MGS5: The Phantom Pain – Are Liquid And Solid Snake In The Game?

tpg - While it has confirmed that the story of MGS5 will be a prequel that revolves around Big Boss, a few things stuck out during the latest trailer released at this year's E3 that points to Liquid and Solid Snake being in the game.

I highly doubt that kid is Liquid. Liquid hair is originally brown, like his brother. Besides, Liquid was living most of his youth in the U.K until his later captivity in Iraq. His blonde hair was probably a means to easily disguise himself as Miller in order to fool Solid.

The kid that Big Boss is choking looks to be Chico. Possibly, another betrayal towards the MSF.

Kyosuke_Sanada3965d ago

I heard news of this betrayal in the the very first trailer of Ground Zeroes so you do bring up some great points.

MWH3965d ago (Edited 3965d ago )

I thought it was Frank Jaeger a.k.a Grey Fox to those who are not familiar with his real name.

*Spoiler*
I hope MGSV unfolds the Outer Heaven event and how Solid Snake confronted and presumably killed both Frank and Big Boss.

to me, this is the only thing left in the story that needs to be experienced.

Well it's getting to that point, the outer heaven uprising happens in 1995. The phantom pain takes place in 1984. I think at the end of the game big boss is going to make the transition to become a villain.

As for the kid in the trailer, I think it really is liquid:

See what I did there? Lol

"Liquid hair is originally brown, like his brother."

And it got bleached due to being exposed to sun for way too long according to the story. It's not far fetched to think that he's Liquid. Especially when the trailer itself says "a youth who curses his fate". It fits perfectly with what Liquid says in Metal Gear Solid, right before the hand to hand fight starts on top of Metal Gear Rex.

The kid Snake's "choking" is obviously Chico. Although I don't think he's killing him but rather trying to knock him out so that he can get him out of there. The reason for that could be because he's not in the right state of mind and can do something to compromise the mission (as seen in the Ground Zeroes trailer with him unplugging a headphone out of a hole in his chest). He's also seen later when they're trying to extract a "package" from Paz's guts, trying to restrain her/slow down the blood flow by applying pressure.

fanta_claus3964d ago

Wouldn't Chico be too old to be that kid in 1984? If Snake was born in 1972, this would put him, and Liquid, at about 12 years old; which is about how old the kid is. Chico was born in 1962, so unless he still looks like a 12 year old boy at age 22, it can't be him.

George Sears3964d ago

No, because Ground Zeroes doesn't start in 1984. The Phantom Pain does.

good call. Forgot about that.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan169d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara169d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721169d ago (Edited 169d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus169d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow169d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga185d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19185d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19185d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq185d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger185d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder185d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils185d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder185d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85185d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420185d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim185d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo184d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
