Why Spoil Games for People?

People play games and take in their information at their own pace, yet a misplaced spoiler can ruin that experience and the game's story. Spoilers typically suck for people, so why are there some that actively look for them, and then decide to share?

I look for spoilers for games I have no intention of playing, but I should have to look HARD to find them. Stumbling upon spoilers is unacceptable, even after a game's release.

The simple fact is that people like to be douches over the internet. It's anonymity at its finest, sometimes people aren't happy unless they are causing trouble and misery for others.

I still remember I'd get messages from random people here on N4G trying to spoil Halo 4's story and ending for me, thankfully I was doing an internet blackout to avoid such issues.

Heisenburger3998d ago

People seriously sent you messages?

Good Lord.

You have to feel sorry for people who are that miserable, truly.

Jek_Porkins3998d ago

I had 3 messages from people spoiling the ending, but I didn't check until after I beat the game thankfully.

I must be the only person who has never seen a spoiler for any game I intended on playing in over 25 years of playing games.

The solution is simple, don't wander into articles, especially forum posts discussing a game as you are more than likely to find people who have already played it discussing certain aspects.

It's like going to IMDB and looking up a film you intend on watching then going into the forum for that film...

SpiralTear3998d ago

True, you shouldn't wander into articles about a game that you hope to play yourself (for caution of spoilers), but sometimes it's unavoidable.

Take Tumblr. You have no idea when you'll see an animated GIF of the end of The Walking Dead randomly posted on someone's page.

Some people will spoil a game regardless of a page or forum's context. If everyone on the internet kept on topic in their respective outlets, then yeah, your idea would work, but sadly, we don't live in a perfect world.

Ive been spoiled by all the manga readers of naruto to the point of about to give up on the anime since thats where I chose to get the story from.

The Last Of Us Series Has Remarkable Potential For Spin-Offs

Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."

anast76d ago

They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.

AlterRecs73d ago

I think this is in response to them releasing a remaster for the sequel, a game that didn't need a remaster.

Basically a "why did you put out a remaster no one asked for when you have all there options available"

anast73d ago

They remaster is to put out something quick while they are deving new stuff. I don't get how people can be so static.

AlterRecs72d ago

There's no news about a third game being in production, you're just assuming that they're working on something that they aren't

anast72d ago

When they release the news to start the hype-train, you can give me my props then.

DrDoomer76d ago

I want an alternate timeline spin-off, where part 2 never happened.

CrimsonWing6976d ago

They’ve already done Remasters of 1 and 2… what else is there to Remaster?

AlterRecs73d ago

Considering they remastered the first game twice, who knows lol

CrimsonWing6973d ago

That was a Remake. I guess they could do that to 2, but man…. They should wait a couple generations so it can look like a major upgrade.
