I played Dark Souls II and all I got was this lousy rage quit - MMGN

Paul Verhoeven of MMGN: From Software want to see you suffer. In fact, that's exactly what players want, need and deserve from a good Souls experience. When the Prepare to Die DLC came out, every horrifying new surprise gave me a genuine rush. I WANTED to get spanked into the dirt. Forget Fifty Shades of Grey; Dark Souls is the ultimate sub/dom experience. Only, you know. With less nakey.

Played Dark Souls for a few hours on the PS3 and I can't understand how people enjoy it. Horrible graphics, shitty frame rate, clunky and terrible gameplay (i find the main character's movements quite horrible), problems with camera angles during certain points in the game and when fighting certain bosses (sometimes your view is completely blocked), saves points are a joke (die and repeat all over the same sh*t, die and repeat all over the same sh*t, die and repeat all over the same sh*t ... ).

No thanks. Game is not for me. It's for sadomasochists.

Dark Souls is a true hardcore gamers compliment. it's simple, genuinely challenging, atmospheric and imposing all put together in a unique blend. the visuals may not appeal to everyone but its world is among the most memorable this gaming generation.

I can understand you, the first time I played Demon's Soul I thought the same, but then.. it became an experience. the Souls games are the kind you have to invest in them to truly appreciate their offering.

Dark Souls II will improve the visual part of the game for those who care most about visuals.

Demon and dark souls are my favorite games this gen

but to be honest it took me 3 trys to get into demons souls throughout a year period (gave up 2 times at around the spider boss) the 3rd time i started a new game and ended up doing 3 playthoughs of the game.

i did get the plat for dark souls, but i could never get the plat for demons souls due to the character tendency thing, i could never invade or be invaded (i suspect its because of my nat type3)you can lower/raise you're character tendency offline, but it takes multiple playthoughs without stuffing up certain parts

(veterans will know what im talking about)

Having consequences to dying is what immerses you in the game. If you are careful you won't have to repeat much.

Nevers3952d ago

No use. Give up on this one. DOA

DemonSlayer4203946d ago

The game is about Tense Dungeon Crawling, Epic Boss Battles(Smough and Ornstein?), Looting, Demon Slaying/Monster Hunting, Tons of Secrets to Discover, Ability to NG+ The Game 7 Times, Online PvP, Need I Say More? Let me guess, Skyrim is better right?

@fermcr:

The difficulty is reminiscent of the NES era style of difficult games. Don't like it, then peace out. The rest of us are more than happy to have a game that requires skill, as opposed to all of this hand-holding we get today.

feraldrgn3952d ago

I'm looking forward to this, I was a little worried about the "more accessable" comment but it sounds like it's just as challenging as usual.

I'm curious as to what the sorcerer plays like, do they still use the limited spell use of Dark Souls, or an MP bar?

Dual swordsman sounds interesting too, but if I can eventually dual wield with any character, I'll probably use the others, depends on if it gets anything unique.

Roccetarius3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

The spells are still limited, just like in Dark Souls 1.

You can see some gameplay here. http://www.youtube.com/watc...

The first being shown is Dual Wielding.

feraldrgn3952d ago

Thanks for that. +Bubs :]

So has Paul Verhoeven stopped making films? lol

I cant wait for Dark Souls 2, fantastic games, theyre full of gameplay, I bet ive invested nearly 1000 hours into Demons Souls/Dark Souls

Games I feel are catered just for me

Gimmemorebubblez3952d ago

Hidetaka Miyazaki claims Dark Souls 2 “carried” the series forward

The game isn't good though.

DS2 was fine. While there was a bit of recycling assets or ideas for bosses, it was a bigger more open Dark Souls. The Fume knight boss is one of the hardest bosses in the series until Sekiro and Elden Ring were released.

The problem with Dark Souls 2 was the same problem when a different director takes over for a sequel to an outstanding movie. It typically (there are exceptions) doesn’t have the feel and vision of the previous movie.

I wouldn’t say Dark Souls 2 is terrible. Had Dark Souls 1 never been a thing and we got this, I think it would have been praised more. The problem is it didn’t have the Miyazaki touch to it and felt pretty derivative. The soundtrack is a banger though.

Aussiesummer57d ago

And it will happen in the future when he doesn’t touch them as he is planning on.

MrBaskerville57d ago

I like DS 2, might even be my favorite of the 3. But it's a hard sell, there's so many obscure things you need to do to make it an enjoyable experience. So always find it hard to recommend, but it is worth the trouble.

All the bosses are only from Dark Souls. No Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, or Demon Souls
