Sony E3 Press Conference Impressions

Well, the price and consumer protection are what saved the show.

I actually think the games shown were somewhat lackluster and Microsoft had a better reveal in that respect (which is ironic considering how we were questioning whether it was a games console at all).

The games shown were the best demonstrations of E3 plus their new game announcements like FF15 and KH3 were probably the best ones, it's just a shame they were all multiplatform games. Stuff like announcing exclusive betas for ESO seemed a little bit sad but they then stole the show at the very end. You usually finish on the highest note and the fact Sony chose the very end to announce everything they did, shows just how important it is for both them and the future of the industry.

Honestly, all PS4 had going for it is the price point and lack of DRM. It was multiplat after multiplat and the few exclusives got little to no gameplay time. I was disappointed. Also, PS Plus to play online? Really? I understand the value of PS Plus, but the fact is that if you want to play online, you have to pay 50 bucks.

Sony could have shown so much more but all they seemed concerned with was upstaging Microsoft of price point and DRM. I could care less about the other stuff - I wanted to see games.

I love the characters that run Sony. All of them seem down to earth and genuinely friendly people. When I saw Yoshida display all the twitter comments I knew that that they were going to announce something with regards to the DRM later in the show.

What I loved:

1. Price point
2. No DRM bullsh1t
3. FFXV and Kingdom Hearts

What I missed:

1. Where was Kaz?
2. Where are The Last Guardian and Agent?
3. There should have been more first party made PS4 new IPs
4. Where were Uncharted and God of War for PS4?

What I wish to see:

1. A bundle with a 1TB+ HDD
2. Exclusivity on KH3 and FFXV to maximize use of the 7GB of GDDR5 RAM available for games on PS4
3. More 1st party new IPs for PS4
4. More Uncharted and more God of War
5. Respawn's and Insomniac's new IP's on PS4

I agree with much of what you listed. I always like seeing Kaz, but I guess they are trying to push some of the younger blood up in front now that he is at the top of the company.

Although The Last Guardian was absent, I bet they will announce something at the Tokyo Game Show since that is a Japanese game. As for Uncharted and God of War I think that they should let them rest for a few years. Kratos can only slaughter so many things and Naughty Dog should take a stab at making another industry stopping game. Both Sony Santa Monica and Naughty Dog are amazing developers that surely have many other ideas in their heads that they are itching to work on.

Agree, their policies and the Multi-plat reveals at the end were the strong points. The start had too much chatter. They are in a better position than M$ after those conferences though.

For the first year you have to choose between the games (which MS brought) and having to choose between MS new Ip's and well Sony's long stand on used games and a better price point.

In the long run PS4 sounds better. Despite MS having a better line up of games for the first cycle.

I agree that ps+ worth it and i have two ps+ accounts right now. But i hate how it's not optional any more. I don't like paying 2 bills for the internet . I guess that's a sacrifice i will have to make. I still think it's lame. But i don't have a choice. I guess i will complain about it until ps5 xD .

So far 450$ for ps4 (Friendly to gamers ) + 1 year online ( with a collection of games for ps vita / ps3 and ps4 with discounts and features. )

PC got free online, and games on Steam are cheaper and they have huge sales all the time with real AAA games going for 50% - 75% off. Difference is you can keep those games forever, games you get for PS+ you lose access if you dont renew your account.

PS+ was only great when they gave you a choice, now they are forcing it on you.

I'm not arguing that STEAM has excellent sales, and that you can keep your games forever, and that is one of my biggest complaints with consoles. That being said I buy Playstation products because of the exclusive titles I get with them that I really, really enjoy. I can't play those titles on PC.

They aren't forcing PS+ on you, you don't have to buy it. Just like, while I hate Microsofts DRM stance, they aren't "forcing" it on me. I don't have to buy their product, and I don't have to buy PS+ either.

What we didn't see is a single mention of online passes and I think that may be because multiplayer, if it is truly required with PS+, is worked into the already excellent subscription price. PS+ is an absolute steal, and if it wasn't, I wouldn't get it.

Additionally, I don't go back and play my old games. I don't have the time or desire to. Its just not for me so PS+ is perfect.

I thought they should of shown more exclusive games. But after i thought about it - many are probably in early productions, so no need to show it. Save it for later. The ending was great with addressing the rumors. I never seen a crowd erupt like that at a E3 conference.

Are you serious? Sony did not have any Exclusive playable on stage, all they showed was videos. Second, Almost 3/4 of Sony PS4 Conference was all multiplatforms and time exclusive content (something Sony fans had criticize all this time) and Third, you talked a bout Halo and F5. I wonder what you think about Killzone and FF15 (15 been a huge number)

well the conference suck it, AC4 freeze and Destiny with lag and bugs, no demo for exclusives, one hour for just trailers but in the end they gave what people want it, a cheaper console and not drm. I wonder how microsoft will responde to that.

Quite Ironic, I think MS had better games reveal and Sony won on price obviously $100 cheaper..The DRM thing I'm sure will be sorted out and will be a non issue.

I realize for that extra $100 with MS your are getting the Kinect bundled. Will it's features/voice activation/games...etc be worth the extra? We will see.

Sony might have had more of a buzz at the end because of these 3 important announcements relating to price/drm/used games but the somewhat lacking exclusives and the "pay to play" multiplayer soften that a little bit. This has been Sony's BIGGEST strengths to many this past Generation when comparing it to the Xbox360.(whatever justifications is used on why it's not a bad idea to pay, well I remember using them all and saying the same, while making a strong case for XBL early on.

Both consoles looked similar to me..with the two tone design except XboxOne is a 50/50 split of the matte finish while Sony uses a 60/40 it seems and the split level look. Not all that different really. Both look sleek/simple/fine/polished and will be welcomed on any entertainment center.

Well the games were there but not that punch you were looking for from Sony.(They usually do) I'll give XboxOne better game showing,which is all they had to do, but they still didn't answer some important questions.

I wanna see more games being played...I'm done with trailers.

The DRM and price point issue seems to make a winner.

Microsoft had a stronger showing and Sony basically gave it more by touting several other multiplatforms coming to Xbox One.

I don't see it as a great conference...price or DRM nevers been a problem with me...I've gamed on PC without pirating..so yeah..been there. I don't even think it's 100% free on PS4 because it's the publishers choice.

From a gaming standpoint MS brought more goods and Sony made it even better.

Ok let me explain: I have Internet yes but I have Connection issues very often where I live and my Internet is slow as hell. Last week I didn't have Internet for 3 days. While this doesn't happen all that often It still can happen.

The other thing is I want to be able to give my games to a friend or the other way around if I want to. I want to actually own the games I bought and be able to play them in 20 years even if the servers are turned off.
