Xbox One: Uncut & indexed games not playable in Germany

Apparently uncut games and indexed games are not playable on Xbox One in Germany. That's because of the 24 hours login and the region lock. For most countries in Europe that will make no difference, because games are age-tested by PEGI. In Germany, however, the USK is responsible for age rating.

If you buy a uncut game from Austria which isnt available in Germany, it probably won't work with your german account.

So MS are basically doing Region, Region, Region locking?

1. The normal area region locking (PAL, NTSC)

2. Your country has to be on the supported country list

3. The game has to be used within the specified region that the game is intended for

That really sucks for German gamers.

German games have USK.
They can still play X1 games. Just not from other countries in Europe.

The USK in Germany is pretty cool these days. Gears of War or God of War for example were uncut in Germany.

It is just that games using Nazi-symbols will be cut. Yeah, I can live with that.

Other than that, the article is speculating as hell. This is a rumor at best and not news.

Someone already asked @xboxde on twitter but they were unable to give a definite answer.

And if you weren't aware of it, steam doesn't allow you to verify these games either without using a proxy.

So, with a console which verifies the games at least once a day... I think you get it.

My friend who is die hard MS said he wanted facts not just speculation about the X1 so I sent him the link to the terms & policies yesterday. He text me today and he went and pre-ordered the PS4. Still wont work....MS will ip check and match with MAC address on console. Part of the validation check is firmware checks. You know, so they can stop jtaggers.

Germany use the USK (I think thats what its called) compared to PEGI for the rest of europe. Now the USK is censor crazy, they edit a lot of stuff out of games. This basically means Germany will never see certain uncut games on the XBone, as the titles will be locked to Germany only (Indexed via an online database). Not even importing a game will help, as like I said above they've effectively done a triple region lock.

I've mentioned this before. Many seem ok with supporting kickstarters for indies and products.

Here's an idea....why don't we start a kickstarter to buy ad space to counter MS?! Sure we'd go broke lol......but I think a little properly placed ads could really gain traction!
Imagine a sideboard at the nhl playoffs or a nfl 5 sec tv ad....calling to action a website that informs and gathers data and testimonies?

Write up a blog about it and see what happens. Probably better to start it on Gaf though. Sony doesn't really need our help in advertising though. They seem to be on top of things.

Social media is already doing the work you're talking about for the most part. Retailers will likely do the rest. MS is in for a long haul on an icy slope.

I think it means uncensored and not given the German age rating. The Germans are quite sensitive about certain games evoking Nazi sentiment and things like that.

I'm out of touch on just how these hackers worked their mojo this gen on 360. I jumped ship 4yrs ago.

But....I recall reading that jtaggers were able to hack 360 to the point where they could set up their own servers. Effectively cutting out LIVE completely.

Think that might happen to xbone? And with the humiliating crap MS has going on, proving they are willing to eat $hit...I willing to bet they'll be begging the NSA for assistance I getting all those hackers!
