Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Review | The Game Effect

The game utilizes, criticizes, and references every ‘80s action movie trope imaginable, while retaining a degree of self-awareness that only exacerbates the absurdity. You command Sergeant Rex Power Colt through a story that consistently references a nuked Canada, threats from ‘The Reds,’ and the futuristic world of the year 2007. Just about every line of dialogue and every cut-scene (all of which get a very Sega Genesis vibe with 2D images that barely move) makes a reference to the ridiculousness of everything the game is.

I found the atmosphere too dark and monotonous. Funny dialogue but i'd rather they put out a better effort for Far Cry DLC.

TheGrimOfDeath3997d ago

This game was not a DLC for Far Cry 3. This was a stand-alone spin-off from Far Cry 3, get your facts right. And for 15$ this game is so worth it.

I thought it was a pretty sick game, but nowhere near as in depth as far cry 3 was. The one liners and 80's theme really made it awesome, plus the fact that it was just a blast to play with all the ridiculous upgrades to weapons and your stats.

I hope we see more of these types of games in the future.

DARK WITNESS3998d ago

loved the game play, the one liners..

the last two missions were some of the best fun i have had in any video game.

if you are not an 80s kid, i can see how some may just "not get it"

deserves a full game.

the only issue i had with it was at times i wish there was a bit of daylight.

I got it yesterday is there a mod to turn off his eye effect? the lines annoy me a bit lol i know its part of the game but id like the option, other than that seems ok so far.

Titan fall 2 was chefs kiss. For those of you who haven't played it go ahead. Brilliant. With each level being creatively different.

Island, Steins;Gate Elite and Soma.

MadLad319d ago

Soma is an epic experience.

jznrpg319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

Does ISLAND have English subs ? I can’t find a copy that says it has English subs for PS only the Switch version which I rather not buy .

Love Steins Gate and Soma

shinoff2183319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

FRom what i could find. Nothing with English subs.

Yui_Suzumiya318d ago

I own a physical copy on Switch and it does have English subtitles so it's all good on Switch and Playstation.

Yui_Suzumiya318d ago (Edited 318d ago )

My bad. Steam and Switch have English but PS4 and Vita only have Japanese. Sony doesn't mess with many visual novels which is why I only own a Switch OLED and laptop for all my games.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad587d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g587d ago (Edited 587d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games
