I think SSM will announce their plans for the franchise, but I don't think it will be ASBR2, more like an expansion pack.

That said, I am just hoping to hear something, fun game.

US8F3963d ago

I really want what you said to happen. I don't want them milking anything in all honesty, especially since it was released not to long ago. 2-3 years apart installements keeps it fresh and exciting.

A new AAA game is what I'm hoping SSM announces.

AliTheSnake13963d ago

So that's what santa Monica's vine tease was about
http://n4g.com/news/1273702...

they look they were button mashing. So either that or a co-op god of war where each player was holding one side of the body to rip them apart.

-Mika-3963d ago

As long as it has new developers. Im fine with it.

chrispseuphoria3963d ago (Edited 3963d ago )

Sony Santa Monica originally came up with the idea at first with Title Fight. It also says on the image that SSM is working on it by themselves.

-Mika-3963d ago

I know. I hope SSM works exclusively on it. I don't want superbot to interfere with development. They did an horrible job at making battle royale seem like a "AAA" $60 title.

soniqstylz3962d ago

@Mika: Superbot is working on a new IP.

r213963d ago

Mika just asking but how does it feel to comment more than once now? Now trolling just asking haha.

TXIDarkAvenger3963d ago

I was actually wondering why everyone has at least 5 bubbles now?

To actually promote discussion?

That-Guy3963d ago

Yeah, the bubbles are probably temporary.

pr0t0typeknuckles3963d ago

if they have crash, then id be happy with it.

Flyingdog6703963d ago

Yea, it's still to early for another game.

ssj273963d ago (Edited 3963d ago )

it's useless genre, a waste of time and cash..

they rather do this IP, than a true SOCOM or J&D.. is beyond me.

bsquwhere3963d ago

Well Jax and Daxter is Naughty Dog and SOCOM is obviously up in the air after 4

Godmars2903963d ago

Maybe on the scale and system its been offed on. As a $60 game.

Know the team who did it put a lot of work into it - then were shut down, wtf - but really, the game should be another Fat Princess. A PSN title with some higher the average production value.

ssj273963d ago (Edited 3963d ago )

I agree with godmars290

I see that this IP have some loyal fans .. it does not mean anything .. the game was not needed and that money could have been invest into a better IP or a loved IP like SOCOM or whatever..

or like godmars290 said.. a $15 or $20 psn game will have been better than a full retail price..

I never said it was a bad game or anything so don't hate on me.. it's just a fat and numbers proved it even sony did prove it after losing down the studio.

The Perfect Roster for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2

Jacob St-Amour from Link-Cable Writes: "PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale wasn’t the smash hit that Sony had thought it would have been, but was still able to find its footing with many dedicated fans still hoping for a new title to eventually come out. If a new entry in the series is to ever make its way on either the PS4 or on the upcoming PS5, there would certainly need an overhaul with its roster of combatants. With 16 returning characters, eight new first-party fighters as well as six third-party newcomers, we’ve completed an exciting new roster for a potential sequel to PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale."

Is it me or is PSAS gaining buzz lately? I'd like to see a sequel to this and another Mod Nation Racers

ThatArtGuy1643d ago

Modnation was a good game that was just killed by loading times. That would be a non-issue now.

AK911643d ago

Please use the percentage counter for finishing off opponents this time around.

Platformgamer1643d ago

no, i find it boring and childish, the killing mechanic was perfect

goldwyncq1643d ago

They would be better off making a deal with Nintendo to have their characters on Smash Ultimate because let's face it: there's no way they could possibly surpass it and accusations of Sony ripping it off would just come out again like last time.

Platformgamer1643d ago

and PSAS wasn't even a ripoff, it had just the same fighting genre of smash bros, the rest was different.

PlayStation All-Stars 2 Could Be a Big Success With the Right Approach

While the first game didn't land as gracefully as planned, a lot of people out there liked what PlayStation All-Stars was trying to do. So let's make a case for a PlayStation All-Stars 2.

I have a cool idea for a crossover fighter, I wonder if I create it in Dreams, would Sony take notice.

MasterChief36241714d ago

I hope it gets a second chance in some form, but I worry that in the shadow of Smash Bros, it won't be able to find its own voice. A lot of people will still call it a Smash Bros. clone, regardless of what happens. I wish more people gave it a chance, though. It's a lot of fun!

Teflon021714d ago

I want modnation 2 and ps all star 2

AK911714d ago

Just make knocking off lives the same as Smash and not via using a super which is what kill the first game.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Kills Any Hope For PlayStation All-Stars 2 (...Or Does It?)

Sequels seem almost inevitable in gaming, so why hasn't Sony done PS All-Stars 2? Because Nintendo took all the good characters.

They all still can appear in all star 2

NovusTerminus1716d ago

I think there is room for both, I would certainly buy a new ASBR and I already have SSB Ult.

PhoenixUp1716d ago

Looking at the amount of intense star power Super Smash Bros has garnered over the years from guest characters has me even more furious that a relative nobody like Isaac Clarke made it onto PSASBR’s roster.

His amount of relevancy may have been on par with Bayonetta’s since their 7th gen games come out close together one year apart, but at least she’s flanked by more impressive guest characters. Isaac on other hand isn’t so lucky since plenty of third party PlayStation icons didn’t make it in, which just makes his inclusion that much more frustrating.

No Cloud Strife, Solid Snake, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Kazuma Kiryu, Lara Croft, Ryu, Alucard, or Yu Narukami. Many of Sony’s own first party notable characters didn’t even make it in. But Isaac Fkn Clarke sure did.

-Foxtrot1715d ago (Edited 1715d ago )

The problem with the characters is that it felt like they were promoting newer games

dmc Dante not the original

Big Daddy, Infinite was coming out. Still, it was Bioshock related

Heihachi Mishima - Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Isaac- Dead Space 3

Zeus - God of War: Ascension

Raiden - Metal Gear Rising

Most of these games came around the same time as All Stars or were coming a few months after, early the following year

Edit

Well shit on my doorstep and strangle me silly...Immagaiden below has already said the same thing. How did I miss that.

Gameseeker_Frampt1715d ago (Edited 1715d ago )

Isaac Clarke was more relevant than most of the characters you listed. It also doesn't make sense to criticize PSABR for not having all the third party characters you prefer when it wasn't until Super Smash Bros. Brawl that third party characters appeared in that series. You are basically saying that Nintendo's 4th game in the series does a better job with third party characters than Sony's first game in the series. Not exactly a fair comparison.

I'm curious about these "many of Sony’s own first party notable characters didn’t even make it in" that you speak of. How about listing them?

Immagaiden1716d ago (Edited 1716d ago )

The main issue I had with most of the guest characters in PSASBR is it felt they were only included to promote an upcoming 2013 game rather than just having them there to actually celebrate the history of the PlayStation brand.

- Donte for DmC: Devil May Cry
- Raiden for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
- Big Daddy for Bioshock: Infinite
- Isaac Clarke for Dead Space 3

Heihachi is at least a legitimate PS icon so I’d forgive him being there to promote Tekken Tag Tournament 2. But I can’t forgive most of the other guest inclusions. I’d prefer Solid Snake over Raiden and classic Dante over reboot Dante, Big Daddy is from a series that debuted on Xbox 360 & Isaac Clarke is such a bland incarnation there’s no point discussing how wrong it is he made it in over the likes of Cloud, Crash, Spyro or even Lara.

Super Smash Bros on the other hand would include characters such as Mega Man, Simon & Richter Belmont, & Banjo and Kazooie just because of their iconic statuses even if they came from at the time dormant series. PSASBR instead eschewed brand associative characters and focused on promotion characters that would seem outdated years after their respective games came out and you’re wondering why they’re even on the roster over more iconic PlayStation characters.

If Sony did take another approach at this I’d hope they’d make an extensive roster that felt timeless & gratifying.

Lexreborn21715d ago

I’m sure if people would’ve spent more time appreciating the unique roster then bashing it there would’ve been MORE DLC characters and support for the game.

I fully enjoyed the DLC characters like Isaac for his uniqueness and the fact Dead Space was one of my favorite franchises from 7th gen. And, now he is immortalized proper while EA screws the Dead Space franchise.

Raider over Snake felt more at home as a brawler type and it wasn’t a copy past of a template from a different game. Be honest, if Snake would’ve made it in PASBR smash fans would’ve CONTINUED to rip ASBR apart as being a clone down to roster.

There was also alleged plans for Dart before the game ceased its development. So it was legit a game the fans would’ve made but even PlayStation fans weren’t giving the game a chance without letting smash ruin it for them.

It would’ve been awesome to have characters of legacy feels in Smash, and more recent characters in ASBR.

You could see something like Skyrim protagonist vs Kratos. Kat vs chick from Control. Ni no kuni character vs maybe even Goku since he hasn’t hit Smash.

There could be so much fun in the celebration of GAMES in general if people weren’t so bent on nostalgia.

-Foxtrot1715d ago

As long as they stop that crappy system where you can only kill someone using a super

People are going to compare it to Smash Bros REGARDLESS of what you do. So embrace it and let us knock people off the stage by damaging their health loads

You know what it was like seeing the same super animation over and over. Sigh

PurpHerbison1715d ago

Yeah, if you are going to copy Smash Bros then just go all the way. I hated that super thing.

-Foxtrot1715d ago (Edited 1715d ago )

I appreciate that they tried to do something different but it was always going to be compared regardless.

If you are going to do it then go the full mile, no half measures

Hell create a comedy based story/cutscenes were they basically all take the p***, breaking the fourth wall on how much like Smash Bros it is and how they are trying "again" after the "last game". Head the criticism dead on
