8GB DDR3, 12 CU, 768 thread GPU in Xbox one. He said in this broadcast quite clearly, 768 GPU ops per cycle (meaning simultaneous threads I am sure). He also mentioned 6 ops per cycle for the CPU, in context he appears to mean the machine has 6 cores for developers of the 8.

PS4 has 50 percent more raw GPU performance, and A LOT more system wide unified memory bandwidth.

All those specs you saw rumoured about PS4 being quite a lot faster than Xbox one are true.

PS4 is by far the fastest next generation console. Its not even close.

Well DDr 5 didnt help AMD cards beat nividia's in performance last graphics card gen. Nivida is ddr 5 now but it didnt give amd that much of a advantage.

Been on the official Xbox website and I have had a huge shock these are the hardcore fans saying they are going to defect to Ps4 can't blame them though be ause there hardcore gamers after all and want a games console not a Kinect app box .
Ms have tried to take on too many competitors with this contraption and it's backfired you can't take on Apple with a console or with even W8 on a PC , a tablet for a tablet and games console to a games console not a gaming console with Apple in mind hence Kinect and can't take on Samsung either with a gaming console hence Skype what a joke .

The PS4 is not that much more powerful. DDR5 is not that big of a deal as it seems. Microsoft made the architecture so that the DDR3 can run almost as fast as a DDR5.

I prefer the 360 to the PS3, but I have both. The Xbox one, is just plain ugly as sin. That and the BS always on, not able to just swap and trade games with friends... I'm absolutely done, I will only get the PS4 now. So you can take the Sony fanboys comment and shove it, because the 360 is my preferred gaming console. But I'm smart enough to know when to jump ship.

Dont give me that crap about xbox hardware is crap sonys crap was way worse. Sony screwed up 2 generations in a row. The PS one was garbage it broke all the time. The disk drive would stop working, The Cd lenses would mess up, people had to turn their consoles upside down to make them play.

Also the Ps one disks were so cheap and flimsy they would break when you tried to pull them out of there cases. The first year ps2 were all crap they all broke and walmart stopped taking them back because they got in so many broken ones. Microsoft has to screw up alot more to catch up to sony. Oh and dont forget the PS2 disk read error scandal which they got sued for and lost.

Atleast Microsoft paid up to fix my xbox sony charged me 100 bucks each time i had to fix my console. And that doesnt even count the ones i had to return to walmart by buying a new console switching out the systems and returning it for my money back since walmart refused to take back anymore broken PS2's

After the conference I am still undecided, there is nothing that interest me one okay or anther to buy any next gen system.

Right now if I have to buy one its ps4 but even that was very under whelmening in my opinion.

I think after E3 we will have a much more clear vision on what the systems will offer games wise. Sony did a good job showing ps4, ms did a ok job showing Xbox one which is a bad name IMO.

Both could have done a much better job, but I also understand that these were just events to announce syste,s so most of the gaming stuff will be at E3

I prefer this design. It can be stacked with all my other gear, provided it does not run too hot.

I hope Sony goes the same route as that is my preferred system at this time. I think most of the benefit of the Xone will be realized in the USA. As i'm not in the USA the PS3 looks to cater to my needs more (at this time).

The Xbox1 is all about the Cloud, I didn't get it at first, but im beginning to understand now.

Why do you think they need a attachment for voice commands? That is done by software not hardware, all you need is a mic and guess what the DS4 has a mic.

Voice command could be done by the ps3, vita, 3ds, ect, but it's not practical, its just like kinnect once the novelty wares off you end up using a controller.

Well sony does have this thing called the ps eye, it also has a mic built in it. My kids use the ps eye when gaming online instead of a headset.

If I am not mistaken, the ps4 will have the new ps eye cam/mic bundled with it. Sony has all the means necessary to use voice commands if they choose too.

If any hardware that creates heat (Any CPU and Graphics chip creates heat no matter how little power it uses) is put into an enclosed enviournment for a period of time or if you block its cooling vents it will overheat. Xbox just became a status thing, and not a gaming console. To be honest, I wouldn't have thought casuals even cared about the new Xbox reveal, let alone E3. So catering to 'Mr Casual' in this event is kinda pointless. At least right now. Word of mouth will spread about how great the XB1 is at t.v./movies/helping you pee/ whatever other crap it does, but all this event did is shy gamers away from this system. They should have known that probably about 80 to 90 percent of the viewers would be gamers foremost, because as the Xbox to date is a 'gaming' brand, people only casually interested are more likely to spend that hour doing something more productive. Now obviously I could be wrong, but I'm willing to bet that most casuals don't even know what the new Xbox can do yet.

I am (was) a Xbox "fanboy", but so far the system looks like a commercial in a box. Gamers are now being grouped with the TV viewers. IMO, Microsoft sees the gamers as a demographic and wants to get more people into that category to sell sell sell.

I just tuned into this a few minutes ago, and they are talking about how developers will continue to support their product over the cloud as they see how people are playing it, and make changes as needed.

The question that isn't being asked is, "what gives you the idea that a dev/pub will continue to support a game after it's released?"

There is not much monetary reason to do so. That's why devs/pubs focus more on DLC.

Ok , So I thought seen as everybody else is putting their opinion across I'd take a moment to put Mine and why I'm actually really surprised , pleased and impressed by Microsoft's new Xbox.
First off Let Me just say - I'm no Xbox fanboy , in fact I've avoided Xbox and Microsoft products for years (I have an apple Mac , Iphone Apple TV etc - You can see where I'm going with this.. )
But I have to say I really think Microsoft has scored a massive home run with this console and has judged the market perfectly ..and heres why
Ok , the reveal was a little underwhelming to me at least - I'm not interested in a Halo TV show directed by Steven Spielberg , nor do I care about ESPN integration and fantasy sports teams on My TV (Hell , that service probably won't even be available where I live for ages )- but some people will care about this and this will be a big thing for those people and Microsoft will corner that area of the market with this feature with the people to whom it does matter and thats what they're looking to do.
I'm a gamer , I love games always have always will ever since I got given a second hand 48k Sinclair Spectrum when I was a kid and spent hours playing horrace and the spiders in my room - I play games and not consoles.
I know that on paper at least the PS4 is the slightly more powerful gaming machine of the two and will almost certainly end up with a couple of multi-platform releases that look better than the Xbox versions or have a slightly higher framerate , I know enough about hardware and the makeup of these machines to say theres really not gonna be that much in it longterm - architecturally they're incredibly similar inside sure - PS4's GDDR5 IS faster and with more bandwidth than the DDR3 memory found in the Xbox but is also comes with higher latencies too that will probably be offset by the Xbox's use of esram. I also know that the PS4 GPU is slightly better specced than the GPU in Microsoft's latest console but the difference is certainly not night and day or 50% more powerful as some people are claiming , it just doesn't work that way believe me I know - I do this for a job.

Trust me when I say this - Games will be comparable across both platforms and the only thing gamers should base their system choice on is the games (Read platform Exclusives) they want to play and also the following point I'm about to make..
The PS4 is more powerful yes , but its the behind the scenes information and things You wont see regarding the Xbox that I think is the most exciting.
Things such as Microsoft's Dedicated Xbox live servers , delivering a more stable online gaming experience , cloud based computing that can take processor load away from your xbox freeing up more resources to run the experience happening on your TV screen.

As gamers we like to moan , "Why do games consoles always look so garish and ugly " Ive heard countless times on this and other forums , Microsoft deliver a classy elegant looking machine that will fit under any TV without standing out and blend in nicely with other Av equipment and we moan its boring - I'll say it again I play games and not consoles.
Another fan favourite is "All the next generation will deliver is better graphics and more cod - I want innovation in my gaming new ways to play " really ?? do we ?? Microsoft have delivered a state of the art feature set in the new Kinnect that I am sure will be implemented in games in amazing and unique ways and people are still moaning only now it's I dont want these gimmicks I want the most powerful machine with more teraflops to deliver better looking games, surely thats just being hypocritical ..?!
its these embedded features and excellent software - (and hardwares nothing without quality software right ) that say to me the xbox will be a more balanced machine with a better supporting infrastructure this coupled with the power of DX11.1 behind it (the worlds most common and proven graphics API ), delivering next gen games that are as good as or not far off what the PS4 will offer but also offering a hell of a lot more , more potential , more innovation and I believe more longevity in this generations life span
And thats reason that Microsoft's new offering will be sitting under my TV this christmas.

i for one am looking forward to what both consoles have to offer next gen. there was nothing in either ms or sonys conference that turned me off buying their systems.

I want my console to entertain me and allow me to connect and share that entertainment with my friends. I wanted both MS and Sony to build upon their last console and online services and both have.

One could argue that their focuses may be different but I am confident from what I've seen that both consoles will entertain me as much and more than the 360 and ps3.

I know how N4G works and I know being a close minded and disrespectful gamer is what fuels this place. It's why most articles posted here are not meant to inform but to inflame. As a gamer for 25+ years I am excited for next gen, I am excited to see MS and Sony push each other to be better.

It seems to be lost on many of you that there has never been a better time to be a console gamer. Your too busy talking sh*t to each other. Its a shame that this site instigates the worst in us all in order garner hits for advertising pennies.

First saw it on one of the morning programs here in Oz and they were discussing that it's more of an entertainment hub.

The PR person was saying that once you plug and open up the console the XBox menu isn't shown first but the entertainment side of things comes on.

Agreed, it's obvious that Microsoft wanted an all-in-one home entertainment system and got exactly that. But at the expense of the gaming side of things.

Xbox has been turned into a media hub. Games are still important, but more like 20% important instead of 90%.

Overall it just seems unappealing. The console design, the TV service, the whole "chat on skype while watching movies" thing. Even the actual game footage looked only somewhat better than what PS3 and 360 put out. We'll see how the PS4 and XBO games compare at E3, but it's worrisome how little XBO game footage was shown compared to Sony's conference 3 months ago.

The reveal was boring, but damn they still have all of E3 to add fuel to the fire. Judging off one reveal and saying ps4 is all in for me is not giving the damn xbox a chance. Truthfully as a gaming community I think people still dont know what they want out of a console or type of game they would like play. Decisions to buy a console shouldn't be based off RAW POWER but innovation of what the console could dont for you and the world around you and of course GAMES. I will be picking up both at launch. So much promise, but I am inherently someone who wants to own a gadget that packs the most power of the time we are in like the latest smartphone or my gaming PC.

So having read the Eurogamer article that has a good discussion regarding the specs of each console and using some clever extrapolation, it appears the PS4 will be packing the nicer visuals and that unfortunately is a killer for me.

I was mostly going to get back into console gaming for some of the exclusives more than anything even though I have a very capable gaming PC.

Obviously I'll wait on more concrete information regarding the specs of both, but I really just want to play some next gen games. I couldn't care less about TV or skype. I have a laptop and to be fair, I really only want to watch TV. I don't want fancy screens flying around ruining my show.

Don't know how this thing is going to do outside of the US though. Most TVs here in the UK generally have built in freeview so we have all our guides and programmes and if we require something more premium, we have Sky.
