I Really Like The New Dual Shock Controller

Game Informer - This E3 was my first chance to put the PlayStation 4 through its paces, and so far I'm very pleased with the new Dual Shock 4 controller.

I always turn rumble off to preserve the battery. Also because I like balancing my controller on my leg while i'm eating something or typing. But that's good to hear.

Can't pick and choose on kotaku...

I reallllyy hope they used another type of springs for the l2 and r2 triggers because after alot of play the ds3 springs tend to soften up a little

I hate vibration with a passion, makes my hands go numb, takes me out of the game and distracts me, makes noise if i put it down, and also vibrates it's way onto the floor or something.

Can't wait to get my hands on the Dual Shock 4

i 2nd that my friend.. Nothing in the world could describe how excited i am to get this in my hands to play all these great new games.. It just looks so damn perfect & we have all been stuck with the same design since PS1.. This is a god send & long overdo.. I love the original DS controls but the sliding thumbs was getting really old.. These triggers look so sexy now too

We have a devkit and let me tell you, prototype feels amazing. Thanks to 'meatier' handles it feels so much better in hands than DS3. And springs on triggers and sticks give a little bit more resistance which gives more precision. And retail version will be even better thanks to proper materials. Can't wait!

It looks much more ergonomic so i'm happy.

That said, I still do prefer the layout of the Xbox controller specifically for shooters. All other games I prefer the dualshock's stick placement.

Currently I am using the Fus1on tournament controller for the PS3 and I highly recommend it. It has no deadzone issues and feels more natural to me.

It seems like a no brainer for Sony to eventually release their own branded controller with the microsoft stick placement. Regardless, I hope PowerA releases a new PS4 controller although i'm assuming it will take them a while to get it right again with all the new features like the touchpad etc.

Does anyone here knows the battery life of the Dual shock 4?. Just askin

project_pat363962d ago

considering the wiiu's pro game controller has 80hrs roughly, I would assume the same about ds4

farhad2k83962d ago

I'd say 50-60 hours.
The DS4 controller has a light bar, and a built in speaker, and I'm guessing it has better rumble than the Wii-U controller, so it will certainly have less battery life, unless Sony stick in a larger MAh battery.
