Clearing up the Confusion in the Latest WatchDogs Video

Ok, some people seem to be confused about the recent video of WatchDogs -Which was a Demo that was showed in Paris- This Demo that was shown was running on a PC with an Xbox controller..

Ubisoft has stated that the PC is comparable to next gen hardware, meaning PS4 and the next Xbox, will look like this PC version..

---Update- Further explanation - On PC comparable

When they say it's comparable to Nex gen hardware it means - this is how it will look for PS4 and Nex Xbox -

Developers have something Call development kits, these are like PC machines designed on the systems (PS4 & nex Xbox) hardware, So if you get it to run on those it will run exactly the same on the actual system.

Now because developers have dev kits, they can also build PC's to around the power of the dev kits to get a good Idea of what the nex gen systems will be able to do. (why do they do this, because they probably only have 5 dev kits, but over 200 people in a team, so you build a PC around the specs and tell people if it can run on this PC should work fine on the PS4 or Nex Xbox because the PC is around the same specs as the nex gen systems)

Now games like WatchDogs and Assassins Creed run on what is called a Game-Engine - Like Cryteks Cry-engine 3. And the game engine is designed to work regardless of hardware - So getting the engine to run on a comparable PC means this is how it will look and play on nex gen systems... So if I was trying to get the game engine to run on an iPad I would turn everything way down, graphics, effects, to get it to run..

(the game engine is just designed to run on the specs it's given, so more power, better it looks)

A Comparable PC is an average Graphics card Nividia GTX - 560 to 680 - or Ati - 6970 to 7850 with average Processor - i7 2550 or 2660k or i5 mid-range chip ( not the high-end ) -So this just means if it runs good here it will look and run the same on nex gen consoles.. with a little tweaking

So not a High-end PC like what BF4 was running on, with the ATI 7990... (that is a graphics card that is High-end PC and would eat the PS4 alive, the game will need to be seriously tweaked to look as good as that demo on consoles)

--- End Of Update -----

So I hope this video clears up a little confusion that seems to be happening in the comments of this article here on the site (N4G) - http://bit.ly/199b93h

They still have not shown the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of the game, and I don't expect we will see that version as it will not be near the level of detail you are seeing in these videos.
(the core of the game will be there, but this level of detail is only possible on the nex gen hardware) -PS4 & Nex Xbox and of course PC

I personally think this is going to be an amazing looking game on PC and Nex Gen Consoles as they will be the ones with enough power to truly show off the title the way the developers wanted it to look. And if you lucky enough to be playing it on that type of hardware, I think that's when you will end up just looking around at all of the amazing detail in the game. Just taking it all in, because as you can see from the video (Watch it in 720p) it's stunning.

Of course this is why we are getting nex gen, to be amazed by the quality of the next generation of games.

So far if I had to make a List right now of -Day One- Titles WatchDogs is at the top of that list...

1. WatchDogs..
2. DriveClub..
3. Battlefield 4
5. Infamous Second Son

-So What's your List Looking Like For -Day One- Buy..???

Thanks for clearing up the confusion, personally, Infamous Second Son is my most anticipated title, followed by the Witcher 3, and Watch Dogs.

Crazyglues4001d ago (Edited 4001d ago )

Yeah I'm just hoping Second Son turns out to be as good as infamous 1 was... -that was a really good game-

It's funny too because I almost didn't even finish it I had started playing got a little powers and then stopped playing.... then for some reason after months I came back to it, got some better powers and was amazing at how good the game was, it slowly just kept building up and was Epic..

So much fun to play once you start getting some serious powers.. (and to think I almost missed the whole thing)

So if it turns out to be that good they can just take my money... LoL

There was no clearing up confusion here. "Ubisoft said the PC version is comparable to "next gen" hardware"

What does this mean? This is a vague blanket statement which tells us nothing. THis blog was useless.

The confusion regarding which version is being shown in the video, and on what platform, many of the comments are claiming that the version shown is the Xbox 360 one, cause the RT, and LT buttons were displayed more than once, while others claimed that it is running on PS4, since the developer was talking about PS specific features.

@ ZombieNinjaPanda

Ok, I thought that was clear my bad, ok maybe I should have explained it more I just thought everyone got that part...

the ps4/nextbox version will look like the pc version on medium at best, anti aliasing an AF will be Dramatically decreased, there will be FAR more pop-in, less detailed textures, shorter draw distance, much slower performance, etc.

if you want the best version, obviously it will be on pc, but the ps4 and nextbox versions will certainly be much better than the ps3/360 versions

IRetrouk4001d ago

Watch the vid in this link, it clearly shows ps buttons during gameplay, they are speaking about the ps4 in the article.

I know were getting WatchDogs fatigue but this new video is good, gives some good info on the multi-player too - http://bit.ly/YNvL1D
