Visceral Games PS4/Xbox 720 Shooter Outed, Medal of Honor on PS Vita from Slant Six Was a Thing

It seems that absolutely nothing can escape the internet eye of Superannuation, who is back yet again with a pair of interesting pieces of information, with the first focusing solely on Visceral Games, who have been busy lately with the Dead Space franchise and Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel. - PSLS

Medal of Honor. Slant Six. Dear Lord.

Minato-Namikaze3991d ago

Can somebody find me a good game that slant six made? I cant remember one.

3991d ago
violents3991d ago

I know, why do they keep letting slant6 ruin popular franchises. To be fair, the socoms for psp were pretty good but their console games have been awful.

doctorstrange3991d ago

This time Danger Close killed MoH before SS could, haha.

violents3991d ago

@doctorstrange

I guess its alright to let them beat a dead horse right. Lol!

a_bro3991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

its like they want the vita to fail with all of these terrible devs....

then they're the ones complaining as to why people are not buying the games....

Out of all the developers that have went down over the years...how the hell is Slant Six still around

TrendyGamers3991d ago

Resident Evil: ORC still sold pretty well, despite the negative reviews.

TrendyGamers3991d ago

It probably would have been overshadowed by Killzone Mercenary if it were to launch this year.

dbjj120883991d ago

Yeesh. That Slant Six game could have been a disaster.

alexcosborn3991d ago

Yay. More shooters.... and PS Vita disasters.

Remembering Medal Of Honor: The Forgotten Master Of WW2 Games

Ibrahim from eXputer: "The Medal of Honor franchise was once the crown jewel of FPS war games, later defeated by the tides of time and poor development."

banger882d ago

They tried to turn it into Call of Duty and it killed it off. They should reboot it and go back to it's roots. But they'd ruin it with online-only/multiplayer style bullshit so why bother? I have very fond memories of these games, but this series can stay dead as far as I'm concerned.

FPS_D3TH1d 3h ago

Was literally just thinking of this game the other week with the secret nut cracker mission and the shooting Bismarck dog lmao. Loved these games as a kid

PrecursorOrb1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

I wish they’d remake warfighter

Strictly for the campaign

The_Hooligan1d 1h ago

I have fond memories of playing the Medal of Honor Breakthrough MP Demo. It had two maps and custom servers. Living on campus, I had it downloaded on one of the PC Lab servers so I could access it on any computer at the university. Joined a clan and made friends that I still keep in touch with today.

Gotta wonder why Starcraft: Ghost literally became a ghost.

Wish they did more then 5. There's a ton more out there.

TheSenorCheese414d ago

It's obviously something that can be revisited. But, yup, agree.

darthv72413d ago

Im surprised 1313 has not been revisited after the success of Fallen Order.

shinoff2183413d ago

Hope I will cause it sounded amazing.

Knightofelemia413d ago

I was always curious about Scalebound until it was scrapped.

TheSenorCheese413d ago

One of the titles we missed covering. But our guess? Uneasiness between Platinum and Microsoft.

Godmars290413d ago

You mean MS wanting a MP component for an obvious SP game.

porkChop413d ago (Edited 413d ago )

Platinum said they actually deserve a lot of the blame. Realistically both parties made mistakes. Platinum bit off more than they could chew at the time, and MS didn't quite understand how to just sit back and let the devs work their magic.

Hopefully the two can come together and try again because the game sounded really good.

jznrpg413d ago (Edited 413d ago )

If it was a single player game I think it would have had a better chance of coming out . Ms wanted it to be online co-op . Dragon games aren’t easy to make and making it co-op is even harder and to me that was the major factor of why it failed

gangsta_red413d ago (Edited 413d ago )

Not sure where people are getting their info that MS 'wanted' it to be co-op. From it's first teaser it was shown to have some type of co-op feature. It was probably pitched to MS as a multiplayer co-op game and Kamiya has gone on record saying he bit off a bit more than he could chew. You can definitely see elements on what they wanted to do with Scalebound in Bayonetta 3.

Godmars290412d ago

@gangsta_red:
Largely because the game existed before MS wanted it. Another is that more if not all Xbox titles have been online coop. Lastly, in in-game continuity, it made no sense to have customized versions of the same character popping up for boss fights. At least, as a hyped feature of the game, I've never heard explanation for it.

Regardless of what a dev, who wants to do business with MS so likely isn't going to badmouth them, says. Of course they're going to share blame in what a client wanted, even if that one thing was the exact thing making the project "more than he could chew".

gangsta_red412d ago (Edited 412d ago )

@godmars

"Largely because the game existed before MS wanted it."

Where are you getting this info from, because the story I've read is that Kamiya had the idea for a while and always wanted to make it but ultimately went with Bayonetta. He then pitched the idea to MS and then started to develop it. There may have been ideas for features from in other games that may have found there way to Scalbound, but Scalebound was not created beforehand.

"Another is that more if not all Xbox titles have been online coop."

That may be true for most MS games but that still doesn't mean it was mandated by MS for Platinum to do. And even if it was, Platinum agreed to do it, there wasn't a surprise by MS that they needed to add multiplayer halfway through development. That is not how third party development works, both parties agree through signed contracts beforehand what's expected with milestone deliverables.

"..it made no sense to have customized versions of the same character popping up for boss fights."

Not sure what you're not understanding, but there were customized versions of different players coming to help for boss fight. Maybe there was a mechanic to have characters equip different gear, the same type of features that is pretty standard found in multiple games of its type.

"Of course they're going to share blame in what a client wanted, even if that one thing was the exact thing making the project "more than he could chew"."

Kamiyah has never held back his opinions, he's been extremely outspoken in the past. Enough years has gone by for him to have told even a fraction of what you think might have happened and still not him or anyone from Platinum, from recent employees to any ex employee has said anything of what you are claiming.

Medal of Honor 2010 was a good start for a modern reboot. The campaign was fantastic. Multiplayer wasn't great but that's DICE's fault. I'd love if they went back to that game and gave it a proper sequel.

SlothLordPootus497d ago

I actually really liked the multiplayer in MoH 2010. Battlefield gunplay on small maps. I would love to see a Rising sun remake, the opening scene would be amazing to see.

SonyStyled497d ago

I enjoyed the multiplayer of MoH 2010. It felt like battlefield 3 in a way. The multiplayer in Warfighter was also pretty good but the campaigns single player story was not appealing with the whole family cutscene thing. Gameplay was fun though. MoH to me is the PS1/2 titles and I don’t expect to see a WW2 MoH after the last Call of Duty’s

Levii_92497d ago

PS1 MOH 1999 and 2000 (Underground) and Allied Assault PC is my childhood.. it's still soo good and it holds up. Not to mention Michael Giacchino's soundtrack is one of the best video game soundtracks ever made. Even if you weren't born in early to mid 90's go listen to the main theme of Allied Assault and you will be overloaded from nostalgia.

I miss this franchise a lot.

Iceball2000497d ago

I’ve always thought that MOH and Battlefield should be separate…

Have MOH as the full fledged single player with an amazing store and whatnot. And a basic multiplayer just to have multiplayer. Sorta like how the MOH reboot was.

And then have BF as the full fledged multiplayer with all effort put into that and ditch the single player. Maybe add Commander back in.

Only in a perfect world.

HeliosHex497d ago (Edited 497d ago )

Oh man medal of honor on pc was awesome back in the day. Multi-player was fun. Joined my first clan on medal of honor. Definitely deserves a comeback. But needs to be on the same level or surpass COD. Since it came out before that ip in 1999 to avoid embarrassment.

FGHFGHFGH497d ago

The guys who did Allied assault are the one who created call of duty. They're back at EA, Vince something

MadLad497d ago

I'll be the weird guy in the room and say I actually loved Warfighter. I thought the squad mechanics made it stand out a bit and thought the shooting felt good. Put a lot of time into the multiplayer.
