Yoshinori Ono Remains Mum On Deep Down For XBox One

First unveiled for the PS4 during the console's formal announcement, Capcom is still quiet on whether or not its working title "Deep Down" will appear on Microsoft's Xbox One.

dedicatedtogamers3987d ago

I know it's just a rumor of a rumor on twitter, but I want people to keep something in mind: Xbox One is even more NA-centric than the 360, and the 360 sold like crap in Japan. In addition, Japanese companies may (or may not) want to jump on the used-game fee bandwagon for one reason or another.

It is entirely possible that the Xbox One will be mostly devoid of Japanese games this next gen.

Just a thought.

NegativeCreepWA3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

NA is the largest market in the world now, not Japan. They will go where they can make money.

SexyGamerDude3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

Just selling in America is not enough.

They don't care about the NFL anywhere but the US. I doubt this will sell anywhere else.

LOGICWINS3987d ago

^You work for MS? How do you know what's "enough" for them?

NegativeCreepWA3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

I never said it was, but the largest market will have the biggest affect of where devs go and what audience they will cater.

SexyGamerDude3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

LOGICWINS, I know it's not enough for them because MS has stated that they want to and will try to sell this thing in Japan. They wouldn't do that if they thought all they need was the American audience to make money.

NegativeCreepWA, America may be the biggest market but if Sony sells more in other countries and are above MS in worldwide sales, the devs will go to Sony. It's about who reaches more people, not who reaches more Americans.

Skips3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

"It's about who reaches more people, not who reaches more Americans."

...True

NegativeCreepWA3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

Do you really think it'll fail in Europe? Europeans will be the ones able to get the most out of the cloud services, considering they have the best access to high speed internet.

The world may not care about the NFL, but Europe sure does care about football.

Blackcanary3987d ago

@ NegativeCreepWA i live in the UK and we have a Sky Box that we pay monthly for to watch are tv shows and sports i.e football on. Not a lot of people are gonna buy a XBone to watch TV on and pay another monthly fee when we already have a SKY Box for that.

SexyGamerDude3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

But this is Capcom you are talking about. They are one of the most greedy companies in gaming history. They love charging you for content that you already paid for (Look at their DLC practices). They aren't going to give up a chance to nickel and dime you on the One.

MaideninBlack3987d ago

Not arguing with you about the Xbox's appeal ( or lack of it ) in Japan but it's not really a rumor if the producer tweeted it.

adorie3987d ago

Money talks, unfortunately. MS has a lot of it. When I saw Deep Down, I already knew it was going to appear on Xbone. No question. This is Capcom. Not the salvation army. Lol.

OrangePowerz3987d ago

Releasing Xbone in Japan looks like a big waste of money. The previous consoles didn't do well qnd with a big focus on TV and Kinect required I can't see it sell in Japan. Many multiplatform Japanese games didn't even get released in Japan.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

PLZ D0NT HOLD BACK PS4!!!!

vega2753987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

do japan even sell used games as they do in US and EU?

Ontopic: MS needs to prove to gamers and developers that the xbox one is about games and push that hard come E3. or watch their brand and fans disappear in one gen.

i know I'm playing the wait and see before i write them off. but as of right now it's not looking good.

@below

thanks for the info. i wasn't aware they had a used game market. but both companies need to be forthcoming with this matter and stop mixing words.

dedicatedtogamers3987d ago

"do japan even sell used games as they do in US and EU?"

As far as I know, yes. In fact (afaik) the second-hand market in Japan is even bigger there than it is here.

grimmweisse3987d ago

Japan does, GEO probably being the biggest used game retailer as far as I know.

Jek_Porkins3987d ago

Even so, Microsoft put out a lot of money to get Japanese games last gen and they've already come out and said they will try the market again this gen.

Not saying that means anything for this game, but they'll definitely keep trying, and part of that is getting Japanese made games and paying for them ect..

dedicatedtogamers3987d ago

@Jek_Porkins

Their behavior with Japanese devs last gen is actually the biggest proof that they won't care about the Japanese audience this time around. They tried to buy up a ton of Japanese-centric exlusives, it didn't work, they got FF13 to go multiplat, still didn't work, and then MS simply gave up.

You cannot tell me with a straight face that Microsoft's initial efforts to secure Japanese exclusives continued just as strong throughout the 360's life.

MikeMyers3987d ago

"Their behavior with Japanese devs last gen is actually the biggest proof that they won't care about the Japanese audience this time around."

That's hilarious. They went from basically no Japanese support on the original Xbox to getting key franchises away from Sony. Such as Virtua Fighter, Tekken, and Final Fantasy. As well as getting their own exclusives.

Dark Souls 2 is also coming to the Xbox 360. Is that giving up? Man, people sure like to fear-monger on the web don't they?

MikeMyers3987d ago

Of course it's just a thought dedeicatedtogamers, you will do anything to make the Xbox One in the lowest light possible. They have already stated they have some news regarding other territories outside of the U.S.

It's the typical demeanor on the web, fear-mongering.

Minato-Namikaze3987d ago

I think some Japanese companies that supported MS early last gen might not this or at least take a wait and see approach. Namco gave sony 2 PS3 exclusives this year, SE is giving sony FFHD and KHHD. I think Sony is gonna run away with this thing outside of the US if Eastern Devs dont support the ONE.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3987d ago

I agree. Xbone might sell a lot of units but it won't be to core gamers so devs might be wary of supporting the console at first.

It's cool how you went all Kyuubi mode out of nowhere btw lol

Jek_Porkins3987d ago

You don't think core gamer's are going to buy an Xbox One? I'm pretty core centric and I'm buying one. I also play games competitively and the Xbox One having dedicated servers for all of their online games screams core to me.

grimmweisse3987d ago

Dedicated servers to play kinect games...yeah...no!

a_bro3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

this is capcom guys, of course its coming. i'll be surprised if it didnt.

Supermax3987d ago

To be honest ms could care less about anything.the only people they want to make happy is the 40 million Xbox live gold members they have, wich they make a billion dollars a year on.

theWB273987d ago

Crazy how business works huh? You go with what makes money. It's so simple it's crazy...Sony did the...aahh fck it nevermind.

GamingWorldPeace3987d ago (Edited 3987d ago )

They will release a Champion Hyper Edition on XB1 next year, no worriez gamerz.

Capcom Is 'Aware' of Dragon's Dogma 2 Frame Rate Issues on PC

Responding to a query about frame rate problems from IGN, Capcom said in a statement that performance issues on PC may be linked to the heavy amount of CPU demanded from NPCs in the game.

"In Dragon's Dogma 2, a large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and dynamically calculates the impact of their physical presence in various environments. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate," a Capcom representative told IGN. "We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future."

just_looken33d ago

What a load of bull there blaming the npc load for there poor performance? the new hitman games has way more going on beyond that they are saying any pc cpu is not powerful enough?

In the article it is also stated a ign reviewr got motion sickness playing ps5/pc version but still enjoyed it? like wow if that was me i would knock it down alot and asked for a patch asap.

So those about to play thank denuvo get a barf bucket if your on pc play 720p because like cites skyline its going to be a unoptimized cpu mess.

Man those on series s/steam deck/rog ally rip :(

just_looken33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Just putting up a pcgamer review

"its janky has bugs poor performance need lots of updates 89/100"

Man have we dropped that quality bar for acceptable performance/optimization

andy8533d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Am I hearing that right, that reviewer with a 4090 is getting drops into the 20s when there's several NPC on screen. Sorry but there's zero excuse for that. BG3 had hundreds at a time on screen and that's a pretty game. What an absolute piss poor engine

just_looken33d ago

@andy

Yes the is correct but every review is giving it a past and or saying that its great that the performance is like the first ps3/xbox one game.

2012 20-30fps 2024 20-30fps dragons dogma keeping things the same reviewers like that apparently

just_looken33d ago

IGN put up a video showing the 4090 struggling aswell as console performance all versions are like the first game with fps issues.Remember dlss 3.0 can almost double your fps like that cyber punk video so without dlss on your looking at 30fps on the most powerful gpu that is out right now.

Cacabunga33d ago

Capcom where is Deep Down???

Tapani33d ago

@andy85 At launch BG3 dropped to under 30fps at the final chapter on 4090. I played the game at launch and had that experience. And that was with a 5800X3D. Everything watercooled and fine-tuned CPU/GPU and memory at 32GB with good timings, and a fast SSD etc.

just_looken33d ago

@tapani

I am sorry are we comparing a AA game with a small budget with alot going on 24/7 to a AAA game funded buy the billion dollar capcom?

You are right yes but that was patched and that team loves there community but if the first dogma said anything we should expect a patch or 2 but that is it.

andy8532d ago

@Tapani indeed but that was hundreds of NPCs. Not a few. It's piss poor

lellkay33d ago

Can they be aware of the need for 60fps on consoles plz

just_looken33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Oh no kidding that "pro" model better have a 60fps mode.

But that ps5 pro PSSR will no doubt be a hold back as i see very few devs make a fsr/dlss/pssr game like really sony why did you spend millions to make upscale tech on the 6800 when amd already has fsr 3.0 just sitting there.

I remember the ps4 pro patches that dwindle over time yes new games had the modes but they were not standard and that was without the base ps4 using another upscale tech.

Edit:

In tldr form devs now make fsr upscale for ps5/xbox PSSR upscale tech on ps5 pro game then dlss/fsr upscale tech pc version and we also have intels xess just insane workload

Eonjay33d ago

'Oh no kidding that "pro" model better have a 60fps mode.'

Perhaps but only if Capcom addresses the issues first. substantially more powerful hardware is struggling.

Furesis33d ago

I mean it's not helping but this is something more than that. Plenty of games with denuvo that work fine

just_looken33d ago

That could be also taxing for sure sense the ps5 also supports that dreadful drm

This is also running off the RE engine remember those re vids with the denuvo drm on/off

MrDead33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Project Zomboid a simple looking isometric game has a similar problem as the Zombies are CPU heavy. If this is the issue GPU tweeks won't do anything, you need less calculations per NPC or more static NPCs

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH32d ago

Well that’s just great…looks like I’ll be holding off on buying this on PC until it’s fixed. If I wanted low frame rates I’d just buy it in console smh…

Well there is a lot of laid off talent out there. Very smart of them to target that. Plus if it’s in Japan, that’s a great place to live.

aaronaton46d ago

"Won't someone think of the shareholders!!" wwwaaaahhh

Eonjay46d ago

It funny with this news, their stock price took a small hit. But you know what... thats like too damn bad. We have to stop letting shareholders run the industry into the ground.

FinalFantasyFanatic46d ago

Seriously, you have to spend money to make money, I think some companies and share holders forget that, If you don't pay enough, you can't attract the best talent, or possibly even enough staff for the company to function properly.

Eonjay46d ago

I really approve of Capcom for doing this and will show my appreciation by supporting them. There are a few Capcom games I need to get... and this includes Dragon's Dogma 2. Support companies that support the people working in the industry over shareholders! REMEMBER: Shareholder's don't make games!

Darkegg45d ago

25% sounds like a lot, but it's from $1,560 to $2000 per month. That's $24,000 a year. Unless u became a monk, that is below poverty line.
