Yuichi Nakamura To Voice Garrett In Square Enix's Thief 4

The Japanese version of Square Enix’s Thief 4 will be voiced by popular voice actor Yuichi Nakamura as Siliconera reports. Probably best known for his roles as Cid Raines in Final Fantasy XIII, Trey in Final Fantasy: Type 0, Kurt Irving in Valkyria Chronicles III and many more famous video games, to see the full list of games he has been involved in, click on our wikipedia. Nakamura is a safe choice as he has had many voice acting experiences with Square Enix so this announcement comes as no surprise. If you haven’t seen the latest Thief 3 trailer we have the video below.

I hope he doesn't look like Ellen Page. J/K

I've lost all faith in SE to be honest. Square used to be my all time favourite developers, but they seem to have lost it in recent years. Unlike the poster below, I cringed when I found out that SE had something to do with Thief 4. I'll keep my eye on it though, just in case.

the game does have some interesting mechanicsm you'll have to admit.
For example water arrows -arrows with a bobble of water in to put out candles, haha

but i don't like fpw (first person walkarounds) if this game were third person, i'd probaly be interested. It's strange, but im only 18 and have never heard of the Theif's before this game.

Raf1k13954d ago

I think your age may be the reason for that lol. You'd have been just a little kid when Thief originally debuted.

The water arrows have been in Thief for a long time as well as moss arrows that grow moss on the ground so you can walk while making less noise.

I think first person is perfect for a Thief game as it adds so much to the tension when sneaking around and not knowing what's around the corner.

I became interested in Thief 4 when I noticed Square Enix working on it...

AHall883955d ago

Square is only the publisher.
Eidos Montreal is making the game.

MikeyDucati13955d ago

Ok since my words are being recorded, let me clarify what I was saying instead of going for the short talk.

I became interested in Thief 4 when I noticed that Square Enix is publishing the game. I know they will make sure that the standards for this game is pretty high, somewhat how Bethesda is when it comes to them publishing a game. It's going to be interesting. Once I heard that their name was on board, I gave the game a second glance.

GribbleGrunger3954d ago

Cheers for that. I'm officially interested again.

AHall883954d ago (Edited 3954d ago )

@MikeyDucati1

I see.
I tend to ignore publishers and focus only on developers.
By the way, I didn't mean to poke at you or anything, sorry if I ruffled any feathers or anything like that.

MikeyDucati13954d ago (Edited 3954d ago )

@AHall88

No you didn't ruffle my feathers. I'm just naturally a sarcastic person. No I don't tend to ignore the devs and side with pubs. My comment was based upon the remakes that Square Enix has recently published, like TR. It goes without saying that devs deserve the praise. But a ship's crew is nothing without their captain. This time, I was praising the captain for their previous work and expecting that to carry over when dealing with this project. I didn't like the first Thief at all but now I'm interested.

Thanks for the response!! :D

Would it have been so hard to put in "Yuichi Nakamura To Voice Garrett In Square Enix's (Japanese version of) Thief 4" or does the title have a character limit?

sarcastoid3954d ago

People... SE is the publisher, not the developer. Eidoes Montreal is working on Thief (they removed the 4 btw) and they're a fantastic developer (DX:HR was their first game).

Evaproject3954d ago

humm correct me if I am wrong but DX:HR was not their 1st game. It was their 1st one under SE but they've been around for a long time

sarcastoid3954d ago

I can't find any evidence of that but if that's the case then I stand corrected.

minimur123954d ago

yeah but the publishers always have a say in what the development team do

'change this - change that' etc.

Concertoine3954d ago

bring back stephen russell, or change the characters name. Nothing wrong with Nakamura, this is just the role that Russell defined. its like if they changed darth vader's voice actor.

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog22m ago(Edited 19m ago)

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

Yuji Naka guilty of insider trading breaks silence to accuse Square Enix producer of lies

Yuji Naka was fined $1.2 million and given a suspended jail sentence for the crime.

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle13d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger13d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag13d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.
