Wrong

Second Screen Generation :D

NioRide3962d ago (Edited 3962d ago )

:/ I have more racing games in my steam selection right now.

Dirt 1/2/3
F1 2010/11/12
Flatout 1/23/UC
GRID 1/2
GTR 2
NFS Shift/Hot Pursuit
Race 07 + all expansions
Race Inejection
TDU 1/2
Xpand Rally

This doesn't include my sims outside of steam.

Not saying that there aren't alot of great racing games coming out, but I'd hardly call it the racing generation.

I really hope so this gen was all shooters and i feel open world games can do so much more. since you can have so many different type of open worlds with different environments and characters.

snipab8t3962d ago

Couldn't be happier. The current gen was dominated by first person shooters as open world games were limited by hardware. Next gen gonna be sick.

yugovega3962d ago

red dead remdemption
gta4
gta5
saints row
elders scrolls
lego games

proved it wasn't the hardware holding it back, it was developers being lazy and rehashing shooters.

snipab8t3962d ago

Yeah you are right in that respect. Rockstar Games and Bethesda were the exceptions and is why they are my favorite developers. Saints row and lego games were pretty tacky though so I don't really hold them in high regard.

Wolfbiker3962d ago

i sure hope not. i really do prefer a more focused and linear style in both gameplay and story, mostly story but open world gameplay can be a annoying sometimes too. I like how LA Noire did by giving you the option.

bjmartynhak3962d ago

I often lose the focus in open world games doing side quests or just having fun around... and then it gets boring and I don't care more about the story.

Linear doesn't mean bad at all in my opinion.

Veni Vidi Vici3962d ago

I couldn't have said it better. I lose interest in most open world games. It has to be done to near perfection to keep me interested. I'm not a fan of exploring. I'd rather be doing stuff than running around looking for stuff that in most cases do little to nothing.

I think open world is being implemented into all these different genres some way or another. Count me in!

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast13d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22913d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko13d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave13d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
