Cerny is ready for E3.

http://i.minus.com/if8IOD60...

Who knows could be Patapon 4 that would be sweet.

DOMination-3995d ago

I don't think it has anything to do with Patapon which is a product by SCEJ whereas this is an SCEE project as reported originally back in February:

http://gamingeverything.com...

The speculation from people is that it's either a project by SCE Cambridge (now Guerilla Cambridge) or something to do with the camera, ie: Pan-OPTIC. We will find out soon.

sherimae24133995d ago (Edited 3995d ago )

i think your wrong, that panopticon that appeared today comes from scej, that will be reveal next week may 16
you can even visit gematsu.com or neogaf for more info ^_^

ok here is the link:

Electroshocked3995d ago

Apparently it has something to do with the 18th century, according to this article. Do you guys think that it has anything to do with those player models spotted on the monitors in the background in one of Naughty Dog's development series videos of The Last of Us?

Grap3995d ago

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

'nuff said. it's from naughty dog

"the Panopticon is a type of institutional building designed by English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham in the late 18th century. The concept of the design is to allow a watchman to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) inmates of an institution without them being able to tell whether or not they are being watched."

cool concept

thechosenone3995d ago

And Sony keeps pumping out the new IPs. MS should feel totally ashamed of themselves, there's absolutely no reason why it couldn't push out at least one new IP in these last 3+ years.

cl19833995d ago

I wonder if it may be the date they chose to reveal the ps4 console?

ZodTheRipper3995d ago

I'd rather think that the PS4 is going to be revealed at E3.

Jdoki3995d ago (Edited 3995d ago )

The definition of Panopticon is...

"A circular prison with cells arranged around a central well, from which prisoners could at all times be observed"

Interesting...

EDIT: Here's a massive (and likely wrong) circumstantial leap...
The Panopticon was a type of building designed in the late 18th century...There's been speculation that the recent character models seen in the background of an interview with Naughty Dog showed 18th Century costume...

This is the most common association of the word Panopticon. It really relates to the idea of surveillance in prison systems- by not being sure if they were being watched or not, prisoners took no risks and were forced to monitor their own behaviour and comportment. Michel Foucault discusses it in Discipline and Punish to address how the justice insitutions became diffuse and ubiquitous and not based on violent, public spectacle for punishment. You can understand a lot of things in this day and age as panoptical- facebook for instance- we manage this "profile" of ourselves- this surface image that conveys a version of ourselves to observers, and which we can never be sure as to whether its being looked at by others, just as others can never be sure if we're looking at theirs. The point is that society figuratively becomes multiple panopticons that condition one another based on surface appearances, and that one is effectively constantly being monitored in some way.

Likely the game is set in some kind of surveillance state judging by the rather dark-looking countdown.

Jdoki3995d ago

Panopticon sounds like a cool Transformer :)

Interesting post you wrote. Considering how often news now relies on smartphone video clips, how major cities have ridiculous numbers of surveillance cameras, how Governments are trying (succeeding) to erode peoples right to privacy, it's certainly true that we are all being monitored somehow in some way already.

There's a cool game in there somewhere... Isn't it called Watch Dogs! :)

Also brought up memories of that PS3 game that never launched. Eyedentify if I remember correctly. Used the PlayStation camera. Looked pretty cool back then.

Conzul3995d ago

Well the prefix "Pan" means "everything" or "all things"

and "optic" means "to see"

Pretty badass word, hope it makes for a badass game.

This should be awesome and Panopticon is a very cool name for a game!

Sony is forecast to lose billion at the end of this fiscal year so it doesn't surprise me.

Rimeskeem3528d ago

It could also be that working at such high positions for 29 years earned him a lot of money to retire.

700p3528d ago

Maybe he bought a xbox one.

danny8183528d ago

Lol nintendo has more money at this point

dantesparda3528d ago (Edited 3528d ago )

You dont care about facts eh? Just whatever you believe. Fact Sony has a 19 billion, Nintendo 16 billion. Yeah, Nintendo has more money.

And Tbone, is all you do is troll? Why are you so obsessed with Sony?

SoapShoes3528d ago

Bunch of Xbox fanboys clamoring over this I see. How anyone can agree with you is beyond me.

MegaRay3528d ago

Dont wanna your last bubble, hah kido?

Vurczi3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

It was already stated that he is retiring. So, it has nothing to do with sony losing money.

sinncross3528d ago

That too bad. Good luck with whatever you do next Mr Kawano.

NewMonday3528d ago

he has to take responsibility for the troubles of PS4 in Japan.

TitanUp3528d ago

other than handhelds, console sales have been down in sales for a long time in Japan. a boost here and there but nothing like it used to be.

Not exactly this guys fault that the ps4 isn't selling well in Japan.

MrSwankSinatra3528d ago (Edited 3528d ago )

What does him retiring have to do with the troubles of the PS4? The guy has been working for Sony since 1985, so that's 29 years employed at one company. Maybe the guy wanted to just retire already. Not everything is a conspiracy dude.

NewMonday3528d ago

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has been the weakest link for years, on his watch the PlayStation brand declined heavily he should have pushed with strong ideas but they were too few and too week.

DonDon3528d ago

Could Yoshida take the position?

Chaos_Raiden3528d ago

Hope he have a good retirement.

Torque_CS_Lewith3528d ago

Thank you for the service sir, enjoy a life of leisure and gardening and your new boss; Mrs Kawano!

HappyWithOneBubble3528d ago

Now get out there and get that booty Mr. Kawano
