Which Franchises Should Nintendo Bayonetta?

GotGame: Nintendo certainly seems to have an interesting strategy for this generation. While their competitors are focused on gaining an exclusive edge with multiplatform titles from huge developers, such as Sony’s deal with Destiny or Microsoft’s early DLC for Call of Duty, Nintendo is reaching out to small and medium sized developers to gain exclusives. Nintendo is working with Platinum Games on the Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2, with Atlus for Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, with TT Fusion on Lego City Undercover, and with Sega for Sonic Lost World.

Bayonetta is an verb now? Wouldn't a better term be "Dead Rising"? Or "Goldeneye"?

Anyone know what the first console exclusive third party game was? Maybe that should be the name of this verb.

And on topic, any exclusives are welcome for the system at this point. Though I doubt it won't result with someone raging about them.

Does the writer mean, which game should Nintendo save from oblivion do to no one wanting to fund it?

I'd say Shenmue 3.

Also, SEGA's Aliens series.

shenmue or lost Odyssey

Locksus3987d ago

Lost odyssey is still property of Microsoft :I

Captain Qwark 93986d ago

i wasnt sure, guess i was hoping it wasnt and somebody would do something with it. one of the finest games this gen imo

Locksus3986d ago

Definitely agree. It was a better Final Fantasy game than FF13

Dj7FairyTail3986d ago

You mean Mistwalker. Which they have already invested in The Last Story and owned.

I was just wondering with Sega and Nintendo's great relationship how epic would an Aliens x Metroid be? She's a bounty hunter that travels through space to unknown planets, so it wouldn't be too far fetched to come up with a great tie in story.

kirbyu3986d ago

I've heard Alien was a big influence on the first 4 Metroid games, so that would be friggen awesome.

Shenmue is a real possibility, especially since SEGA is in nice and cozy with Big N now.
If they can pull that off, they will move some units on that alone.

Hard to tell because modern hobbyist, have no loyalty to this old series and if anything they may be more excited over Yakuza than Shen.

Still, it would be a great decision if they can make it happen.

JustinWeinblatt3986d ago

The problem with Shenmue III is that if they wanted to do it right, it would require a much higher budget than either Bayonetta 2, or Sonic The Lost World. Shenmue 3 would be a huge investment, and I'm not sure if the payout would warrant the investment. From a business perspective, I'm not sure it would make sense. From a gamer's perspective, it would be amazing if this happened.

syphon323986d ago

That was back when it came out, it was trying to push the boundaries of gaming, but now it's totally doable. For a budget check just look into what it cost to make yakuza. They basically have the same design style.

lilbroRx3986d ago (Edited 3986d ago )

No really. A lot of people fail to understand just why Shenmue cost so much. Most of the expense came from the research(traveling to China, advanced motion capture, making sculptures to help modal the in game character, etc.) and the fact that it was doing MANY things that had never been done before in gaming history. Also, the fact that it was originally being developed for the Saturn, which was scrapped and then had to start from scratch on the Dreamcast.

Yu Suzuki pushed the dev team to do things that they didn't even think were possible. They already have the data needed to make the game now. Most of the cost for Shenmue 3 would come simply from developing it on a next gen console.

syphon323986d ago

Shen way better than yakuza

JustinWeinblatt3986d ago

The budget for Yakuza 1/2 was about 21 million, but that was on the PS2. Couldn't find a budget for 3. Clearly we're not talking the budget of the original Shenmue series, but it's still a fairly hefty investment for a series that has been MIA for over a decade. That isn't taking into account marketing costs. If Shenmue 3 were to succeed it would require a big marketing push and Sega would need to port the original 2 games to the Wii U. It would be expensive. Not Shenmue I/II expensive, but more than Bayonetta 2 expensive.

Don't want to be a negative Nancy though. I would absolutely love to see Shenmue 3 on the Wii U or any other console. It's one of the few games out there that I would buy a console for, so hopefully it will happen.

I say give Mega Man to Nintendo and give Banjo to either the ex-Rare employees or Retro Studios.

Why Bayonetta 3 Is a Step Down From Its Predecessor

Many fans have been expressing their disappointment with Bayonetta 3. Here's why the recently released game is a clear step down from Bayonetta 2.

MadLad495d ago (Edited 495d ago )

Yet the Switch is much more powerful than the Wii U - the platform the second game released on. So you're just being negative to be negative with that comment.

anast495d ago

The voice acting wasn't as good...

jBlakeeper495d ago

Bayonetta herself doesn’t even look as good design wise.

-Foxtrot494d ago

I thought they focused on big kaiju like fights which felt gimmicky and thy brought this new character in to try and get away from the leading star

*Spoilers*

I mean they pretty much killed 3 big characters. They killed Jeanne, Luka and Bayonetta herself and it's not the fact they died it's how they died, we've seen Jeanne and Bayonetta survive countless things yet they go out by the lamest ways possible.
