PixlBit | "More stunning confessions from me to you! I didn’t get into the Metroid series until Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion, and didn’t even play Super Metroid until maybe two years after I played Metroid Prime. While the first Prime title took many design inspirations from Super Metroid, I didn’t enjoy Super Metroid at first, mostly because I played it through less than reputable means. Once I got to play it on the Wii Virtual Console, I finally understood why this game is considered an SNES classic. Super Metroid sports great game design, with a wonderful atmosphere unparalleled on any 16-bit system. At only 30 cents on the Wii U eShop until June 16, there’s little reason to not give this excellent title a shot."
"30 years after its launch, however, Super Metroid for the SNES remains the undisputed king of the franchise in terms of its atmosphere and tone. " - Ollie Reynolds | NintendoLife
Fusion did a great job at it. Really love that horror feel with metroid. I mean you are completely alone on alien planets filled with horrific monsters and toxic environments.
The 2024 Game Anniversaries include some major titles including Half-Life 2, Uncharted 2, and Minecraft.
Even if you haven’t played Nintendo’s 1994 masterpiece Super Metroid, chances are you’ve at least played something inspired by it.
B-but... Metroid can't crawl... ;_;
reviewer got it wrong...Super Metroid is DEFINiTELY a 5/5!!
perfect game for its time
a little late to the party... almost 20 years too late, actually.
um, the fact that its one of the best games on what is regularly considered as the greatest ever console, and is 30p, AND you can map the annoying weapon change select button to the zl trigger, makes your half star deduction ridiculous. opinions are subjective and your entitled to yours, but your reasoning is faulty- you can re-map the buttons.
