"Revenue from digitally delivered content grew 108% year-over-year and accounted for 20% of Non-GAAP net revenue, driven by offerings for the Borderlands franchise, particularly digital sales of Borderlands 2, the Grand Theft Auto franchise, the Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise, and Max Payne 3. "

Wow, didn't know Borderlands was that popular.

coolbeans3997d ago

Well...the better reception of 2 certainly drove up sales. Even then, the first one sold over 4.5 million ( http://www.gamespot.com//ne...

I loved Borderlands, but I am now no longer going to support the series. I would say Borderlands is everything that is wrong with DLC.

TH3KARMACHARGER3997d ago

Why so, I feel they did everything okay
4 story DLCs with the season pass (Which states it is only story)
2 Characters which add the variety to the game (And are optional )
and 1 Level add on

Story DLC is decently priced, the characters where great and the one level add on was only $5 (and It included a third play-through with pearlescent weapons.)

Also, for everyone who thinks changing level is easy consider the following

For the player character - Yes
for All the weapons - Harder
For all the enemies to be properly leveled and deal the appropriate damage. - Super Hard

I know Bethesda gave their level expansion for free, but they then announced they where not making any more DLC the day after. And they do not need to scale weapons/armor.

*End rant =-)

Finally some good number where games are concerned. Those are some good numbers and I was happy to add to that count for Max Payne 3, NBA 2K13, Bioshock and of course Borderlands 2.

weekev153997d ago

Good to see good games selling well.

Reborn3997d ago

A shame the level of work put into Borderlands, didn't carry over to Aliens.

TH3KARMACHARGER3997d ago

I found myself that wile aliens was most certainly a disappointing game, it was a decent extension to the aliens story line and I fell that it just lacked in the graphics/AI department.

But that is just my opinion.

Gamers have the power and they are the Ives who will decide if physical stays or not.. physical is here to stay, but good that a guy like this confirms

jznrpg73d ago

Keep up the physical copies I’ll keep buying PS and Nintendo consoles.

shinoff218372d ago

Fking word. Physical is the key. People would be surprised because the misconceptions out there but there's a sh ton of us that still prefer this route

ApocalypseShadow73d ago

One high end console has always been a benefit. The other is no longer a necessity.

Only competition there ever was, was when one launched a year to a year and a half early. Based on this generation, the other would have to launch 2 to 4 years early just to compete. Because buying a huge part of the industry, having a multiple game sleep mode, cheaper in price, smaller form factor, supposedly having better BC and a day one subscription service, has still resulted in another huge ass kicking.

Yay for physical Take Two.

Knightofelemia73d ago

I wouldn't really call it competing when a company is dead last in sales when compared to the rival company. I will always stick around for physical copies of games. Moment games go all digital is the day I bring the SNES and Genesis out of hibernation and just stick to retro.

So 2.47% of the global population have a copy of gta v no wonder they don't want to release vi there's still so many people who haven't brought v

Obvious sarcasm here

Abriael74d ago

Ha ha, we should probably count that a lot of people have 2 or 3 copies by now, for different platforms.

Cacabunga74d ago

RDR2 deserves much more praise.. game is unbelievable

KwietStorm_BLM74d ago

To think that 5mil sold is considered a huge success for any game in general, and 10 is amazing. I cannot believe people are still buying this.

Themba7674d ago

I keep saying that’s why the 7th generation was the most loved because of gta5 and Skyrim.

Demetrius73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Well hopefully millions went to gta 6 singleplayer mode to make it extra epic but knowing rockstar nowadays there won't be a full support for singleplayer, mainly online will be the focus i bet but I hope atleast theres plenty to do in the open world and not just look good with little to nothing to do, after gta 6 ain no tellin when we will get another rockstar title even tho the mfs sucked in millions from red dead 2 as well I miss when we got more than 1 game a gen from them they always delivered, so many key staff members left not even just the well known names
