With someone who preordered the Xbox one, The sales rep at gamestop let it slip that of the 100 Xbox one and PS4 spots up for preordered, PS4 has 88, spots filled verses the 22 spots filled for MS's all in one entertainment system, I became spot number 89. People aren't happy with MS's 180° turn with it's fanbase, which is why Sony's conference resonated. Everyone got hyped for the halo 5 teaser for the Xbox one, but when MS said Nov 2013 at $499 for the Xbox one availability with all that DRM bs the tune was no clapping.

- Windows Phones are not very popular
- Xbox One looks to be a flop
- Google Chrome and Firefox seem to be the browsers of choice with most people I talk to
- Open Office software is growing in popularity as is Google Docs
- Games for Windows Live is a complete failure
- Valve is helping to bring Linux to the forefront
- Microsoft Surface hasn't caught on with consumers
- Gmail is far more popular than Outlook

the PS2 days were horrible... innovation had stalled for the most part and Sony purposely sabatoged Dreamcast forums and fan sites... it was really bad back then. That's fair I guess, the xbox 360 did have an amazing start, it later tapered off and PS3 has been the go to console for the past 3-4 years, only people who never owned a 360 would say it has always sucked but the truth is, it didn't, when it was first launched it was actually pretty awesome, PGR, Dead Rising, Halo, the first Gears, it was actually pretty great, but then it just started to tank and I returned to the Playstation world and got a ps3, and I'm glad I did...

Part of those sales in the beginning are probably due to people having to buy multiple 360s. I'm on my 3rd right now actually, and its an elite with a custom fan. Had to make sure it wouldn't overheat...

They fucked up last gen too, just not enough to lose their dedicated fan boys like they did this year. Plus they had a year lead on sony which made a HUGE difference in the beginning even though it was a rushed out unfinished product.

You're making the assumption that $399 would be sold at a loss for MS. Considering they use a cheaper GPU and much cheaper RAM(probably by close to $100 on the RAM alone) dropping to $399 would most likely be breaking even. Sony should be making a slight profit. But $399 would, at worse be a slight loss for MS. And considering all of the possibilities with their design for other revenue that PS4 can't do, that would be small change. $499 is about MS making a profit day one. And MS have more room to drop price over the long haul.

Yes Logic. MS can take a hit and drop the price of the XBOX one, but Sony can as well, given that SCE is apart of SONY Corp, They can tap into that nearly 14 billion dollars if things get dire for the whole company! Given how the PS brand was the only thing for 5 years making Sony profitable even after the PS3 depleted most of the profit made from the PS2 era, Sony still managed to launch a machine that does much of the same the Xbox One and comes in cheaper and more powerful.

If price wars is what you think MS can do, dont forget that Sony can do it too. They are valued quite high as a business and got plenty to fall back on in reserves to keep the company bringing in a profit. And Sony has more coming in with this Production cycle given the PS3 is making a profit and the PS4 isn't costing them much to produce.

When the ps3 launched I actually waited in line all night cause I remember how hard it was to find a 360 and I already preordered a wii. And would you believe every single person in line besides me was talking about all the money they were going to make off reselling on eBay. There were even people constantly checking eBay and watching preorder bids go up and up.

Not really sure what that has to do with anything. If they're buying it to flip it, then there would need to be a 2nd buyer to purchase the flipped item. Hence, demand is the same.

If it's like the Wii U though, where supply is not as limited as people thought it would be, then your theory holds weight. But all indicators are pointing to PS4 being a sell out item this holiday.

I have a couple 360 friends who I would consider fan boys, and they hate what MS is doing. They asked me about it after their reveal, because they don't really keep up with this stuff. I know at least one of them is getting a PS4, and the other will probably follow since they play games together.

When all your friends have a PS4 you have to join them.

This gen was pretty much 50:50 so it wasn't that much of a problem for MS

The problem with Killer Instinct is that it's not made by the same devs who did the others. It's not even being done by Rare. :\

It's being made by devs who have a pretty bad track record on the quality of their games. So I wouldn't put much faith in it if I were you. (This coming from a HUGE fan of Killer Instinct sadly.)

In the beginning I was totally sold on the PS4 to be my gaming device, but that was before the Xb1 announcement . I told my friends that I would wait until I saw something from Xbox...

E3 is here the build up before E3 was that Microsoft failed, and all the other rumors with the Xbox1 failing at being a gaming system. The press conference started and I was blown away by Metal Gear, not because it was Metal Gear but because of the graphics , now as a previous Xbox 360 owner I felt comfortable with what the Xbox1 could do, I went out and Preordered the system, and I preordered Nba 2k14, Battlefield and Watch Dogs all coming out on launch day.. Yes the PS4 is cheaper I was planning on paying at least $500 anyways , I am 30 yrs old , I work , I have a budget for my video game habit, also the fact that I have been waiting for Pc gaming to come on console for years, now let's look at all Xbox or Xbone has to offer entertainment , cloud computing, Xbox live, and the Kinect...... Cloud computing interested me the most because of the possibilities that can be done with it ..

Let's look at the PS4 and why I was sold on purchasing it, the PS4 is more powerful, I did not own a PS3, and maybe PS4 gamers may differ from Xbox gamers, these are solid reasons for me to go out and pre order the PS4 in my mind right then it hit me, Xbone offers more, if Microsoft is right the risk I take dispite all the negative press will be the right choice, the only thing I would lose out on by not owning a PS4 will be the power of the PS4, I will be pissed off if the multiplatform games look very different on the PS4, but I will be mad but I can live with it..

Now let's touch on what the mobs are talking about , all of the lynching being done towards Microsoft DRM, and checking in 24 hrs etc , Sony could have gone the same route with these policies, and with both companies doing the same thing I wonder what would be the determine factor in buying either system ? ah that's right games, power to deliver the games, multiplayer support, and extras, so to everyone out there stop being followers and become a leader

All you did was write a 4 paragraph statement about games. Will I miss Halo ? Sure, does Titanfall look good? yes it does... but the point is unless you have time to play EVERY game out there, there are always good games available to both systems. Killzone is fun, Halo is fun, Forza is fun, Driveclub looks good. So yes, it is about games, but games you own, and the best multiplats available. From the info we have received so far, it appears Ps4 multiplats will have an edge, but that remains to be seen. Graphics - same thing, it appears ps4 has an edge but we don't know for sure yet.
If you were a real "leader" you would gather all the relevant information and apply it, not just pat yourself on the back for going against the crowd. You would wait and see which system suits your style and really plays the best, if it was really about games.
Then you say "sony could have done the same thing"... and i realized it was another fanboy rant.... "sony will do the same", "sony could have done the same" , "wait for e3" , "wait till Launch".... etc......

Ummm...Sony could have gone the same route...but they didn't. That's why MS is getting sent to the curb. It's a pretty significant part of this whole debate. They can both deliver the games...the question is, are people willing to accept what you have to put up with to game on the X1. Sony removed(or never had) that question from their console, so the choice is much easier to make.

Now look at the only Xbone option on there. See how it says "day one edition"? Know what that means? PS4 launch edition was at #1 until it sold out. Xbox fan here.. I will buy the more impressive machine at launch.. I actually liked the xboxone games better than the ps4 games in the conferences. I am not sure of the value of TV integration of the Xbox scheme for me since i live in Iceland. Xbox support for Iceland actually has SUCKED!

I think Kinect is "gimmicky" and do not enjoy using it, do not like to be forced to buy it and do not like the idea of having a potential surveillance device in my living room.

I do not like the fact that xboxone will be unusable if not internet connected.. What if you would like to use it on your vacation where there is no internet connection?

It's not really a vote. It's how many people view the Playstation 4 page and how many people view the Xbox One page. It's also broken. You can click to view either one and it'll add one to the number reqardless if you're a new viewer or not. I tested this by opening the PS4 link in new tab eight times and then refreshed the page only for PS4s number to increase by eight.

There's plenty of proof out there that people like the PS4 better than Xbox One, but this one isn't proof. It could very well be one person opening up repeated tabs like I did to artificially increase the count. The same could happen with the Xbox One's count.

Amazon Emailed me to let me know that my pre order is the Launch Edition of PS4.. I wouldve been SUPER PISSED if it were the standard which ships after they restock.. I will in no effin way purchase the xbox one even if it were priced the same & ditch the DRM.. Theres still too many restrictions for my liking & they didnt have any games i want that cant be found on PS4... Killer Instinct didnt look that great to me & i was a major fan of the series.. It looked good, not fantastic.. So theres nothing they have im interested in.. Plus sony has so many great exclusives, great support, & everything else about PS4 was just GREAT! except the look of the system.. Thats just good.. They usually make sexier machines but no biggie..

Right now the polls are about 25,000/1500.

If you divide that it's about 1/16th of PS4's numbers.

If one million people buy consoles this year, based on this ratio:

60,000 for XBO

vs.

As for what I have seen so far I can honestly say the Xbox one is going to be the first console I will not buy. I do feel they will give in and lower the price and I do think they thought PS4 was gonna cost an arm and a leg. That was the reason I didn't get a PS3 at launch, thought it was insane for it to cost so much.

Did anyone have any doubts after seeing what MS is doing, that the Xbox One would illicit such a response?
I've been a proponent and fan of the Xbox brand for 12 years now. I have 7 years straight on XBL Gold, and a modest gamer score of 40K. I've played multiplayer games on my 360 over my PS3, and This gen I've said many times that I felt like Sont dropped the ball with the PS3....BUT, What MS is doing is nothing short of Horrific.
After 12 years of support, I will not be continuing to give them my money. I have a Wii U, and will likely get and use the PS4 as my primary console this coming Gen.

It's sad really, I've owned EVERY console since the N64 on launch day.
The Xbox One will be the console that breaks that chain for me.
