Forget the Saints Row 4 Dubstep gun, it's all about the Singularity Black Hole Launcher

GameZone writes, "Much has been made of the Dubstep Gun in Saints Row 4. Heck, a replica of the weapon is even included in the special 'Super Dangerous Wub Wub Edition' of the game. But while the Dubstep gun is the glitz and glamor of the game -- turning your foes into beat pumping, fist pounding, light flashing, dancing fools -- it's actually not my weapon of choice. Yes, it's over the top, but if you are looking for straight up overpoweredness, you're going to want the Singularity Black Hole Launcher."

GTA 5 is coming out in like 3 weeks after this game. SR 4 is gonna get massacred.

Dubstep gun? Unbelievable.

R.I.P. Saints Row.

nick3093954d ago

Saints row 3 sold 5.5 million copies, dont bury sr iv just yet, it was a fun game and it has time to sell a few millions.

Donnieboi3954d ago

It sold alot because of the anticipation it had AFTER the popularity of SR2. IF SR2 was popular, then of course SR3 would sell more due to the hype. But IMO SR3 sucked. It was weird, short, and had lost much of the customization that SR2 had. Also, SR2 had a fun story, but SR3's wasn't fun--it was just all over the place. I don't mind that it was wacky, but it was just a poorly written version of a wacky story. Plus the dialog was terribly uninspired and generic.

Blacktric3953d ago

It's just like what Donnieboi says. It had the hype of SR 2 behind it but considering how idiotic 3 ended up being, I'm pretty sure it won't sale as good as 3.

"Dubstep gun? Unbelievable."

Couldn't agree more. They took this whole "over the top" bullshit to the next level solely to try to give the game its own identity. SR 1 and 2 was more than fine with what it had and they should've kept it the way it is instead of making a whole game that revolves around main character being the president and trying to fend off an alien invasion.

nick3093954d ago

I know about the story but overall saints row is pretty much about causing mayhem, gta needs to put co op like sr does.

Donnieboi3954d ago

Yeah There's still some things that GTA can learn from SR series--like how to be less serious, having co-op, and letting you customize the color of your clothing.

Baka-akaB3953d ago

Still sr3 dissapointed most of its fanbase , as it featured less of everything they loved . And sr4 shouldnt even be called a true sequel

Fat-Milkers3953d ago

Let the kids play SR4 with its stupid series direction.Real men play GTA, save your money and buy like a man.

GentlemenRUs3953d ago

The way you said all that, Makes you look like a kid yourself.

But, I will buy this game and let the brother play it... Because I'm the only bother in this world which cares about his younger bothers!

SR4 will be for happy hours, Nothing like getting drunk and going mad on SR3 ;)

RememberThe3573953d ago

Bubbles for making me laugh and getting people all butthurt.

RememberThe3573953d ago

This is kind of where I wanted Ratchet and Clank to go. After Up Your Arsenal I hoped they'd take the series in a more adult humor direction, keeping the kiddy aesthetics and mixing in some adult humor would have been awesome. Like Conker, but better.

SR4 looks ridiculous and thats fuckin awesome. We need more big budget games that don't take themselves too seriously.

NarooN3953d ago

Saints Row is pretty much trash now, SR2 was where the series peaked and I doubt they'll make any more like that. Saints Row 2 had an excellently-written story, with great characters, and it had the right mix of realism and craziness. SR3 decided to scratch all that and just turn the batshit-insanity meter up to 11, which was fun and amusing at first, but got old quickly.

As JC Denton would say, what a shame.

MadLad3953d ago

Saints Row 3 was fun.
Saints Row 4 is probably going to be fun.

People need to grow up and accept change when it happens. Especially when that change ends in a rather good game. If you want Saints Row 2 . . . play Saints Row 2. If you hate the series' direction, don't buy it.
This is just the way of things. The series is doing just fine for itself, it seems.

NarooN3953d ago

Yeah that line of thinking works until you realize not everyone thinks like you do. Maybe people liked the series because they liked the way things were handled in SR1 & 2. Thus when SR3 came out, people were obviously disappointed.

Just because someone doesn't like something, doesn't mean they're not allowed to voice their displeasure over it, and it doesn't mean they're unable to "accept change" either.

MadLad3953d ago

People are allowed to voice their opinions. As am I.
I am just bringing up that few of those people go about voicing their displeasure in a way that is little more than whining that the game isn't Saints Row 2.
I'll leave with the last half of my original post:
"If you want Saints Row 2 . . . play Saints Row 2. If you hate the series' direction, don't buy it."

Volition's Saints Row 4 PC upgrade was meant to be a make-good, but it broke the game instead

Remember this year's Saints Row(opens in new tab)? Volition would probably prefer that you didn't, which might go some way to explaining why the studio recently decided to upgrade everyone's copy of Saints Row 4(opens in new tab) to its full-fat Re-elected Edition, containing all the game's story and cosmetic DLC and even introducing cross-play between Steam, Epic, and GOG versions of the game.

Unfortunately, that upgrade seems to have backfired, and players now report a myriad of bugs with their new version of SR4. Both the Saints Row Steam forums(opens in new tab) and subreddit(opens in new tab) are filled with players complaining of broken saves, crashes, and mods failing to function. It's also received a few hundred negative Steam reviews(opens in new tab) since the update. If it's succeeded in washing the taste of Saints Row (2022) out of players' mouths, it's only because it tastes even worse.

I wonder if Volition's getting reorged under Gearbox impacted the quality of their release.

jeromeface488d ago

i can't help but laugh at this comment. Gearbox can't even run themselves.
