Wow, that is some expensive DLC.

Gamesgbkiller3991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

On a FREE game.

V9 Ghost3991d ago

So not really free if you want to have a chance

DigitalRaptor3991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

@ V9 Ghost

CCP have said that it's not a Pay-to-win game.

V9 Ghost3991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

I hope so, because if players get the idea that it's pay to win they wil abandon it I fear

AbyssGravelord3991d ago

@DigitalRaptor

but it is, have you even tried the game? your gun has no accuracy while the people who payed have excellent weapons.

HammadTheBeast3991d ago

@Deathtilldawn

Have you played it? Any weapon that has a paid version has a free version.

Most of the top "corps" only use free stuff anyways.

MysticStrummer3991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

@Death - I've played it quite a bit and no, it's not pay to win.

darkhitman3991d ago

@D3athTillDawn

the guns the older beta testers are using are not AUR(real money) in general they just have spent the SP for accesses to top tire weapons in fact most of the calls for an assault rifle to be nefted is a ISK gun.

I currently have some AUR proto suits for planetary conquest but once i have the sp i will be able to buy ones for isk

BattleAxe3991d ago

I tried this game out for the first time lastnight, and it wasn't anything special. The gunplay was really twitchy, the environments feel really dry and open, and there is way way way too many details to look after when building your character.

You would have to invest some serious time into this game to get to know everything intimately. I think its going to be hard for this game to really take off with Killzone: Shadow Fall and Battlefield 4 coming out. The only real cool thing about the game is while you're in your personal room or in the mission briefing area, it has a bit of a Mass Effect feel to it.

It's "DLC" in that you get a lot of the "paid" currency, and some copies of the free stuff you'd spend in game currency on anyways.

All expansions will be free, so it only benefits noobs and people who play less.

Jek_Porkins3991d ago

Wow, $100 DLC ? I understand it's free to play, or pay to win, but that is a lot of money. Why not just release a physical game and Season Pass?

DigitalRaptor3991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

Free to play =/= Pay to win

And this game would gain a larger audience from being F2P. This kind of game wouldn't be a big seller due to its complex, pervasive systems and unconventional gameplay.

Because it isn't a necessity purchase jek, anymore than the various hundred dollar+ collectors editions we see released for games all the time that come with master chief action figures, metal gear lava lamps, bioshock LPs, ranger mode difficulties, cod rc cars, lithographs, soundtracks and various legacy grenade/lightning hook bells 'n' whistles.

Its not a physical release so there's no tin case version to hock or uplay system for frequent flyers...so like any mmo (check out some of DCUO's subscription prices from launch) they offer tiers of mmo things in lieu like boosters, vehicles, armor.

MaSs effect 3 had a similar online economy where u could use real money to increase ur odds at getting that new geth skin or harpoon gun. Its not pay to win, anymore than the black ops 2 dlc smgs and their mostly aesthetic appeal. The actual maps and modes in Dust514, remain free. You're not buying onslaught modes ala bad company 2 or episodic pve halo4 content, so it doesn't fall into the 'season pass' category.

zippycup3991d ago

i wish they would make another everquest online adventures for ps3

MysticStrummer3991d ago

Indeed. If you look you can find some of the artwork from EQoA on a screen in the PSN store, or at least it was there for a long time. Just a cruel tease I guess.

Skate-AK3991d ago

I'm going to watch the ratings and to get an idea of how many people get that $100 DLC.

I'm going to finally check this out.

this should be interesting.

Findingcrybabies2997d ago (Edited 2997d ago )

wow. that's messed up. I don't play the game, but shutting it down and then a month after that showing your replacement game after you told the community screw you. LOL. Remind me to never support or play a CCP game. There are games that came out many years before this one and the devs keep the servers up for people.

samden2997d ago

It's on an old console and was nearly dead in the water when it launched. Not much of a community left to anger. Quite frankly, it sucked, and I'm excited to see what the next one will bring.

Tony-Red-Grave2997d ago

From launch to death Dust was only really ever a poor mans M.A.G. God I miss M.A.G and Valor.

Pongwater2996d ago

Dust 514 was free so I don't see your point, but I do find your name ironic.

@Tony - Yeah I still wish for MAG2, or even a PS4 remaster of MAG.

evergrace2997d ago

One of the worst shooter games on ps3.

noxeven2996d ago

I remember them saying it was supposed to contribute to eve and everyone was up in arms and that never happened and it just fell to the way side

Pongwater2996d ago

I'm not sure enough people ever played DUST 514 to say "everyone was up in arms", but there were in fact cross play battles between EVE and DUST.

It was a cool concept with some sizable flaws, but I'd be interested in a sequel that addressed some of those flaws. I thought I heard there was a PS4 version coming, but maybe that's my imagination.

tanukisuit2996d ago

It was definitely ambitious given the tech involved and how late into last gen we were. They tried though and cross gameplay is getting more relevant, so I think not all was lost...

Player-created DUST514 Trailer Calls For EVE:Phoenix

DUST514 players create EVE:Phoenix trailers as part of their #PortDUST514 campaign.

Since the announcement of the DUST514 sequel EVE:Legion by CCP Games at FanFest 2014, there has been an almost eerie silence about the project from the game’s creators. Domains and trademarks were registered, and later left expired, for the EVE:Legion brand, and the player base was left watching as no actual news or progress updates were given by CCP, even at the various player-gatherings or CCP’s own FanFest 2015.

The players of DUST514, both past and current, have rallied under a banner, #PortDUST514, led by Ripley Riley, and are using this hashtag on social media to highlight that there is still a desire for a sequel or a port of the game to a more recent platform than the Playstation 3.
Most recently, this has resulted in the players creating propaganda posters and “memes”, and even voiced trailers, for what they themselves have named EVE:Phoenix.

The player Pokey Dravon, with the help of several other players, created this trailer for the campaign.
