shattered memories should be 3rd. so much better then people give it credit for. silent hill 4 should be the bottom in my opinion.

Glad to see Downpour at least toward the upper-mid range. Really an underrated game of this gen. It had technical issues at launch, but the patch fixed them for the most part. There were some good scary moments in the game.

I personally think that Silent Hill 2 and 3 are evenly matched. I think they are both brilliant psychological horror games with an extreme amount of depth to them. I feel that they are as frightening as any of the most elite horror films of the 20th and so far 21st century. They require intelligence to delve adequately into there story's and grasp the deeper meanings behind everything. Pure genius I say.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 will always be my favorite.

Really a shame another great Survival Horror franchise gets lost...

Silent Hill IV gets way too much crap in my opinion. Yeah it started as a different game and what not but

- The original scenario and well thought out story (from just a newsclip in Silent Hill II no less).
- Great lead characters and awesome antagonist whose personalities are perfectly conveyed through the environment and music itself.
- Revamped "ring" melee system offered more control in combat.
- Awesome enemy designs.
- New "invasion" concept.
- Limited Inventory

To me the only real glaring flaws for the game were:

- Unneeded Lock-on,
- Lack of end-game content compared to it's previous installments.
- Needed more enemy types.

This game got the Resident Evil Outbreak treatment where alot of people hated on the game without actually checking under the hood and giving it a fair critique. Am I saying it's the best Silent Hill, no but VERY far from the worst. Am I saying that new Silent Hill should have the same infrastructure, again I say no because each installment supposed to be an individual's nightmare tailored specifically for the protagonist's inner demons (however I would love to see the "Ring System" for combat be improved in a later installment.)

In closing, it pretty much has the DNA of every canon entry of the series but had the flaw of just being smothered under Silent Hill II's shadow which makes me truly wish that it was released before it.
