Wait…Did Geoff Keighley unknowingly ruin the end of The Last of Us?

With The Last of Us shipping in less than a month gamers across the world are gearing up and getting excited to finally be able to have the game in their very own hands. But funny enough it’s what happened a month ago that has the potential to snatch that excitement right from under “Us” — a interview conducted by Gametrailers’ own Geoff Keighley which begs the question, did he just unknowingly ruin the end of the game?

Yeah somebody was posting the ending on n4g comments the other day. On non related articles too. Not sure if its true as im not following the game personally but if you are and you read it then that sucks. I had the same thing happen to me for Heavy Rain on here.

Actually they ruin it for us before Geoff Keighley mention it. They showed us a trailer where Joel look like he was turning into the infected while Ellie was aiming a gun at someone. Guess who? Joel!!! Even towards the end of the trailer Ellie was by herself in a snowy forest with a rifle on her back.

Update lol!!! I find the trailer. Watch at 1:21 and 1:31 to see what I am talking about. Heck I known about this before Geoff Keighley spill the beans.

At 1:32, Look at Joel, he has his winter gear, and look back at Ellie [at 1:33], she has her normal gear. And Joel isn't turning to a monster, his beard is just covered with snow, but I am pretty sure he got shot, or stabbed in the abdomen.
But what Ellie says at the end kind of connects with your theory. So I don't know, we should just play the game and find out.

joel dies sacrificing himself so ellie can escape. If they are wise, though, they will make both joel and ellie survive until the end of the third game in the trilogy so that when they finally do kill joel it will achieve maximum sadness

the trailers for the game kind of show the ending, which unfortunately is the bleeding obvious (i won't tell you what that 'bleeding obvious' is incase some of you may get pissed off but it is related to the endings of a couple of films that i've watched whose names i will not mention)

It's not a game that will make you cry or anything so who cares? I just hate that you have to walk around with an annoying AI partner the whole game (or most of the game anyway). It doesn't help that none of the characters are likeable either.

Look at the characters in Uncharted and you can see they all had personality and that's just gone in this game. Sure, it makes you see them as average people which is probably what they wanted but I couldn't care less if they both died or not. I wouldn't mind new protagonists for a second game with a new virus or something as long as they make the characters worth caring about next time.

SPOILER/ASSUMPTION:

Now that I've read the article even though I was trying to not get spoiled and know anything about the game's story, I honestly see that this could very well be true and I was thinking about that myself already. It makes sense, because Joel is only there to bring Ellie to another place. That makes him pretty dispensable for the actual mission itself. And if he would train Ellie in combat, shooting, crafting, basically surviving and then turn at a point where she can take cae of herself, that would be cool.

And I'm also thinking about aomething else from another Interview (I think) where they say that you'll cry at least three times and one time is during gameplay. So I was like, damn, it would make perfect sense if you (playing as Ellie right after Joel became infected) had to shot infected Joel in order to continue the journey. That would just be.. crazy and emotional.

Let's see if that will really happen.
