is no more than just a heavy android device when you bring it outside! it can only stream pc games at home when it's connected to the same network your pc is on. outside, you'll be limited to just android stuff. what good will THAT do?

Nvidia should stick with what they do best: gpu's and mobile cpu's. They are top notch in those areas.

I just don't see this product being very successful. But in 1-2 years if I seen that thing clearanced for under $99, I'd be all over it.

With all respect to Nvidia Company " Shield " Looks like A really Stupid Idea to go head to head with next gen. Consoles , 1) weakness is the cost ! 350 dollars , 2) it's NOT the good ( Time ) to go head to Head with Next Generation Systems . 3) " Shields " Handheld is Fantastic Idea BUT with WEAK Graphic technology " Tegra " chip , not mentioning this technology will be available inside most of " Mobile phones " NEXT YEAR , and it's NOT that big different in term of graphical Power of PSV .

I think if they lunched " shields " 2 years ago might been a good idea ,Nvidia is one of the TOP Graphics Cards GAINTs in the world " WHY the hell not installing A stronger chip than Tegra !? I will buy shields ONLY if the graphics look like xbox 360 or PS3 .... This is my opinion .

While true it may not be as powerful as the next generation consoles ; however, free online gaming, discounts for games, free games, and all the bells and whistles of online gaming communication without paying a subscription. Well that would put the Nvidia shield as a cheaper pro consumer video game console. Being a powerful system doesn't guarantee success. At the moment it's advantage is the ability to play games both at home and on the go without needing to buy a secondary mobile device.

For me , I am a hardcore gamer for 24 years , for me the graphics is Very important aspect .

Why buying " shield " now ? In mid of next year 2014 the mobile phones will be able to Handel powerful graphics smilier to PS3 and Xbox 360 and that's confirmed .

It works on internet connections lol , its basically a streaming console from your PC games and offline are only the Iphone games.

Ok raises hand. You are wrong sir because the online streaming is a optional feature to use. It's so you can have improved graphics by using your pc hardware and basically displaying on your shield screen.

Otherwise your free to download any game from the android or nividia market and play offline.

$350 is too high for a handheld.

But as a comparison the ps vita is $250 for weaker hardware and cannot stream (but obviously a much better game lineup).
