Sony Trolls Next Xbox Reveal With “Beyond The Box” PS4 Ads on Xbox Google Searches

‘Console wars’ are a part of the industry, but with the PS4 and the next Xbox (Xbox Infinity, 720, LoveMachine) releasing in the same holiday season, the fight is set to be bloodier than ever. I always wait a minimum of one year (usually it ends up being a bit more than that) after launch before I even consider buying a console. I've done that since the SNES era and it hasn't failed me yet.

Yep. Same here. Won't get a PS4 until 2015. I've got a huge backlog on PS3 anyway and Sony will supporting PSN/PS plus until at least 2016. By then all the bugs will be worked out, and my backlog hopefully finished.

I got my PS3 in 2008 (I live in UK), for several reasons; Price (it was ridiculous), games (not many exclusives) and price again because it was really a killer. I still ended up paying £400 though I did get some games and controller, and Guarantee.

However PS4 seems to be taking the right path and Sony must have learnt a lot from the woeful PS3 launch. Price will hopefully not be a big concern, some top notch exclusives (Drive Club, Killzone SF, Infamous) and of course Multiplats like Watchdogs which look outstanding.

I don't think I've ever bought a console launch day, I've already put a deposit of £20 at Game.

Getting the system at launch has benefits and bragging rights. Its not all bugs and kinks and no games.

I have done it both ways and buying any Playstation at launch has been a sound investment. I cant say the same for Xbox due to the 360's launch, but I dont believe they will suffer those same mistakes this time around.

Launch PS3's were the best (in terms of features). 4x usb, B/C, ability to install Linux, card readers.
When they drop the price they generally drop a few features.

I have a feeling lots of people will do as you do. That is precisely why though everyone thinks the Wii U has failed because people are waiting for the big games. Developers see that and shy away from the systems. Then it's harder for sales to happen but I do get why you'd want to wait to see what happens. Besides it sounds like most games will come out for PS3/360 at the same time as the PS4/X1. That is not going to help Sony/MS convincing people to upgrade.

it makes sense to get the ps4 first as it has free online and more exclusives as well as blueray player to so those of you with an hdtv can get the full use out of your entertainment center. without blueray player your not maximizing your entertainment center purchase.

Um..does anyone actually know how Google's ad placement works? If you do a search, Google will hit you with related advertisements. Obviously if you're searching for next gen console information, the only ads our there currently for any type of "next-gen" console are going to be the PS4's ads.

Don't underestimate the weight of Call of Duty. As much as "real gamers" might hate it, 20+ million quasi-gamers buy that shit every year. If there is some full exclusivity, even just for some DLC, Microsoft is going to be golden.

MS had Timed Exclusivity this gen on DLC and helped NONE, lol. Multiplats and DLC doesnt sell consoles. Thats been proven time and time again. If MS wants to sell consoles then they are gonna need exclusive games.

Sales are pretty much flat for both systems when it comes to timed exclusive DLC. Which is different from timed exclusive full games.

Microsoft has had timed CoD DLC on multiple games as well as preferential treatment from Activision and yet the sales for the CoD franchise is still about 60/40 in the 360's favor. It still sells tens of millions on the PS3.

Fiends = people who collect, savagly rapes games until the disc are dust play on all consoles and has about 500 plus games

hardcore = mainly the fans of gaming in general..they buy the games they like regardless of console/graphics (below 300 games)

core = the fans of certain systems..(below 150 games)

casual = people who play less than 3 hours a week.. (below 20 games)

Nintendo screwed up the Wii U which is why i wont be getting it. But it appears to me that the PS4 and the 720 will be very similar which is why i will probably only buy one of them. At the moment im leaning towards the PS4 because i hate paying for online and i love Sony franchises. But if Microsoft does an amazing job with the reveal tomorrow i might change my mind.

Did you not read the ads on this site? Beyond the box implies that the box isn't important. As long as it doesn't look like a purple lunchbox, I think most people will be fine with whatever design they choose.

Nothing much of interest on the next Xbox anyway, it will be rehashed over rated shooters and other sequels. Nothing important like a proper Conker or Banjo game.

I don't think Sony have anything to worry about, as long as you have a good PC and PS4 you have the best of everything, and of course a 3DS or Wii U if you want Nintendo's games. Then there's Oculus Rift which will blow away the IllumiRoom thing that MS have.
