Xbox One Achievements

Instead of spreading hateful and negative comments towards people that, out of personal interest, want the Xbox One. Go to PS4 blogs and forums and share your happiness and bliss about your favorite console maker Sony. QUIT TROLLING AND GET A LIFE!!!

Not everyone who hates The One is a Sony fan, a lot of us are MS fans upset at the new direction.

If you look online you'll see just about every poll on every site has a 90/10 swing in favour of Sony.

To think otherwise is pure ignorance.

Or they're just the most vocal. To pretend what you said is right would be the real ignorance. That's like EA being the worst company in America. Is it the worst? Hell no. Worst publisher? Yes. But out of all of those companies they were not the worst. But as you can see the most vocal group speaks the most. I would imagine that most of the fans aren't being vocal. It's pre-ordering fairly well, so clearly not everyone is pissed. Facts are facts, you should try to use them more.

This reasoning is why xbone is where it is right now.

Instead of accepting and settling, fans should have gotten together and protested just like PS4 fans.

Instead it was either "wait until..." or it "doesn't affect me so..."

But it does affect you. Loyal ten year xbox fans are crossing over to the competitor. When you have PS4 totally capturing the mindshare and reportedly the majority of pre-orders, that could be troubling for X1 purchasers because publishers will often chase the larger user base.

Look at WiiU and Vita. Publishers state they won't develop games for these systems until the userbase expands, but that won't happen without more games. That always online bit does affect you, even if you don't see it immediately.

It's not just that, for me it's the monopolisation of the second-hand gaming market. The all round money grubbing attitude of MS just doesn't sit well with me.

We have no clue how the fee will even work, or who it benefits. (Microsoft, or developer) It might be included into Gold subscriptions, it might be extremely cheap. As much as I buy used games I only buy really old games. Buying used games that are within a few months old is nothing but harmful to developers. Most likely this generation you'll see developers just flat out block the resale of their titles. I could do without the fee, but we should wait and see if it's included into Live fees first.

Don't see it as trolling. Yes we're doing this across multiple websites but we can only do this for a certain period of time (from the day the rumours started untill the day MS drops the restrictions) so it's more like a Challenge, and yes, they can be fun for a while. Just a few more months.

What are you going on about? These achievements are for games. There is some kind of model separate for earning a "badge" of some sort for TV, but the gamer score from games is what's being pushed. And the free achievements they'll be adding to games if developers decide to take advantage. (which they most likely will)

I wonder if there is a inbuilt achievement in the console that will popup if you dont go online after 24 hours.

Been a 360 fanboy since 2006. Bought 4 consoles till now including MW2 edition, Slim, One arcade and one premium (2006 jan). I have about 75k Gamer score, i was looking forward to getting the unit at launch time in my region (UAE, middle east) as I had done with 360 by buying off ebay as officially 360 didn't launch here for at least one year. I didn't mind the always on and trading / reselling restriction ever since the games reveal at E3 but what has now really P#$#$$d me off after reading a news report earlier today that X1 will be not only be limited to initial launch in 26 countries, Asia / africa most of it out, but also it will be region locked and games wont play even if you import from any of the launch regions.

I'd say big FU to MS and XB division for really trying hard to screw the gamers and fans.

Been on N4G since 2006 or 2007 and hardline sony hater and 360 fan but I'd go and pick up or import a PS4 if MS does'nt retract their B$ campaign alienating their loyal fans.

Sadly it doesnt matter to me now. I love achievements but with their new policies I wont be experiencing them Me and some buddies used to trade and borrow games amongst ourselves just for the sole purpose of gaining acievements. Lots of these games were games I had no desire or cash to pay for.Played them just for achievements. Thats going to be a thing of the past, borrowing games on the xbox1. Im just about to reach 60,000 gamerscore and I will miss the xbox franchise. So please MS. change your policies. I want to stay.But I won't you can believe that if policies on trading and renting don't change.

And speaking of policies. The always online one really hit home yesterday. I came home from work and the internet was down. Called Mediacom and they hadnt reported outtages in the area. My girlfriend said the cable and internet had been down all day( this happens from time to time). Mediacom finally came and fixed it around 7:00pm. My question is, if I had a XBOX1 yesterday would I have been able to play it at all. Im really unsure at this point. Also I remeber a time around Christmas in 2007 or 08 when XBOX live was down for awhile. If this happens again would I be able to play xbox1? I think it was a major influx of players that holiday season that caused the problem but Im not sure on this.

This is the problem with the requirement to connect at least once every 24 hours. It's not needed. MS can authenticate games just as well by requiring a connection only when installing games. So in your scenario if the internet went down for more than 24 hours you could still use the console, just not install anything new. I have yet to hear any reason for the 24 hr check-in requirement. MS makes it seem their whole online games experience infrastructure would collapse if someones console didn't connect.
