NeGcon and UltraRacer controllers used for EVERY Dual Shock Playstation racing game ever made

The year was 1995 and many of us remember when the world of video games was dramatically changing with the advent of faster frame rates, 3D perspectives, and realistic texture mapping. The home game console technology opened up a whole new experience for those who liked to get behind the wheel and power-slide to victory.
Many of our favorite older driving controllers will not function with newer driving games, but there is a way around it.
In this article and video, Steve from NerdKO tells us how we can use our favorite old school driving controllers, Including the NeGcon and others, with newer PS2 and PS3 games.

Great piece. Loved the article and video.

Jeez, I remember when the neGcon come out thinking what a rediculous and stupid design for a controller, and just removed the product from my memory banks because it was so horrible. This video is actually the first time it's been brought back to memory and now as a huge sim racing fan and a couple racing sims on console getting pretty close to actually being sims imo......the design of the neGcon is actually GENIUS for a racing sim fan that would want fairly realistic steering, but can't afford the $150-$300 steering wheels.

How genius is it? Well hold your dual shock and kinda twist it like you're steering a car. It feels decently "right" except turning it like that fights your other hand. Now imagine a twisting axis in the middle, and you've basiacally got a perfectly scaled down steering wheel.

Man......I really wish this controller design would be revisited today, with modern force feedback integrated into the twisting mechanism. I really think it would be a HUGE hit today with there being so many more sim racing fans these days that are really into the realism instead of just being into an awesome racing game.

Golden Axe is a great game I enjoyed it on the SMS, Genesis and in the arcade. Great game but it truly was a quarter eater back in the day. I wish Sega could get the rights to the arcade port of Moonwalker another great arcade game I enjoyed. Collect so many monkeys and become Robo Michael lol.
