36th is currently Modern Warfare 3 360, which sold ~4,100 copies Worldwide across all websites/stores/etc. for the last reported week according to vgchartz.

42nd is currently Skyrim PS3, which sold ~2300 Worldwide.

If the Wii U is only selling around 4k per week (which it's not, it's selling around 30k per week), this would be disasterous news for the Wii U.

Easy, some people did plan to buy the xbone and didn't care much about the Wii u since they thought it would be a much better choice on it own or of they planned to buy it with the ps4, but after all the negative news and their abysmal failure of a conference made their choice easier.

For me, from what I saw from their conference and all the pr spinning about used games and always online, ps4 and Wii u is the best combo for the next generation. Unless they have dozens of super awesome exclusive that shakes the industry, which I highly doubt by this point.

The only developers not interested in developing for it have contracts with EA or are first party developers with Sony and Microsoft. There is nothing underpowered about it. It is head and shoulders above what last gen systems could do, both power and feature wise (talking about GPU features, it supports DX11.1 equivalents). Sony and Microsoft's systems are doing a lot more behind the scenes than Wii U. This takes cycles, as well as memory, to accomplish, there is always a performance hit with ancillary features that are always running.

The amount of RAM in the Wii U is perfect for what games need today, enough to get a solid 30/60FPS at 720 or 1080p, the framebuffers aren't getting much larger than they were last gen, and they only take up a couple of MB's anyway, hence the 32MB of EDRAM. The rest is just for texture mapping, which is not bandwidth intensive, and can also be streamed from disk with very good results.

Oh I forgot the additional physics, AI, etc engines, that the CPU needs access to, which DDR3 is more effective for, thanks to much lower latency than GDDR5, hence the choice to use a unified memory architecture based on DDR3.

Oh, that CPU, by the way, is stronger, core for core, than Jaguar. It has better IPC, shorter pipeline stages, EDRAM caches for EACH core, PowerISA2.06, a super low thermal signature, and clocks can be adjusted to above 1.24GHz if needed, underclocking was necessary, as there was no time for IBM or Nintendo to fully stress test a brand new custom design based on Power7 with PPC750 code compat on one of the cores.

Sony has not been incoherent just so you know. They've said time and again that they will not be putting restrictions on used games, unless the developers of the game choose to take that path. They wont stop developers (for example Blizzard, since they do the whole one game one account thing on PC) from doing their thing, but Sony will not be a part of it. In other words, Sony will not charge anyone, if developers do it, that is on them. MS on the other hand will be the one that charges and the money goes to them. it was a link on a forum so sorry i'm not sure where it was. Just to clarify though, they did not mention the word 'fees' in that article either, if that is what you are after. What was said though, was pretty clear. They were talking about blocked used games and the need to be connected on the xbox one, and said that no such restrictions will be implemented on the PS4. So take what you will from that, but if the PS4 is not going to require a connection to the internet (or even once a day like the xboxone) then it will not be enforcing any fees on your used games (that is the gist of what I got from the whole thing.
PS: there is actually a quote by Sony's Jack Tretton saying that he is "totally against blocking used games" if you ask me what Sony is doing is stepping out of this whole thing. They themselves will not charge anyone to play used games, but they will not deny fee because they are leaving it up to the developers if they want to take that route. Think about it, if developers decided to charge people to play certain used games, Sony doesn't want to be caught saying there will be no charges only to be blamed when developers do it to consumers. They are stepping aside. That's my two cents.

Maybe the Wii U is discrete console, with outdated technology, the same games of every year and an heavy control. But Nintendo is a good company that don't stabbed his fans, that don't followed EA's stupid policy for second hand restrictions or always online. For this reason EA canceled all WiiU games, but Nintendo had loyality to their friends and don't ceded to EA's bad pretensions; sacrificing sales, bad publicity and everyone's jokes.

Well supposedly it jumped from the 400ish position which is a definite improvement, just not the amazing leap the 875% increases sales sounds like.

Without base numbers percentages are useless to beat your chest about, the uk was nintendos worst region in sales i believe.

So the wii u is being beat by both last gen and the generation before that consoles, the ancient ps2(it won't die). Sorry nintendo guys but IF(unlikely also) the overall xbox fanbase abandons ms this gen, it won't be going to nintendo.

Sony or pc will snatch most of them up, since nintendo consoles are only useful for nintendo games. That os and online is not going to cut it for guys used to the 360, and expecting a next gen console.

Microsoft doesn't care about gamers or games in general, they just want access to your living room so they can get you to subscribe to their services. I can't believe I was sucked in with Xbox live but no more. I am done with ms for good and I've been a hardcore supporter since the first xbox. Almost everyone here thinks this is sales.. Did you not read the article or even the headline? 875% SALES RANK increase, not 875% SALES increase.

Of course that comes with better sales but still you all are missing the point, while this is good, it isn't amazing because it isn't actual sales number we are talking about. As it basically is only a increase in sales rank from a low rank to a still low rank, now if it were an actual increase in sales altogether that would be substantially impressive. Not trying to rain on your parade but read a little better will ya?

Another thing that is really utterly annoying me right now, is just because this Xbox One is turning out horrible, now all the sudden everyone changed their mind about the Wii U? People are such hypocrites, shit isn't even funny. I don't wish doom upon the device, I know it will do better in time but fact still stands Wii U really could use more (I am not going to ignore that all the sudden simply because of another failure). Great some big titles were announced for this year but it would be nice to see them also as well a concrete plan for better third party support. I do like playing games, not just exclusives ones as well.

I am just tired of Nintendo saying sorry, take it how you want it but instead I just want to hear a solution to the problem from them. Hopefully since so many developers are really disgusted with the Xbox One, it will give the Wii U more third party support. Then again I have to also really counter the fact that the Wii U is significantly slower than the PS4 and if the PS4 and Wii U is all people will focus on, I am not so sure how that will work.. I don't want to get stuck with a bunch of downgraded ports.

All I am saying this gen is so iffy, seems like the only people who have it easy with a secure spot with developers right now are Sony with the PS4.

I have not got a clue what the wiiU can do or what games it has. The only time I have heard about it is all the jokes at its expense the past few months.

So I figured it must be bad. But after the other night even I was thinking that maybe the wiiU is worth a look after all.

There sales figures will increase as a direct result of the reveal. Ain't that the weirdest thing ever?

People look to the future and think "okay, what will I buy for the next gen of gaming?". Before the other night it seemed there might be only two strong console options.

Now it appears that there is only one (not the ONE) stand out product that has complete focus on games because the other has chosen a different path. So people are asking themselves what if I want a second device to play around with.

The wiiU has all of a sudden become a viable option. If it strikes now while the iron is hot and drops its price the wiiU could make a dramatic and unexpected entrance into the next gen arena.
