Retro: It was hard to choose between Metroid and Donkey Kong

Retro's new Wii U game is Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze but the company's Michael Kelbaugh has said that deciding whether to make a Metroid game or a Donkey Kong game was a tricky decision.

They should have chose Metroid, the DKC Returns wasnt that long ago and I have been wanting a new Metroid Prime badly

You know that means that after DK they could possibly go back to Metroid though, right? Works for me. This DK game is practically guaranteed to be awesome.

This DK game releases in October,so i wouldn't be surprised if next E3 they had at least a Metroid teaser ready.

Though it would be nice to see a (good) new Metroid game, I've always preferred Donkey Kong over Metroid.

I like them both the same. Both AAA franchises. DK sounds almost done, they are probably getting started on Metroid as we speak.

I was pretty disappointed and underwhelmed at first, but after watching some of the videos i'm pretty excited about this game now, especially since it is launching before the end of the year.

Honestly, I'm glad there's a new DK game, but I'm worried about Nintendo losing track of Metroid like Starfox and F-Zero. There hasn't been a new Metroid game for almost 3 years. :(

I know this isn't the great big title they hired extra staff for, but I am happy we get more DK in our life. Seeing that Dixie Kong gameplay brought me back, and I hope she makes it to the new Smash Bros.

They probably have more than one game in development. i hope by the end of this week we hear something about a new IP or star fox, since metroid is out of the question.

I Am disappointed.

But that is because Metroid is my Game.

I read an article recently that Nintendo rules the Platformers but I wish it was not as much as I am seeing currently.
Metroid wold have brought more balance.

(But don't get me wrong, I felt the same way looking at the sea of Futurist FPS's on XB1 and PS4... "this genre again.")

That said Retro is acting a bit like Rare.
Able to make Platformers that compete with Nintendo and also able to make action games that Nintendo doesn't make.
This is a good thing.

I am glad that Retro was able to make something they enjoyed making.

Anyway-
Like Ihave said MANY TIMES before,
I feel that they are working on more than one game at a time. Nintendo said in 2012 that they were going to try to make more titles in the U.S. because of cost.

I'd rather they work on Metroid when they are ready anyway. Makes for a much better game.

For Consoles:
APrime-type

*But I don't want Other M to be done by the same developer every time.
It would be fun if a different but notable developer made every game. Samus has a lot of big named developers in her fan-club.

Well, remember a few days ago when I said Retro's new game would probably be a new Donkey Kong due to how well the first one sold. Looks like I called that one, sadly...

It looks like a great game but I really wanted Retro to do something new. Yes that means I didn't want them to do a new Metroid either. I wouldn't want Retro to be stuck with either brand.

That being said however, it'll be a fantastic game, and David Wise coming back to do the soundtrack does sway my opinion a little bit.

Dk looks amazing but retro should've let another team take over it and Metroid while retro make new ip's. Let retro oversee the two studios while their main force makes something creative, new, and mind blowing!

Nintendo has chosen wisely.

They brought some killer games. X is possibly more amazing than the game formerly known as VS13 (software formerly known as exclusive). I lost my shit when the mecha transformed into a car and it showed that massive enemy (crab for lack of better term). Bayanetta 2 shit on every hack n slash on the market and MK8 is hands down the best racer I've seen. SSB looks amazing and SM3D World looked fun as expected. They are the usual suspects which disappoints but these games are on a level that no other games can reach. On top of that free online, no drm, no blocking used games, no online passes, no online checks, and it has a built in handheld for the toilet, bed, and miiverse is friggin awesome!
