We have this thing called the CRTC which is our television police and they deal on all licensing rights... basically a certain channel is allowed a monopoly on any show for a certain time. Just wait until word spreads further about the manufacturing troubles Microsoft is having with the xbox one; trying to rush it to compete with the Playstation deadline. Overheating issues when your electronic device has a fan that large; is definitely a horrible sign.

They also are having issues with low eSRAM manufacturing yields.

Rumours are quickly spreading that the GPU will have to be downgraded. Making the PS4 GPU not only 2x stronger as the current released specs depict; but actually 3x stronger.

That's just insane.

PS4 on average has made 60 units available to major retailers (projected estimates; to gauge how many pre-orders to take in); xbox one has only guaranteed 6. They then pump their chests claiming they are "selling out". With only 6 units; I sure hope they would be. The elephant in the room is that PS4 is selling out faster; with 10x the units anticipated at launch.

I have a feeling that both Nintendo and Sony are going to benefit greatly from MS complete botching of this system.

I know they're going for a different market, but unless they have a few aces up their sleeve and give this thing away, I can't imagine it's going to get a large enough install base to really push quality 3rd party content on it.

This leaves the door open for Nintendo and Sony to really stomp all over MS. Nintendo may struggle a bit more because of the PS4's low price. But it seems the target audience of MS isn't going to bite into a $500 console.

MS may have some deals set up with cable providers though, it's the only way I can see the price of the X1 making sense...it must be subsidized. That's one reason cell phones cost so much, just because almost everyone gets them on contract, not because the hardware is particularly expensive to make. This method is the only way I can see their system getting a significant install base in the short term.

I have already posted the question to a couple of friends of mine who own 360s, but it would be interesting to know if 360s have followed the same norms for the past few years. They do have "US" accounts so...

SONY also does some IP blocking, however the only thing I can tell you for sure they block is their movie store. I can't buy or access that with my fake "US" account. However I CAN access the games section and, provided I can get the funds via pre-paid cards, can even BUY games from PSN.

Movies and shows are region locked due to licensing restrictions I believe. I also have a fake UK account but since we don't normally get netflix and lovefilm I can't access those even with my fake account. Games work like a charm though and thats all that matters.

Yes, there's always been console rollouts....but in the past, some people (myself included when the PS2 came out in the USand Japan before it came to the UK) could IMPORT it if you wished and still be able to play on it.

Since this console is tied to an active LIVE account, if it is not activated in your country you can forget about even playing even single player games if you have it imported.

Name me one console in history that has had that limitation?

New console, new roll out. Countries that "had" been supported will be supported as manufacturing ramps up. This has always been the case.

Importing is always risky and you pay a premium over MSRP anyway you look at it and warranty becomes a nightmare. Waiting sucks, but the launch window is always different for each territory. The PS3 was extremely late to Europe and that is a core territory. The advanced DRM and always connected part of XboxOne make importing a moot point, but a delay isn't the same as no support. None of the manufacturers are fans of imports since they are going to a territory where support hasn't rolled out in.

I honestly think the Xbox program started with proper intentions and it did indeed build a proper and solid base. The platform was about games and online play for a console. It did cool shit, albeit the first behind a paywall. So be it, it worked and climbed into competitiveness, and the model was working. That wasn't good enough though.

Once that dam Kinect came around everything changed.

I really do think that somewhere during this Gen, MS began to think about moving the focus toward nothing but advertising revenues. The entire Xbox program doesn't even resemble what it used to be. It is a shadow of its former self and it has become nothing more than a corporate Trojan horse.

We haven't even begun to see the tip of the iceberg with this thing, but I can tell you all 100% that being a gaming console is just a convenient front at this point for something far more sinister.
