Naughty Dog Lead Artist: Prepare for the best MultiPlayer ever conceived - The Last Of Us

From what it appears,Naughty Dog (or at least Lead Artist Nate Wells) appears to be quite enthusiastic about The Last of Us' online component.

A really bold statement but with this coming from the likes of Naughty Dog, who have in the past, been quite humble about their monumental achievements with the Uncharted franchise, they must really have something very special indeed.

I usually don't give in to statements such as this, which are usually designed to generate hype but considering how unique and amazing The Last of Us is already looking, we could have a potential game changer.

You mean like the copy and pasted Uncharted 3 mutliplayer that was EXACTLY the same as Uncharted 2 and didnt feature any of the improvements that were in the single player.

The best Multiplayer game this year will be GTA V, GTA IV is still one of the most played games on Live, PSN and steam.

They can say whatever they want. I'll judge it when I play it. ND has a track record of ruining already fantastic MP experiences with needless patches and boosters that break the balance of the game. UC3 MP was so unbalanced that it needed to go free to play to regain an audience in a desperate attempt to sell some DLC. Taking this into account, they SHOULD be humbled by now.

EDIT: Btw, in the past ND said that they wanted UC3 to be the "go to online game for the PS3"...look how that turned out. Everything ND says has to be put into question until the game releases.

I dunno. GOW:A multiplayer is probably the best multiplayer I have played this gen. But bring it Naughty Dog. You DESTROYED the competition with Uncharted 3 Multiplayer so I'm sure you will not disappoint.

I loved Resistance, and Uncharted's multiplayer, but haven't tried Ascension's yet(will though). Im gonna have to agree with you on that Uncharted 2 had the best multiplayer I've played in a game this gen, next to COD 4 and L4D, it was simple yet fun and reminded me of the old days playiny Quake 1 and Unreal.

But in UC3 they kinda dropped the ball, for starters the game was laggy as hell, they threw in these COD killstreaks and perks that and the health was too high, I dunno if it had somethijng to with lag but it literally took me 2 clips of an AK to kill someone.

That said given the type of game TLOU is I'm hoping the multiplayer is a co-op style of game kind of like the co-op in UC2-3 but with zombies.

First off I'm even more excited now that I decided to pre-order this (as everything I'm hearing seems to suggest:) masterpiece.

Second, @DatNJDom81 and some.. sometimes I wonder if you guys are experts on typing at phones or even at the ps3 or if you actually have a PC and live in gaming denial.

Some ps3 games have great MP but no way my top 5 great MP of all time would *only* have PS3 games (even though I love it, my only console atm).

I'm more excited for this than I was for Uncharted 2.

What excites me the most is the way in which Naughty Dog has made such subtle and tasteful design choices, so things aren't overblown like in Uncharted.

This way, although things escalate and there will lots of action, nothing is filler and everything has substance.

Can't wait to explore the beautiful post-pandemic world, toy with amazing AI, meet characters who you may or may not be able to trust, and experience the vitally emotional story.

uncharted 2 was the 2nd game in the series and it added multiplayer and it turned out great. Great devs make great choices and implement them right. ND is a great dev so i trust whatever choices they decide to make.

They didn't know about GPA,Survival,Tournament,The way the clan system worked(the legit ones,it was like being in the milatary), the way people rememberd you, for god sakes you were like a movie star if you were legit.

The game itself already looks bad in just single player. I mean Naughty Dog couldn't come up with any good character designs (or gameplay for that matter). I just hope this new IP flops so they can go on to make a better new IP. Uncharted was great for a new IP but I can't believe they wasted time with this garbage.

I know Naughty Dog has two teams now so the team that made this must've been a new one with no experience because this game doesn't scream Naughty Dog quality like their other games. I'm sure Jak 4 was likely canceled pre-development for this casual zombie inspired garbage. I just hope their future Uncharted games don't suck.

I would like to see a MP that isn't a FPS/TPS type of scenario. I would like to see a surviver type mode where its a big sandbox style map with different human groups that would be the players random creatures and zombies walking around that everyone has to deal with and then objectives on top of it, like who can get the water truck back to camp or food boxes or something of that nature. you could band together with other clans or everyone for themselves. More realistic situations with the context of the game, rather than my team against yours, you know.

The thing that always bothered me about Uncharted's multiplayer is how silly it is. Not only can you be fat people and people from Killzone, but more than one person can be the same exact dude (or woman). That just ruins the experience for me. How can there be 2 or 3 Nathan Drakes running around? I think they should leave the single player characters OUT of the multiplayer and let everyone make their own character (like GTA IV).

This is why I hate Naughty Dog, they are unbelievably arrogant. I mean, in 24 years they've only created 1 game that averages in the 95% range (92.5-97.5) whereas Sony Santa Monica created 3 in a row in 14 years whilst sharing their time helping tons of other developers on their games, so why are they so big headed? They aren't that great.

People only started to notice and respect them since 2009 and now they think they're the shit. They should be more humble. I will still rent TLoU but I hope it falls short of the hype (it definitely will, the hype is just too much) just so ND developers realise they need to be more humble and decent.

If this was anyone but Naughty Dog i would be worried, but they have proven that they can deliver a stellar single player experience and still have viable multiplayer included. Where as other companies seem to end up halving the effort on single player to tack on some badly done multiplayer and ending up with a average game at best all to try and cater to everyone.

Maybe we all start as humans, with limited supplys fight the infected and as we turn we join the infected side.

or I mean maybe they'll invent some super rewarding Co-op where you get badges and hard to get gear for your player. These modes could be story orintated(which it might force you to exicute one of you're teamates) and might get you a repetion of a jerk next to you're name. Some people will love you and some won't play with you, Maybe missions could be assigned by people who are looking for the good, the bad or the ugly(with pay that would be worth it,some kind of reward system that won't be cheap).

ND talking about good multiplayer lol, they just got lucky with UC2 mp at the start and then preceded to make it worse and worse, with UC3 being an cluster f*** of unbalance and noobfriendly nonsense.

the only thing i would expect from TLOU would be overpowered situational awareness, over powered melee, and also overpowered blindfire if bullets are plenty, noob friendly gameplay and general unbalanced along with patches that not only dont fix problems but also create whole new ones.
thats what i would expect. - the fact that the uc3 team had to drop everything uc3 releated and help get TLOU done in time would have me even more worried since the UC3 team is the C team.

judging by the no. of dislikes recieved by people who say something bad about UC mp - there must be a large no. of knobheads on UC3 present here
