Why Don't We Know Anything About The Last of Us' Multiplayer?

This is Naughty Dog we're talking about. Uncharted 3, in my opinion, IS the best multiplayer I've ever played, so I'm very excited to see how the multiplayer is.

IMO Uncharted 2 got a better MP than UC3. UC3 MP got a drastically downgrade graphic than its SP

You're basing it solely on the graphics? Sure they got downgraded but that's the case in most games. I found the gameplay and ranking/unlock system to be much better than UC2. Not a fan of the MP in either game though.

Yeah, the problem with UC3's multiplayer is that they tried to turn it into Call of Duty, which was really stupid.

I think UC2 multiplayer was better, but I think UC3 maps and dynamics changes were a significant improvement over UC2.

OT: I think the Last of Us is really going to be a survival based multiplayer experience similar to how the single player is. My guess is the multiplayer takes place during the first outbreak of the infection, which is why they can't show or speak on it due to spoilers.

Gameplay-wise you play as a survivor and you're in a small open environment scavenging for items to survive, however, there are 9 (UC3 5 v 5) other players on the map also doing the same thing. So you're goal is to get what you need to survive by any means necessary that means killing other players to get their supplies (or at least a percentage of what they had). Eventually a wave of infected will be released on the map, so not only do you have them to deal with, but other players as well.

So for instance you're hiding in a building, but you hear gunfire and look up and see someone being hoarded by the infected, you can take the chance to shoot the player and cause them to get killed. Afterwards you can throw a brick in the opposite direction, moving the infected away from the body, and jump down to collect the remaining supplies, only to get killed by someone else who was watching the entire time.

That would be complete bad@$$ and it's one of the theme I was going to use for one of my game if I every had the chance to develop a major IP :D. Best of all it would be great for co-op survival (horde mode), competitive co-op (2 v 2 v 2), or team deathmatch.

U3 got a downgrade in the graphics for mp because the 3D they wanted to put in.

I never got a chance to play Uncharted 2 multiplayer at its prime, so my opinion may be biased. I played it a couple months after Uncharted 3 came out.

I'd say more like the best coop, that's very important as well. Last of Us could have a hell of a coop feature just like Uncharted 2 & 3. Here's hoping....

I just played Uncharted 3 multiplayer, and it's STILL unbalanced, and the collision detection sucks. Uncharted 2 was so great, I just don't understand how they screwed up UC3 so bad.

Maybe because the multiplayer isn't important, it's just an added feature to make the package even more worthwhile.
Multiplayer is a key component to many games nowadays, don't want someone to pass it by because it doesn't have multiplayer, even though its not the point of the game

The multiplayer mode must be tied directly into Single Player, kind of like how Journey was technically an online multiplayer game even though we all throught it was single player.

Perhaps it will be sort of a campaign and it's all about taking over territories as different groups of people and you can see different events of the outbreak through the multiplayer maps.

Naughty Dog do not want anything to have the time to overshadow the carefully crafted single player experience and story. That is their baby and they want to promote that foremost.

The multiplayer, from what I've gathered, is an experiment that the team wanted to do to see what they could come up with, and according to Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley it has the same vibe and feel as the campaign and is full of surprises. I think they want to surprise us as much as possible with both aspects of the game, but mostly with the single player, which has always been their main focus.

Now think about THIS.

The Last of Us comes out on June 14th. Sony's E3 conference is June 10th. I think they've got a pretty big ace up their sleeve with multiplayer, and that is where they'll show it and demo it.
