And x360 missing longevity? Yeah ever since 2009 it's been a whole different console than what it started out with so they either lack longevity or are not a direct competition at all no longer. Make your pick. Nothing hatefull in stating the obvious.

I have to say out of all of the comments, Phil Fish seem like the one with head shove so far up his ass the most.

Kamiya wasn't the only who didn't care about Capcom's game, a lot of fans didn't either. Capcom only shipped 1.15(as of April 2013). Which was less than DMC4. No telling how many of those copies actually sold. Hopefully DMC:DMC 2 will do a lot better if it is to be made.

I don't know. I still see it as pretty true. I'll get hate for this, but I can't imagine choosing a 3DS over a Vita. Casual gamers would probably go with the 3DS, as we've seen with sales.

I have both and enjoy both. I was just on a flight where I played a little of each. I do prefer my Vita for it's game selection and how advanced it is compared to the 3DS but where else can I play Mario and Zelda games? On that note, those are the only games I enjoy on the 3DS lol.

Actually I'm a core gamer... But when it comes to handhelds I look for something different. I favor the more lighter/casual/retro stuff like platformers, JRPGs and puzzle, which Nintendo never lacks. When I first picked up a psp it was really ehhh because to me it felt like it was trying to be a hard core console... I have consoles for that! So I gotta roll with Nintendo for the different experience. Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, Monster Hunter...Great games that make me consider getting a 3ds but when I look at vita I'm like okay? But I can very similar if not the better version of that game already on my ps3.

Most gamers who don't like the Vita...have never tried the Vita.

Then again, you wouldn't buy it, anyway. The Vita's not a tablet/smartphone, so you have no interest in anything except complaining about how it's NOT what you want it to be.

In either case, what he said wasn't "hateful," just stupid and unrelated to the topic at hand. And I called him out on it because the Vita he "owns" belongs to his kid, and because even if it DID look like the GO, he'd still have all the complaints he's had about the Vita for a year now.

Man Sony were huge dicks back them. For what it's worth I'm glad this last generation made them a little more "humble". We will see if it lasts.

How so? You look at Sony's comments, were they really that far off? Saying the GameBoy wasn't for the older demographic, they were bang on on that account and Nintendo didn't even try to market it to anyone but children. Sony was right on that one.

The 360 lacking longevity, they were right on that one again. The 360 was struggling to maintain positive sales growth until Kinect breathed new life into the system. If it hadn't been for Kinect, who knows how quickly sales would have dropped off. They certainly headed south again after the Kinect effect died off. Just look at Microsoft's numbers.

As for the Wii not being their direct competitor, again...bang on. The Wii and the PS3 were completely marketed at different demographics. It's like saying the Porshe and the Honda Civic are direct competitors because they're both cars. Clearly the PS3 and Wii were meant for different markets.

Not a single one of those comments was "hateful."

What I find surprising is there were none of Microsoft's BS claims over the years. Those guys have done nothing but run their mouths. From Aaron Greenberg claiming the 360 had "double the PS3's install base worldwide" in 2010, when nothing could have been further from the truth to MS exaggerating sales at CES to them trying to cover the fact that the PS3 had overtaken them in Europe. MS execs bashed Sony and Nintendo at every turn when the entire time the 360 was getting it's ass handed to them ever since it had competition.

Some of Greenberg's tirades about Sony missing Achievements or Home were classic, considering at the time his company was lying and trying to cover up RROD. "Sony has a history of over-promising and under-delivering." Yeah, this coming from a company that took 5 years to fix their console hardware, all the while charging extra to play the games you just purchased.

Greenberg: "(Sony's..) complacent attitude is out of touch with where the industry and consumer is today," Greenberg said. "This generation won't be won over just hardware specs, but who can out-innovate when it comes to online and software. I'm confident we will outsell the PS3 throughout the entire generation by providing more innovation and building the best and broadest games library while growing our entertainment experiences on the leading online network."

How'd that work out for ya? Seriously...not a single quote in this article from this blowhard? You could have done an entire article just of him beating his chest while dismissing the competition over the years.

Nah. At the launch of the PS3 Sony's attitude was super dickish. To be quoted as saying they expect people to spend 2 full paychecks on their system proved that. It looks bad to be stomped by an admittedly inferior but far more innovative piece of hardware. Only to attempt to rip them off some years later. Remember that whole "This Changes Everything" ad campaign for the Move. Yeah no one does. It was bloated self indulgent nonsense. It proved just how blind Sony is when it comes to innovation. People can talk about usage statistics and demographics all they want but the truth is that is Sony was pulling in Wii numbers they would be rubbing their dicks raw with gloating press releases. Since they couldn't do that the only option to save face was to try and distance themselves. They are dismissive and talk down to the competition all while getting killed in sales and losing billions upon billions of dollars. They built hardware no one could use and expected everyone to fall in line. When every cross plat game was inferior on the PS3 they simply blamed other companies for not "getting" the hardware. Gabe Newell's comments on this are fantastic. You should look em up. Sony sees themselves as the center of the universe and it bit them in the ass hard. Now they are forced to throw away all the hardware they built on the PS3 and turn the PS4 into what is essentially a PC. Shit it's 2013 and the PS4 wont even be able to play PS3 games off disc with an absolutely bullshit excuse. Essentially they are saying that that the PS3 was built so impractically it is impossible to make PS3 games playable on the PS4. Without re buying the game through their online store so you can't resell the game later of course. But no one seems to notice that. Like I said before, hopefully losing upwards of 6 billion due to nonsensical hardware decisions and wasted R and D along with decreasing sales of first party releases will teach them a very valuable lesson. My fingers are crossed because I miss the days of the PS2.

Tretton comes off as a real jerk. He violates the biggest rule of selling your product; don't alienate a potential consumer, even if they're buying a competing product.

Don't get me wrong, NeoGAF is still the best place to get information. It's just the popularity and notoriety of the forum attracts the wrong kind of people. Mainly publicists, marketing drones, and agenda driven faboys.

But anyone who doesn't follow NeoGAF on a daily basis shouldn't call themselves a gamer. You just need to avoid the sales topics.
