Weekly Sales Analysis, 15 June - The Last of Us

Overall hardware sales increased by 36 percent week-on-week. Week-on-week sales are up for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, 3DS, and Vita. Overall year-on-year sales are up slightly. The 3DS is up 84 percent year-on-year and the PlayStation 3 is up three percent. The DS has dropped by 74 percent year-on-year, the biggest by percent.

Two games debuted in the top 30 this week. The Last of Us (PS3) debuted at the top of the charts with sales of 1.17 million units. The game launched in North America and Europe.

Wii U will be fine. The Xbox One is $499, people aren't going to pick between those two systems. Either you want a Wii U or you want a Xbox One...or you want both.

Digital sales. And it is outselling Uncharted 3 at retail and is in higher demand.

One thing is for sure, ND outdid themselves again.

That's fine, it still did very well... But then again it's VGChartz, I'd wait till official numbers from Sony/ND as they had UC3 crazy under tracked compared to the official numbers.

MGS4 did better on Day 1 then that did all week. This was back in 2008 when the PS3 was still $499 and $599. Console sells went up 4003% as well back then.

TLOU sold 1.3 million copies in about 3 days, and that doesn't include Walmart, Amazon or Digital. So let's wait for the full deal, but that is still incredible for any game to sell that much. Naughty Dogs deserves it.

As of December 2009 a year and a half later after it first came out, the game had sold over 5 million copies worldwide, as stated on page 5 of Konami's 3rd Quarter Financial Results. This milestone labeled it as the best-selling PlayStation 3 exclusive until the release of Gran Turismo 5.

Again, no Naughty Dog game is going to touch this and I love Naughty Dog games. I've plated them all a long time ago and was the number one player in the world in Co-Op for the first 6 months in UC2. I can prove it.
