more customisation and hidden ways. I would love to find really obscure ones on a really long track.

More customization in both singleplayer and multiplayer. Crank it up to Smash Bros-tier. Let us select which items can and cannot be obtained, their rarity. Let us adjust the hazards on a map. Let us create our own "Cups" by picking a list of our favorites (maybe they already do this in the recent MK games?)

Also, they need a better blend of maps. Some really really short ones (like the SNES throwback ones or that Peach Raceway on Double Dash) and longer ones. They need more short and medium-length tracks

* 5 Cups x 4 tracks per cup = 20 tracks instead of 16

* 5 Retro cups in same format as above ^

* This would give us 40 tracks instead of 32. Also it allows there to be more tracks to use for retro tracks in future MK games

* Bonus Cup = Tracks based on things outside of the Mario Universe. This would only apply to this one Bonus cup and not entire game.

EX: Hyrule Field, Pikmin Track,..ect...

creating and sharing tracks. if mod nation racers is going to steal all Nintendo's ideas at least take modnations only good one.

1. Super Mario Kart has already been used.
2. The karts getting damaged? Never gonna happen.
3. 12 or 16 race grand prix? What are you talking about?
4. I still don't see what's the big deal about the Blue Shell. I always thought the Bullet Bill was the best item.
5. Yoshi Valley returning might be cool.
6. Remove the water and air driving. I hated air driving more, all it does is slow you down.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.
