Rockstar won't be showing GTA 5 at E3

Rockstar will not be attending E3, parent company Take-Two has confirmed.

Good strategy, but considering the amount of content that will be in GTA V, and the fact that Rockstar North stated that they're trying not to give a lot of it away, so whatever you see, will most likely inspire excitement, not ruin surprises for you.

It's the biggest gaming convention in the world and when you have one of the most anticipated titles of the year coming out soon, it seems like common sense to want to show it off. The point of my post is that I just can't fathom their logic in not wanting to attend.

They have not been at E3 in... well since I can remember.

If R* want to show something big off they may show something just before e3 or just after, but they do things on their own terms.

Rockstar doesn't really need to prove much, we know the game is going to be quality, plus they've been teasing us with screen shots and 3 character trailers in one day was more than enough to get me excited for the game. The Wii U needs games right now, so to not step on stage to show what they have in store (and it doesn't just have to be games, it could be new features that could be added to the Wii U) is disheartening. Plus when was the last time you saw Rockstar show off anything at E3?

Also, how are you comparing 1 game/1 developer to a console manufacturer that should be trying to shed as much light as possible for their newest console? You can expect PS4 and the New Xbox to be the main highlights at E3.

So Rockstar will make an appearance at one of the big press conferences, either Sonys or Microsoft. Well, fair enough. It makes sense not to have a huge booth with demos if you prefer to give the press a walktrough of your demo, which Rockstar has always prefered. It's not a surprise and im really excited to see what they are going to show.

its GTA, they don't need to show anything. In fact, the whole dev team could stand on a stage at e3 and say that "the development of gta5 has gone horribly wrong and nobody should buy it" and it would still sell a bajillion copies on day 1.

Yay! I'm actually happy. I wish more studios kept the quiet route so we can be surprised and generally excited when they do release new info and media on the game. Not to mention avoiding you knowing the whole story of the game before the game actually drops.
