Part 2 of the Double Plus Good Games interview with the creators of the Neverhood, Earthworm Jim, Skullmonkeys and now the new Kickstarter project, Armikrog. "Armikrog isn’t just a new video game. It’s a re-visitation of an era that welcomed new, interesting, and often oddball ideas. It’s the herald of things to come, but also a hearkening back to things that were, and things that could have been."
For the uninitiated, The Neverhood is a claymation FMV point and click adventure game that was released on the PC in 1996. Yes, the same year as Mario 64, Resident Evil, Quake, Crash Bandicoot, and Civilization 2. It's safe to assume that it never stood a chance. It was clear that a shift in the market was taking place
Moshe Sweet recalls his memories of Blockbusters, some bad games and one great one: Skullmonkeys.
The Neverhood UE4 is a remarkably authentic feeling fan made remake of the 1996 cult classic stop motion point and click adventure – The Neverhood.
Earthworm jim now that takes me back!!
Him and cool spot.... legends.
Absolutely agree! After talking with Pencil Test I couldn't believe how many memories came screaming back. We'll have the audio podcast going up this week where they talked about the Cool Spot arcade machine (which I didn't even know existed) as well as the Neverhood air hockey game from Japan.
This is why we love interviewing these 90's developers so much as they are able to bring so much context, and so many connections, to video game history.
