As much as I wished Retro's new game was a Metroid one, they did a fabulous job with this game. It really does look and play incredible. It will be interesting to see how they implement the gamepad.

A little sad to not see Samus, but everything considered, it looked like one of the better games from the Nintendo camp.

I think this style of play is fading.

They should have some more innovative play in the game, sort of like how Shadow Complex had the FPS shooting gallery on occasion or zooming close ups. Just something to freshen up the genre

Shadow Complex was a Metroidvania clone so I don't see the innovations in that game. Yes it had multi-directional aiming but that's been done. Though it was still a great game.

This is not what I wanted from Retro. I wanted a new IP or a revision of an existing IP. Sure it'll play as great as Donkey Kong Country Returns but it looks just like an up-res version of it with penguins. It looks like they used the same assets from the Wii version. I was really hoping Retro would be able to flex some of their creativity muscles. I will play this cause I love DKCR but this is just another safe game from Nintendo.

I agree, but it sounds like this is what Retro wanted to work on:

Considering how much time they've had and seeing all the talent they've hired, it is possible that they have more than one title in development.

I hope that is the case because I don't see what this unfinished business with DK is.

This is made by retro??? Damn I also wanted something different. I think it's still to soon for another dk game even though they're amazing titles. Hopefully, they split the team and are working on something different.

What a disappointment and waste of talent. Nintendos 1st party studios are only making games primarily targeted at children, they are taking the easy road.

the funny thing about what you say is, that while the games appear to be childish in nature, most kids would have a hard time 100% games like Mario 64, Sunshine or Galaxy or Donkey Kong Country.

I'm glad they didn't. I heard he was asking for way too much money to reprise his role as a mascot. Which is ludicrous since everybody knows Rambi is the real star here. Enguarde is just a second stinger at best.

The audacity of this fish! SHAME!!!
