Dev: Wii U version of Deus Ex is 'the ultimate version'

During a Q&A session about with game designer Emile Pedneault about Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut during E3 2013, he states that the upcoming Wii U game "the ultimate version" compared to its existing ones: PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Tuxmask553949d ago

Aside from Madden, I fail to see how anything Wii U can be the ultimate version of anything.

Pope_Kaz_Hirai_II3949d ago

Sorry but that would be the pc version which i can play in 2560x1600 thats the best version but not saying wii-u version isnt good but saying its the best is off the mark.

ChickeyCantor3949d ago

eh, doesn't this version have improved code?

Xof3949d ago

Since when is visual fidelity the metric by which we judge game quality?

All they have to do to make it superior to the PC or PS3 or 360 version is simply not make Boss fights suck so hard.

Triforce0793949d ago

If they say its better its better get a grip ?? fanboys.

Realplaya3949d ago

Just case the PC looks better does not make it better. Lets be honest the Wii U version looks great and I ads multiple elements that the PC can't. Take away the 2560x1600 of the PC now what does It do better?

The_Con-Sept3949d ago

I have an idea...... I can see it now. "Best 3 year old game experience on this version!"

Sorry I can't play this game on yet another platform just because of motion controls.

LOL_WUT3949d ago

How many times have we heard this? In the end it ends up being subpar ;)

wampdog293949d ago

Yeah, as long as you have a PC that allows you to view the game in that resolution. Guess what, I have a receiver that allows me to upconvert the Wii U to 4K resolution.... see the point?

herbs3949d ago (Edited 3949d ago )

Yah because resolution is what defines how good a game looks and plays lol go home Pope your a molester. The Wii U version is more optimized than any other version of this game with better effects than even the PC version and greatly enhanced gameplay through proper use of the Gamepad.

Get over it troll bitches.

thezeldadoth3949d ago (Edited 3949d ago )

that resolution doesn't make a difference. I have the PC version, and i'm gonna get the Wii U version for the enhanced gameplay, improved lighting and engine, and integrated touch controls. It'll be much more involved and overall a better game. Not to mention that the textures are hi res just like the PC version and will be 1080p.

If you watch the video he even states that it is better looking than the PC version.

You can do all the Madden stuff using Smartglass and don#t quote be but I assume the Vita can do it all too.

Stroke6663949d ago

The thing is you can do it with the wii u out the box for no additional charge everything you need comes with the package

Shnazzyone3949d ago (Edited 3949d ago )

What about NFS Most wanted? Looks the best out of all 3 versions. Deus ex, it looks better than PC, the dev states. Must be the combo of convenient touch screen control options too.

thomasmiller3949d ago

you mean like need for speed, which is far better than the ps3 or 360 versions? there you go champ, but hey what ever helps you sleep at night!!

avengers19783949d ago

Begs the question what's so "ultimate" about it if it's hitting the current generation consoles as well.

My guess? Slightly better looking graphics.

LOGICWINS3949d ago

My guess is the second screen I'll add a whole new level of immersion. I downloaded it off PS Plus and it while I think the subject matter is cool, the game feels like a poor mans Mass Effect. The stealth was frustrating and the shooting doesn't feel satisfying. Every part of the game feels like a chore.

Zichu3949d ago

So how does the second screen improve the stealth and shooting??

BattleAxe3949d ago (Edited 3949d ago )

@ LOGIC

Agreed, definitely an overrated game. I bought it on Steam, and I couldn't bring myself to play it for more than 3 hours. The graphics are average, the shooting is meh (just like you said), the story isn't all that great and the world just feels lifeless.

Its like they were trying to copy different aspects of games such as Rainbow Six Vegas, Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid and The Darkness, but it ultimately ended up feeling really flat on all levels...or at least that was the feeling that I got while playing the game.

LOGICWINS3949d ago (Edited 3949d ago )

Zichu, I never said it did. I just said it would make the game more immersive as in controlling augmemtations and hacking via touch controls.

@BattleAxe- Yeah, the gameplay isnt satisfying. Dont know why it gt such high praise from critics.

TechnicianTed3949d ago

'Dont know why it gt such high praise from critics. '

Maybe because other people liked it more than you did, because your opinion isn't the holy grail of gaming?

LOGICWINS3949d ago

Obviously others liked it more than I did. What I stated is that I dont understand "why" they liked it more than I did.

TechnicianTed3949d ago

I'm sure you've been on this planet long enough to know that people have different tastes Logic. There are people that love different music to me, I understand it's because they have different tastes, I've known that for a long time.

If you're still having problems understanding that, then I don't know what to say, because it's a basic fact of life.

Xof3949d ago

Mass Effect 3 is the poor man's Mass Effect.

LOGICWINS3949d ago

TechnicianTed, even people who have certain tastes can explain WHY they have certain tastes. For instance, some people prefer fish/reptiles as pets because they are allergic to dog/cat fur.

TechnicianTed3949d ago

Ok LOGICWINS I'll let you know why I love Deus Ex.

I love it because it gives you a lot of freedom of choice in how you tackle objectives, there are not enough games of this type for my liking, and Deus Ex is one of the best ones. I also love the world it's set in, and all the back story that can be uncovered along the way.

While I don't think it is better than the original Deus Ex, it is still a great example of how a game of this type can work.

There you go, now you know.

_QQ_3949d ago

I think it has gamepad features, we will see but i'm not expecting much.

PopRocks3593949d ago (Edited 3949d ago )

Apparently you're not the only one if those ten disagrees on my initial comment is an accurate representation of just how many people could not pick up on my sarcasm.

_QQ_3949d ago

I think on this site it may be safe to assume that those disagrees came from the slightly better graphics comment.

PopRocks3593948d ago

No kidding. I was being sarcastic and no one caught it. That "slightly better graphics" bit was supposed to be in line with the first part of the comment.

As in I don't expect slightly better graphics at all. If anything I'm cynical of anything about the Wii U version being "ultimate" given that the game is coming to every platform.

thezeldadoth3949d ago

better graphics, native 1080, reworked boss battles, and touch controls which will be really great with this particular game.

Shnazzyone3948d ago (Edited 3948d ago )

The ultimate part is with this version the boss battles are not outsourced. They are actually redone by the original developers. The boss battles really were a huge complaint about the original and that is kindof a big deal. In addition, there are tweaks to improve the overall interface, features added, and of course. Graphics and framerate improvements. That is what makes it the ultimate version.

BosSSyndrome3948d ago

Yeah, you should probably have put a sarcasm tag there...

PopRocks3593948d ago (Edited 3948d ago )

Thanks for telling me after the fact. :D Totally didn't get that on my own.

The idea behind a "Director's Cut" is it includes things they weren't able to fit in the Original. Either stuff they wanted to do but didn't have the time/money, or new things they came up with since release.

Better graphics, more content, more intuitive inventory/menu system all leads to what should be a better product. At least that's what the math says.
