Will WWE Games Become Better - WWE 2K14?

IRB Gamer: "Alright, it’s time to discuss yet again the one true title you’ll find me pouring more hours into than Call of Duty. Yep, It's WWE. And now with the title in the hands of 2K Sports, my heart can only wonder where will we go from here."

Its doubtful since Yukes is still the developer

I only got WWE13 because of the old school wrestlers, I don't follow WWE anymore, only between 90-2001. I don't expect 14 to sell as well. I might look into a PS4 WWE game in the future tho.

yugovega3999d ago

if only they could make it as good as the n64 wrestling games then maybe they would have a winner.

THamm3999d ago

You'd think after reading your comment that developers would understand how correct you are. What you have stated is the number 1 reason the WWE games don't live up no matter how real it looks, a wrestling game is about gameplay first, where the heck is AKI anyway and are they that expensive for a publisher to hire??

cleft53999d ago

No Mercy N64, was so good.

yugovega3999d ago

the wcw vs nwo games where great also. even the royal rumble game on dreamcast was closer to n64 the they have been in years. and why can I still not have a royal rumble that includes all 30 men in the ring at once?

Tonester9253999d ago

Day of Reckoning was chaotically fun

sarcastoid3999d ago

You're right. Graphics aren't EVERYTHING these days. I mean I think visually, WWE games look pretty decent but I'd take No Mercy with an updated roster ANY day over any current WWE game. The gameplay was about as solid as you can get. They try so hard for simulation now but in doing so they lose focus on what makes wrestling games truly fun and enjoyable.

I loved wwe 13 so im excited to see wwe2k14. you people whine too much, there was little wrong with 13 other than no backstage still. if they put more effort into the arenas then the would be gold

NYC_Gamer3999d ago (Edited 3999d ago )

Its because the N64 WWF/WCW games were much better gameplay wise

Captain Qwark 93999d ago

they did nothing that the new ones dont other than no mercy which had the backstage arenas. customization is way better, the gameplay is just as fluid now as it was then, still have weapons, all sorts of match types, etc. i played them all and i still play the new ones today. backstage arenas is the biggest difference

cleft53999d ago

They where better story and content wise as well. The restrictions current wrestling games impose on you is just stupid. So what if I want to beat the game as a Diva. It's not like anyone thinks a Diva can actually beat the Undertaker.

The modern wrestling games are more concerned about image and a lot less about fun. The same thing is true about modern day wrestling. I still like wrestling somewhat, but it is a shame when the best matches are by wrestlers like the Undertaker. The WWE has all this young talent and they just let it rot. I like the Rock, but he isn't going to be around long-term.

THamm3999d ago

The gameplay may be fluid but not technically easy to pick up and play as the AKI games. It was easy for a beginner and was superb to try to master, they never got old and the presentation was fluid and so damn cool at the time

crazysammy3999d ago

@Captain

I respectfully disagree. The reason the AKI n64 games were so good was because of consistency. There was a fighting engine that rivaled the balance of any fighting game. The new games have sloppy controls and even worse physics. The N64 AKI grapplers had tight controls and the game worked as it was supposed to EVERY TIME.

People do complain alot and just like last year i said if people sat in the seat of the developers they would pribably understand why there is certain things missing in the games i mean every year people ask for more but the developers can only do so much. All i wamt is an up to date roster and maybe a few old heads from wwe 13 haha. Stop having us in the dark 2k we wanna know what your working on?

topgun333999d ago

Personally, the only thing I am concerned about these yearly wwe releases are the old rosters and you have to pay for lame dlc wrestlers. By having 2k take the license, they should have free updated rosters every few months like they have with the NBA games

I was always partial to the arcade wrestling games like Saturday night slam masters, wwf superstars, wrestlefest, wrestlemania, wrestle war and then a NES classic... pro wrestling. By the time the N64 era of wrestling games happened, I wasnt into wrestling much anymore (tv & games).

jjb1981825d ago

It was all about the Starman Somersault or the Tiger Claw!

Fist4achin825d ago

Starman was awesome. I also remember a tan dude with bright yellow hair. Good times!

Smackdown 1+2 on PSX
A lot of hours went into those two games

Virtual Pro Wrestling 1 & 2 > Most games on that list.

Also, WCW/NWO Revenge should be #2 minimum.

Are Wrestling Games Getting Worse?

Some of you may know that the latest instalment in the WWE gaming franchise 2K20 was released late last year to generally poor reviews. Some of this was based on graphical issues, but mostly it was due to the many glitches and bugs found – many of which are hilarious to witness.

Fire Pro needs more love. The last PS4 title gets regular playtime from me.

I hear that there are financial troubles at the studio, but I'm hopeful for a Switch port one of these days.

The Wood1559d ago

Anyone remember Giant Gram Wrestling on the Dreamcast .....

Rambokind1559d ago

Ah hell yes! That was loads of fun.

Acecalibur1559d ago

Fire Pro just gets better. Buy it.

micdagoat191559d ago

I have Fire Pro for PS4 and PC but it seems more of like a Sim creator rather than people actually playing out matches. I still dont like anything as much as the N64 games

b163o11558d ago (Edited 1558d ago )

Golden Era of wrestling games in the Golden Era of wrestling. I've been contemplating going back and getting a N64 and getting those classic's

addictedtochaos1559d ago

Yes, the WWE ones at least. The last good one was 2K14 and the last great one was Here Comes the Pain.
