Battlefield 4 Alpha PC Performance and Settings Unveiled

Now we talked how PC is the lead platform for Battlefield 4 and you may know that the Alpha version of the game went live a few days ago. Russian gaming site, GameGPU.RU tested the Battlefield 4 Alpha version with a wide variety of graphic cards at various settings which you might be interested to look into. It should be noted that the optimization for the game should not be considered final as the game is still an Alpha phase which means its in a very early stage of development. BETA and the final retail version would improve the games performance drastically and GPU makers would offer new and improved drivers for their cards for improved frames and stable gameplay.

Maybe I'll have a Christmas miracle and Newegg will accidentally ship me someone else's pair of 780s.... and a bigger PSU.

A bit early too decide to get a new Graphics card, isn't it? CAn't you guys just get the game and try first, THEN get a new GPU if you feel like you have to?

I mean, I've tried several Alpha builds over the years, and by the time the game is out it has been optimized a lot. And then there is a few months of driver optimization from AMDATI / Nvidia that REALLY helps in terms of frames per second.

Meh, it's only alpha, performance will increase drastically by the final release. I'm not worried, I have an HD7850 myself.

It's pretty easy to learn. I went from knowing nothing about computers to knowing a lot in less than a few weeks just from watching how-to videos and googling terms I didn't understand once every few days.

I wouldn't be worried, aren't these all on Ultra? It's only Alpha after all, and will be more optimised as the game progresses :)

I think the final build will be a lot more efficient. The FPS drop from 4xMSAA to no MSAA is extremely small. In BF3 and other games, it is a pretty significant drop.

Don't worry dude. BF3 beta ran like dog crap on my GTX 460, when the final game came out I played it on Ultra without MSAA up until last month when I got the HD7850. Trust me, don't discredit the 7850 yet, it's a great card and it will stay that way for quite some time.

Its in alpha, A lot of games see well over a 100% increase in performance towards the end of beta.

QUESTION i had a hunch this gonna happen as a GTX560 was recommended for BF3 How they gonna maintain 60FPS on consoles as my 7970 has hard time on bf4 looking at this chart.

Its in alpha, games recieve next to zero optimization until mid to late beta, maby games recieve performance increases of up to, or beyond 100% in the beta stage. According to a quick google search 7970's can run most current "next gen games" maxed out at up to 100fps if you do a little overclokcing. Even the article claims that the performance is nothing near final.
If its any consolation, your graphics is 10 time more powerful than the one in my laptop, and i Can max out BF3 at 720p. If your 7970 breaks a sweat with a game AT ALL its probably not a well made game.

Well right now my 7970 is over clocked well this gen games such as crisis 3 hitman absalution even bf3 getting a stable 60 FPS maxed out still tuff. So if what your saying is right next gen games based around AMD then im very happy but 100 FPS ..... Thx for head up :)

People should wait until the game is out before they get ready to buy new hardware for it. As was said in the article, this is a very early version of the game, and current performance is in no way indicative of the performance of the final gold game. It was similar when BF3 was coming out, they even had graphs showing the performance, but as it turned out, even some budget cards could run the game just fine on High.

BF4 doesn't look mind-blowingly better, so I doubt the hardware needed will be this steep.

Yes, logically speaking, your CPU is good and your GPU is really nice, so you should be able to run the final game just fine. Hell, just wait til the MP beta eventually comes out, performance will be vastly improved over this version as well.

That 780 is only 3 FPS behind the Titan, also my GTX 580 SLI's is getting outdated soon I have only had them for like 2 years >.<

Wah hahahahaha!!!!! guess ill pull through, Gtx 690 with 32gb ram and an i7 3770. Well hopefully, cause if it isn't enough I ain't upgrading, spent way to much on this rig already. credit card is still in recovery, sticking to console gaming come PS4, had to buy my dream rig at least once, but its a bitter sweet with Pc gaming.

my [email protected] and a 7950@1200/1530 w/8GB ram @ 2250mhz should be albe to run this at 1080p w/o aa at above 50fps avg. ;)

Like the article says its in alpha and far from optimised. Personally I'm just gonna keep my SLI 580's for another year or so. They'll be able to handle BF4 close to max 1080p60.

According to the chart it says 40 fps at the moment(in unoptmized alpha), so i would confidently say a 660 GTX will max it out at at least 60fps on launch.
