you could understand.

Hicken3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

... and you still fail to get why that doesn't work.

Namely, that it'll be RIGHT NEXT TO THE TV, so it'll pick up every sound the TV makes. Plus every other sound that happens in the room.

Oh, and you, too.

So yeah, I guess you could use the Kinect as a "headset," but it'd be a piss poor one, given that no amount of noise canceling tech it comes with could single out your voice and filter everything else away as simply noise before submitting it to the ears of others.

You'd think your "investigations and worldly experiences with similar tech" would have made that obvious to you. Apparently, though, you're not on the level of a toddler just yet.

Thanks for playing.

Edit: Has that "acoustic source localization and ambient noise suppression" been shown working in real time? Cuz it sounds to me just like more of "teh cloud!!!" PR talk. And that STILL doesn't explain how it would differentiate voices in the same room, how it would determine which voice to transmit, and which ones to cancel out.

Did you look that up while you were coming up with that ridiculous "cooked or raw" line?

Back to the drawing board for you.

maniacmayhem3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

Please insert quarter to continue...

*sigh*

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

"The Kinect sensor's microphone array enables the Xbox 360 to conduct acoustic source localization and ambient noise suppression, allowing for things such as headset-free party chat over Xbox Live."

Wait, if I remember correctly you don't own an Xbox or the Kinect device. So do you know for certain that it picks up everything in your room and blasts it through the speakers? Have you experienced it first hand or are you just your old bitter self complaining about anything MS related?

You see Hicken I DID INVESTIGATE instead of just HATE. And the Kinect can cancel out other noises from around your room and others you are talking to. So it does work JUST LIKE A HEADSET.

And the point (which you so ninjaly dodged and ducked) IS that even though the X1 doesn't come with the headset there is still a device that works similar to it.
Do you like your baby food cooked or raw?

Game Over!

Angeljuice3952d ago

But it still doesn't work properly (like a 'headset' would). Noise-cancellation on kinnect was really poor IMO, you did hear 'fights and sirens' in the background.

maniacmayhem3952d ago

@Hicken

Wow, just wow, has reading escaped your grasp as well as reality? That link is for the FIRST Kinect. The first Kinect can cancel out background noise and ambient sounds. And since this is Kinect 2....yadda, yadda, yadda.

So yes it is the power of the Cell...OOPS, I meant the power of the cloud. Or it could be something called TECHNOLOGY! You know science? That thing we all learned that explains hocus pocus.

And again you ducked, parried and focused attacked the main point. Even with no headset the Kinect 2 will work in the same way a headset will.

Seriously, you go around N4G adding nothing to any topic even with your new found bubble powers. You have no clue yourself if it works that well with the Kinect 2. But you are definitely in full blown hate mode trolling any MS topic replying only, instead of adding. Then coming up with some lame excuse that your a "gamer" and have some new found right to be an a-hole.

Time to get the medication Hicken.

I have the original Offical PS3 bluetooth headset. The one before the redesign. Bought it for killzone 2, also got broadband for killzone 2.

Waaaaaay back in 2009. Wow....

GunsAndTheBeast3952d ago

It's bluetooth and you can use it for PS4 yay!

KwietStorm_BLM3952d ago

I hadn't used that thing since I got the Pulse Elite headphones, but I used it the other day when the battery ran out, and I got a damn blister in my ear. I forgot how uncomfortable that thing is.

Dunpeal3952d ago

once you go pulse elite, you never go back to the weak

elhebbo163952d ago

once you put on the pulse, you start calling people with cheap headsets peasants :p

MasterCornholio3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

I still have the headset that was bundled with warhawk (which i bought used)

Edit: Bought used: Warhawk with the headset.

strigoi8143952d ago

I probably gonna use this for my iphone if it works fine

Bethesda Needs to Reduce the Gaps Between New Fallout and Elder Scrolls Releases

Waiting a decade for new instalments in franchises as massive as Fallout and Elder Scrolls feels like a waste.

Microsoft have Obsidian but I feel it's Bethesda who just don't want to play ball as they've always said they want to do it themselves.

Once MS bought Zenimax in 2020 they should have put the Outer Worlds 2 on the back burner, allow Bethesda to finish off its own Space RPG with Starfield (despite totally different tone why have two in your first party portfolio with two developers who's gameplay is a tad similar) and got Obsidian for one of their projects to make a spiritual successor to New Vegas.

When the Elder Scrolls VI is finished Bethesda can then onto the main numbered Fallout 5 themselves.

The Outer Worlds 2 started development in 2019 so putting it on the back burner wouldn't have been the end of the world, they'd have always come back to it once Fallout was done and it would have been nicely spaced out from Starfields release once they had most likely stopped supporting it and all the expansions were released.

If they did this back in 2020 when they bought Zenimax and the game had a good, steady 4 - 5 years development, you might have seen it release in 2025.

We are literally going to be waiting until 2030 at the very earliest for Fallout 5 and all they seem bothered about is pushing Fallout 76.

RaidenBlack8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Its not just only Todd not playing ball.
Obsidian have made a name for themselves in delivering stellar RPGs, but most famous once have always been sequels/spin-offs to borrowed IPs like KOTOR 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Stick of Truth etc.
Obsidian wants to invest more in their own original IPs like Outer Worlds or Pillars of Eternity with Avowed.
Similar to what Bluepoint & inXile wants to do or Kojima is doing (i.e not involving anymore in Konami's IPs).
So yea, even if New Vegas has the most votes from 3D Fallout fans, Obsidian just wants to do their own thing, like any aspiring dev studio and MS is likely currently respecting that.
But a future Fallout game from Obsidian will surely happen. Founder Feargus Urquhart has already stated an year ago that they're eager to make a new Fallout game with Bethesda, New Vegas 2 or otherwise. Urquhart was the director of the very first 1995's Fallout game after all.
And don't forget Brian Fargo and his studio inXile, as Brian Fargo was the director of Fallout's 1988 predecessor: Wasteland

KyRo4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Obsidian should take over the FO IP. They're do far better with it than Bethesda who hasn't made a great game for almost 15 years

Duke194h ago(Edited 4h ago)

I disagree. Part of these games is the support for the mod community. If they move to releasing a "next game" every 2 or 3 years, the modding support plummets and the franchises turn into just another run of the mill RPG.

Make the games good enough to withstand the test of time, to keep people coming back to them and expanding on them with mod support.

--Onilink--1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

I dont think anyone is saying they need to come out every 2 years (not to mention almost no game is released that quickly anymore)

By the time Fallout 5 comes out, it will be more than 15 years since Fallout 4 came out (same with ES6 coming out 15 years after Skyrim). Even if you want to use F76 as the metric for the most recent release, that one came out in 2018. It will be a miracle if F5 comes out before 2030

The point is that for a studio that doesnt seem to operate with multiple teams doing several projects at once, that their projects normally take 4-5 years as a minimum, and that now they even added Starfield to the rotation, it becomes a 15+ years waiting period between releases for each series, which doesnt make sense. Imagine that Nintendo only released a mainline Mario or Zelda game every 15 years…

They either need to start developing more than 1 project at a time, let someone else take a crack at one of the IPs or significantly reduce their development times

Duke1920m ago(Edited 17m ago)

Why should someone else take a crack at one of the IPs? Look at what happened to Final Fantasy as a recent example - there is pretty clear FF fatigue setting in because they are now pumping out titles in the franchise every few years. Pumping out more games faster doesn't always make a series better.

There are plenty of options to make new games, not just create more titles in the same universe at a faster pace.

mandf1h ago

Yeah I’m going to say it, who cares about the modding community when making a game? Half the time developers only tolerate modders because they fix there game for them.

Skuletor3h ago

Yeah, let's all advocate for smaller gaps between series' releases, then we'll probably get headlines about how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven. Let them cook.

SimpleSlave2h ago

"how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven" So every Bethesda game then? Got it.

Listen, I would agree if this was about From Software or something, but Bethesda?

🤣

C'mon now. What timeline are you from?

Skuletor14m ago

Think about it, they're already bug filled messes on their current schedule, can you imagine how much worse it would be if they rushed things?

Duke1919m ago

I mean you aren't wrong. People are going to complain about anything

isarai2h ago

Hows about you focus on quality, just a thought 🤷‍♂️

Sciurus_vulgaris1h ago

Bethesda [or Microsoft] would have to reallocate internal and external studios towards fallout and elder scrolls titles. Bethesda has the issue of developing 2 big IPs that are large RPGs on rotation. If you want more Fallout and Elder Scrolls, development will have to be outsourced.
