Assassin's Creed 4: Ubisoft talks next gen versions, DLC and new combat tactics

It's hard to know what to make of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, the first cross generation Assassin's Creed. On the one hand, this is one of the most luxuriantly outfitted, exotic and inviting open worlds we've encountered. On the other, the under-loved Assassin's Creed 3 was also one of the most luxuriantly outfitted, exotic and inviting open worlds we'd encountered. Alas, experience has shown that while Assassin's Creed titles tend to be composed of attractive ingredients, those ingredients aren't always combined in a convincing way.

I want to see how AC4 will look on next-gen.

Sandmano3994d ago

I don't know why but I feel it will look the same.

Qrphe3994d ago (Edited 3994d ago )

Agreed. It'll run at a higher resolution and framerate among other settings but nothing of what many would like just like many cross-gen ports.

Until they stop making cross gen game (except for exclusives) All game will be very similar to current gen just with better graphics. After they faze out this gen then devs will start taking true advantage of the extra ram and harddrive in every system.

One thing I've grown to dislike is the whole Pirate/Assassin thing. I didn't even bother completing 3.

Yeah, the core game will be almost the same between PS4 and PC. The PS4 version will likely be 1080p and 30fps, but with higher res textures and more advanced effects than the PS3/360 versions.

The PC version obviously will allow you to go to higher resolutions and framerates, better anti-aliasing, better texture filtering, etc.

Edit: I think Assassin's Creed 3 was amazing and easily the best game in the series, and I loved them all. As long as they keep up the high quality I will continue to buy and enjoy these games.

I kind of feel like next gen is going to be massively disappointing, simply because publishers have been teasing their games with high end PC screens for years. I'm so used to ultra-pretty bullshots by now that the AC4 and Watch Dogs stuff leaves me cold.

Gamesgbkiller3994d ago

Me too.

But I don't think the difference will be equal to Watch Dogs.

this has barely to do with GTA V or watch dogs, it is all about AC4. that one verse where he says it is on 1 of 3 pages and is 1 line long

CJDUNCAN3994d ago

It's such a blatant money grab and it's a shame what they have turned this great franchise into.

_QQ_3994d ago

True, i would rather them make a great game about pirates with an original story, than an AC game about pirates that follows the AC lore.

isyourhouseonfire3993d ago

AC3 was **AWESOME**, but I just don't see how they're going to turn around so quickly to AC4? I feel like we're headed towards AC3 with slightly better graphics and a different story and that's it. Sort of like what happened to Far Cry after the first game.

Please UbiSoft say it ain't so.

tndtloveu3993d ago

Hope it won't have many bugs like AC3 and the frame rate and loading speed is more stable on PS4

Ubisoft's Recent Antics Have Me Fearful For The Sands of Time Remake

Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.
