Games in Both Generations - Which Will You Choose?

As it stands, and as it has stood for a long time now, when a game gets released, I have a decision to make. Do I buy the game, or do I not? After seeing how well the game is faring with the critics as well as watching some gameplay footage myself on YouTube, I can then make a decision - is this game worth it at full price, should I wait until there's a price drop, or should I ignore it completely? It's a simple process, and one that does not involve too many complications most of the time.

Fifa 07 xbox was awesome.....Fifa 07 Xbox 360 was awful.

With certain games it's ok to wait. for the Fifa 07 example...they removed so many features just to release the game on time that they didn't "get going" again with the franchise until about Fifa 09...but mainly Fifa 10.

Gonna play devils advocate here and say PS3 games.

Specifically looking forward to GTA V which has been in development for like half a decade? But also Dark SOuls 2, Dragons Crown, Lords of Shadow 2 etc which are games i know im gonna love more than an fps.

Then theres also Wii U games like Smashbros and DKC Tropical Freeze.

Interested in all that stuff more than Killzone SF, Battlefield 4, Destiny, Titanfall etc. So many of the biggest titles for next gen are all fps.

Plus another huge SELLING POINT here is prices. PS3 games prices are dropping like mad. I preordred MGS LEgacy Collection and Dragons Crown both for $45 and $42. I know Dark Souls 2 was available on amazon earlier for $50. And these are still just preorders! Witin 3-4 weeks of most these games releases they'll price cut. Except for GTA V which I think will hold its price simply because of insane demand. So by the time I finish all my PS3 games/vita games/wii u games the ps4 games might have some good sales going.

For me the games are about the games. Substance over style.

I think the real gamers are still going to be more occupied with current gen while the casual gamer will be drawn to the ps4/xb1 games which are mostly fps.

It's why I prefered BFBC2 over BF3. BF3 was a glorified showcase of what pcs were capable of but it was a very poor game in comparison to BFBC2's destruction. Nowhere near as fun on any platform. Nowhere near as polished on console.

That said i'm still gonna sneak in some PS4 goodness too.

Shadowfall looks to be the best Killzone yet.

Second Sun looked really detailed, but the infamous formula is getting old so i really hope they mix up the gameplay and missions in surprising ways.

Battlefield 4 looks like everything I wanted Battlefield 3 to be. HOpefully you can actually get into games with your friends still on your squads... And the voice chat works.... And theres no input lag... And you're not falling through the map... And it isn't designed for high end pcs to the point where the PS4 version is super gimped... I mean pc has got triple display resolution. You'd think theyd at least have the ps4 version running decent at 1080.

Destiny looks okay but idk. The live events sounded cool. but meh.

I'd say Titanfall looked like the best in show for next gen as a ps4 preorderer and hope it comes to ps4. Shouldnt be too hard for them now that they have to remove any of the cloud stuff since MS did a 180 on their policies.

So overall i say BOTH. but i need to get my ass working on my current backlog which is now 30 games long since i keep buying PS+ games for ridiciulously cheap like steam prices every single freakin week. I just can't say no to $1-$2 games. At that price you can't go wrong even if you don't like it.

I remember THPS 2 on the PS1/2 had slightly different level designs. I thought that was really cool and ended up buying both versions.

I used to love the THPS games. For me 2 and 3 were the best. They were the most fun and were fairly simple to just pick up and play. After 3 they got too complicated and should just be kep fairly simple. 3 was probably the peak of the series. Awesome games :)

I'm still torn whether I should get mgs 5 for ps3 now or ps4 later when I get it. Have they released any information on what the differences will be? Next gen will be higher def but will there be any other changes?

I am having the exact same thoughts in regards to FIFA 14. I'm going to be switching from Xbox to PS4, but had plans to pick up FIFA 14 for Xbox...now I still don't know what I'm going to do.

How is having more choices a bad thing? Interested in Battlefield 4? No one is twisting your arm to buy it twice. Or even once, for that matter.

While it is true that there may be a considerable gap between the release of GTA5 for current consoles, and a next-gen version, many new games will (for a time) be released on the same day for all consoles. Most of us will have at least two consoles for quite some time (personally i will have five, including the Wii-U) and the decision to buy a particular version of a game may well be influenced by who we want to play online with.

It's an exciting time for video game development -- serious gamers aren't likely to confine themselves to a single system.
