Gran Turismo 6 – watch full presentation from Silverstone

Gran Turismo 6 was announced during an event at the Silverstone Circuit by Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi. VG247′s Sam Clay filmed the entire presentation for you. Watch the next iteration in racing simulation’s reveal below.

abzdine3996d ago

those numbers in the end are extremely impressive and almost scary!
i'm excited for this game and i'm getting it day one!

thechosenone3996d ago

hell yeah brah. I haven't been this excited for a PS3 game since LoU. I love that Sony has chosen to end the PS3 life with such amazing games. I can't wait to see what they do next gen.

aCasualGamer3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

I know the video is about Gran Turismo 6, but i couldn't focus on anything other than the Translator. Him and his notebook are legendary now.

Larry L3996d ago

TRANSLATOR-SAN !!!!!!

I see what the real point of this GT event was now. Not to announce GT6 and the new GT Academy, it was to give Translator-san a warm-up before E3. He was off today, should have had a warm-up on the material before thise event. Translator-san kinda pulled the energy out of Yamauchi-san's presentation.

But it's the game that matters. That said, what's the over-under bookies are giving on this game making it out in the pre-Christmas window?

a_bro3996d ago

they're trying to make him give a f**k....

thechosenone3996d ago

either he's extremely nervous which cause him to stutter a lot or he doesn't give a sh*t cause his boss doesn't understand english anyway. xD

Me-Time3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

From what I gathered over the years, Kaz is just insecure about his English-speaking proficiency.

Larry L3996d ago

Yeah, he deffinitely understands english. A couple times in this presentation Kaz points out he said something wrong and/or missed saying something, and tells him to say the right thing.

This may be Translator-San's last appearance, lol.

Knushwood Butt3996d ago

Yeah, I hope someone creates a version of this that edits him out.

Knushwood Butt3996d ago

Looks like the AV team dropped the ball too: remote control dodgy, no sound..

The much more advanced physics and track creator is what I'm most interested in! That scenery for your custom track looked amazing!

Minato-Namikaze3996d ago

And they said GT 6 wouldn't be a big improvement over GT5 if it was PS3 exclusive.

Larry L3996d ago

GT has always had the best physics on consoles anyway (aside from 2 games, Ferrari and SuperCar Challenge, but no one paid attention to those games anyway), but since the word simulator is pushed with GT, and with Project Cars having some really advanced physics coming to consoles, yeah....PD needed to step their game up with the tire and suspension physics modelling. And that's right where their attention went, so credit to PD for knowing where they're lacking.

And the GPS integration with the track creator......am I going to be able to make a track out of my town from GPS data? That would be so crazy! I know a couple places in my area that would make good tracks. I hope they aren't including the houses, you know some idiots would be like "Yeah MFer!!! I live right here, come get me let's see how tough you are!!!" LOL

But wouldn't a GSP track creator mean you could just plug in "Watkin's Glen Raceway" and you could have a basic representation of the track, which hopefully you could then tweak to perfect? I wonder how deep it actually is. NEED MORE DATA !!!!!

SoapShoes3996d ago

I don't think it'll recreate the area, just the layout of the road. Also Project CARS will undoubtedly have decent physics but I doubt it'll best GT6 maybe just maybe GT5.

VonBraunschweigg3996d ago

The track from which GT for PS4 will be announced still needs to be planned & build, I heard it will be in Japan.

I like GT5, I'm looking out for the PS4, but why Sony? Why make us wait another 3 or 4 years before we get to play our nextgen GT on our nextgen PS.

Larry L3996d ago

I doubt it will be that long. As soon as GT6 is shipped, they'll probably start optimizing for the PS4 version of GT6 and release it some time in PS4's second year once there's an install base and the year 1 games can get some sales.

Then take a well deserved break, because I don't think the PD team as a whole has taken a break since GT5 development went into high gear. Kaz even said around GT5's launch GT6 development started as soon as 5 was shipped.

VonBraunschweigg3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

You wish. GT6 is made for PS3 and "optimizing" a PS3 game for PS4 is perhaps possible, but will never get you the results you would get when developing for PS4. Not acceptable, especially for a GT game.

GT6 when it releases later this year is already optimised, for PS3. There is no GT for PS4, and there won't be for a looong time. PD will get their brake, I certainly am not going to deny them their brake, and after that they will ask Sony for a devkit and start thinking when they will start thinking about the development of Gran Turismo 7

Prologue.

As much as I love GT and Sony supporting consoles for more years than the competition, I think this is a missed opportunity. Sure they want to make money and PS3 has the userbase, but somewhere in that 15 year long special relationship I saw the opportunity for something special. A new GT game at the start of a new consolegeneration. They would sell eachother.

Larry L3996d ago

They say right in the press-release that the engine is scaleable and ready for the future, which means PS4. Besides, by the time I type this reply it's already a story that they have a PS4 version in mind. Looks like 1-0 me. lol jk.....kinda

Minato-Namikaze3996d ago

If the ps4 version of gt 6 wont be out until the PS4's second year then they might as well start work on GT7. No reason to release a ps4 version of GT6 in late 2014 or early 2015

Salooh3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

Your dream come true n4g members. And just like what i expected just more content with a little improvement. Which is great for ps3 but disappointing for the ps4. It would be great if they released it in the beginning of this year but noo they want us to keep the ps3 even after ps4 released which is annoying as hell.

Disappointing for me but you people here wanted a ps3 version so stop complaining. What they did is great for ps3. That's the best you gett from this old hardware..

Customazation (check)
More premium cars (check)
More tracks and really amazing track editor (Check)

It will release after 5 months (check)

Between Sophy and PSVR 2, Polyphony is REALLY pushing videogames forward into a whole new era.

crazyCoconuts172d ago

"Gran Turismo has to run on the PlayStation 5, and that means Sophy cannot consume all the computing resources of the machine."
Interesting - I thought at first Sophy was controlled from their server farms. Seems like they've got it running locally.

Yamauchi on Why Gran Turismo Works in VR Without Making You Sick

Remon: "I didn't expect Gran Turismo 7 to be the most relaxing and soothing game on Playstation VR2 . Yes, it's a high speed racing game with extremely realistic physics. But for me, next to Tetris Effect Connected, it's become the most meditative PSVR 2 experience. What's even more surprising is that Gran Turismo 7 in PSVR 2 doesn't make me sick despite its high speeds.

Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi spoke to me via video chat to discuss why the GT7 feels so enjoyable to drive and what inspired his design choices."

I was very careful not to push myself when i first popped GT7 in VR, by limiting myself to 30 min sessions. I got sick from Drive Club VR. Surprisingly, even after hours of playing on a Gr 3 race, I don’t get sick now.

SullysCigar366d ago

Yamauchi has suggested in the past that choosing a slower car that's a convertible is a good choice for your first drive, because it makes you feel less enclosed, but you still have the frame of reference of the car itself.

When I put friends or family into GT7 on PSVR2, I sit them in front of my wheel, put them in a Mazda MX-5 / Miata, roof off and tuned to remove body roll, improved brakes, slick soft racing tyres and a turbo. This seems perfect, as they spin out less and can get started again more easily if they do. It's not too fast, but fast enough for a first timer. Set up a fan facing them too - that certainly helps.

But people quickly adjust and you just want more variation, speed and handling as you get better at the game. It's the most hooked I've been for years.

XiNatsuDragnel366d ago (Edited 366d ago )

Congratulations Yamauchi

Viljong366d ago

Is vr sickness even a thing. 30 fps games are worse

mandf366d ago

Nothing to do with frames although that has a part. Walking and then saddening stopping messes with your brain for some people. Me included

Viljong365d ago

Switchback is the only game which give me slight nausea same as irl rollercoaster. When it go highspeed and steep downhill comes it feel like my stomach is moving up and im falling off my stool. Interesting that i get the same effect than irl coaster without movement. But i dont call it vr sickness its just very immersive. Other games i play with freemovement and all vignette effects off.

Have GT7 too and playing it without nausea. Its superb in vr mode. Wish i could get the logitech g923 for it. But dualsense is very good aswell and feel right at home after playing forza on series x. Ofc with better haptics that dual sense offer. Only bad thing about gt7 is the unskipable movie when you play it first time. I was getting frustrated after all the motor history it start showing ingame racing i think the whole thingh lasted like 20-30min. Then you get the coffeeshop things and tutorials going on and finally when you get to race you have 120hp hybrid family car.

lucian229365d ago

Any artificial movement can cause motion sickness. Certain games I can't play in vr be cause of it. That's why I prefer games like superhot thst move only when your body moves

kneon365d ago

It's the discrepancy between what you are seeing and feeling and what your brain expects to be seeing and feeling that causes issues in VR. That's why latency is a killer. if you turn your head and the image lags behind it messes you up.

mandf365d ago

Kneon
You're right about that. Gt7 gave me motion sickness in the beginning but went away. I play for 12 hours a day on the weekend with no problems now. Pavlov still gets me. Resident evil is awesome but when I walk it gets me. It gets less over time.

RPGer366d ago

Because the nature of GT games. The game and the camera is static as ever, and it very usable and a prefect way to play racing game with long sessions in VR.

Einhander1971366d ago

I must say I'm still feeling sick when playing Turismo.

Babadook7365d ago (Edited 365d ago )

That’s too bad. Take it slow. Don’t push through uncomfortable feelings. Just play within your limit and build your VR legs over the course of a month or two. Eventually you’ll be able to play much more and with faster cars. It’s worth it, trust me.

Comparing the New Grand Valley in Gran Turismo 7 to the Original

A detailed look at Gran Turismo 7's new track Grand Valley, judging its evolution from its former design and layout in Gran Turismo 6, side by side.

SullysCigar427d ago (Edited 427d ago )

Wow, crazy isn't it? The draw distance is vastly improved, the background textures too and there's ZERO shimmer now. And the replays are night and day!

EIDT: @below, Haha I didn't notice that!

IRetrouk427d ago

Yeah, theres a massive improvment all round, Looks amazing with the time of day transitions too, me and a couple online buddies jumped on earlier to try it out lol, did you notice the beach full of seals?

closed_account427d ago

That coastline looks amazing and I can only imagine it in VR! Looks like an entirely new course as far as scenery goes.

IRetrouk427d ago

Yeah, those views are going to be crazy when we are "there" can't wait!

PureBlood427d ago

Just got confirmation my PSVR2 is shipping by 24 hour courier, so I should have it tomorrow! I know nobody else cares, but I had to tell someone lol

GT7 will be my first game, as I want to test out my wheel - so excited - it's going to be awesome!

Deathdeliverer427d ago

I got my confirmation and date (22nd) showing for the charging station. The headset itself has been in “shipped-processing” status since last Friday. I’m like dang can I see the date? I was in the first round of preorders. Whenever it does get here, I’m ready. Going to go update everything and try to get over this cold.

PureBlood427d ago

Wish you better, bud, fingers crossed for your order too.

@S2Killinit - Thank you!

IRetrouk427d ago

I care👊🏻, mine is still saying prep for shipping😔

PureBlood427d ago

Thanks man 👊

Word of advice: be ready for the impromptu jig that happens when that email drops, it can be embarrassing..

DaReapa427d ago

Just got my second shipping confirmation email as well.

Man i caant wait. One day left!

Flawlessmic427d ago

I know you and a lot of people are excited for VR but dont sleep on sophy, sophy is the real game changer here!

After giving sophy a run last night, i can safely say the actual racing in future GT's is going to be Fu***** amazing!!!

even on intermediate on some tracks the AI was coming back at me on my waiting for me to slip, attacking the space if i left the door open for them, honestly felt like i was racing against people and not some very limited AI that once i passed them they may as well have been eliminated from the race like GT ai normally is.

pump it up to expert and its a real challenge to stay ahead, the next level up from expert man the AI kicked my ass, like badly.

i remember when sophy was first annouced all the nay sayers said its a pipe dream and we will never see it implemented and here we are a yr later and sophy is being tested in game for us to try out and is every good as whats been promised.

VR plus racing against sophy and wowww your not gonna feal like your actually racing for real anywhere else outside of gt.

sophy will change the game in gt8

S2Killinit427d ago

Hm I didnt realize it was like that. I didnt even know why there was so much hype about it. But thanknyou for explaining that. I mean I get it now.

But I’ll be seeing it in action tomorrow! Woot woot.

Flawlessmic427d ago

It's only for a limited time and only has 4 races but I encourage you and everyone else try it and see the difference compared to the normal Ai.

Sophy has slipped completely under the radar in this latest uodate
