JoGam - IDK, I'm still waiting for both consoles to be shown and what they have to offer and for Sony to go in more depth with their offering. I'm leaning towards the Xbox only due to having more friends on there than on PSN, but I play most of the exclusives they offer on the PS3 so I don't miss out on some good games.

Dude, not everyone cares about Gears, Halo and having to pay to play online, in which case it wouldn't make much sense to be a Microsoft "loyalist" either.
Some people don't have a reason to buy an Xbox over a PS4. Even if the Nextbox may be superior in some ways or not.

I'm excited to see what the big 3 have to show. We all know why about MS and Sony, and if Nintendo doesn't come up with some compelling software to show, that's releasing this year, Wii U is done. The Vita is actually outselling it.

To be honest, it is not being one dimensional when one box you are certain that their first party studios will be launching existing and new ip's for the years to come plus it being supported by third party devs. While the other seems more like a third party machine and to me there is literally no point in purchasing that. The only reason for me having an xbox is for gears and that game hasn't had the same level of impact that the first one had on me. So a machine that offers a variety of quality exclusives plus third party support is far better than one that has very few exclusives and third party support. It is as simple as that. You get more from one than the other.

So I was thinking about the price and date business.... and what would be announced or not announced. E3 is the big show... but lets not forget Gamescom has grown increasingly important. In the past Sony has been really the only one to hold a conference at Gamescom, could they only announce price at E3 and hold release date until Gamescom?

If I recall correctly Sony held off the announcement of the PS3 Slim until Gamescom. Just wondering if that shows growth is big enough to play into strategies for this launch for either company.

How is this news? Obviously it is very likely that Sony and MS will give the release date and price of their next gen consoles at E3. The console are releasing only 5 months after E3 and there is no bigger gaming event in that period. Patcher just says the obvious.

we need something on the console side that can at least compete with a 2 year old gaming pc

and the ps4's 1.6 ghz cpu and laptop gpu are NOT going to cut it

You can try to make up specs and talk about them as if they're facts all you want, at the end of the day if Sony developers can makes games look as amazing as God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls or Killzone 3 on the PS3 and the PS4 is what, 10 times more powerful, the games next generation will be near enough film quality.

The PS4 specs ARE going to cut it, hell, the Killzone: Shadow Fall demo was poorly optimised running on just 3/7GB ram (1GB reserved for OS) and it already looks as good or better than the best looking PC games today. When they release their 2nd game and when Sony Santa Monica, Quanitc Dreams, Naughty Dog get their games out you will be eating your words, the games are going to be beautiful and no matter how much you trash what you think its specs are it's not going to make beautiful games look ugly.

Stop hating and start appreciating, you're a gamer, correct? Why the bitterness then? You should be excited for powerful new consoles with fresh new gaming experiences... not finding problems that aren't there and being pessimistic and bitter.
